Good morning friends!

I am needing your help. On October 12, our dance academy will be having their inaugural performance as a full company. This show is designed to challenge our students in their artistic expression and performing on the biggest stage they have ever performed on. We are so excited to offer this opportunity to them and open up the gates for more opportunity. The funds collected from this show will allow us to provide a greater number of students with quality dance instruction, life skills development, team building, and a space for artistic exploration. Not to mention new costumes, dance workshops, and swag for our students.

To make our program accessible to many, we only charge $10/month. Please consider making a donation through our Venmo, purchasing a few tickets to our show, or donating an item for our silent auction.

Message me privately for donation items.

Strength has many definitions tied to physical ability and capacity to withstand, but what if we looked at strength as a characteristic unique to our being.

I’ve heard strength described simply as something that makes you feel strong.

I encourage you to stop focusing on your weaknesses. Thesethat seem only to paralyze your mind, soul, and body and instead, lean into the things that make you feel strong.
YOU are Capable!

Let your strength help you grow. It could be the calling that not only changes your life, but those that know you, for the good.

What makes you feel STRONG?

What are you dreams and desires?

Are they:

Edifying?

What kind of impact will they have?

Who will they touch?

These questions help us recenter ourselves to our purpose. Your dreams and desires are in a constant process, but only you have the ability to start working towards them. The process will look different for everyone, so refrain from comparison. It’s only bound to be a joy killer.

Here are a few things to be mindful of as you take steps closer to the life you want to live:

Let your process be grounded.

Allow yourself to be fully engaged.

Chose in wisdom.

Move in Love.

YOUR choice affects the rest of the universe.

Remember to breathe, look around, and take in some sun.

Be blessed!

What a privilege it is to be in the process.

The process is the unfolding of a story that can never be duplicated. A unique and complex series of moments that allow for spontaneous character development. An opportunity to decide How, What, Where, When, but most importantly WHY.

The process forgets about the agenda and instead grows our intentionality. It defined, defines, and will define our ever growing/changing why.

The process, driven by the art of deliberate motion, transforms atmospheres and its pressures. Your process grants you access to be transformed as you learn to “tip” the mind, body, or soul.

Now, you’ve caught a glimpse of opportunity.

These decisive moments can influence a path to failure, but what if you succeed? What if you change the entirety of your life for the best?

Let your process be filled with:

~ Kindness
~ Grace
~ Peace
~ Patience
~ Wisdom
~ Fairness
~ LOVE

At any moment, you can change the process or to your surprise, you may be unexpectedly changed by the process.

Cheers to a year of awesome processes and victories!

Never let your current reality steal your ability to appreciate and love. I’ve had the wonderful opportunity of watching one of my favorite people in the world, transform her entire idea of what true horsemanship is. An idea of a relationship that is always loving, always fair, always uplifting, and always true.

The idea that Truth and Love are the exact same thing; to know love is to know truth.

She’s has taught me to always chase improvement in how we read, understand, and honor our horses. Challenging herself and myself, “how can I do that softer and kinder?” She’s taught me that our ears, eyes, and expressions should learn to be more sensitive to a equal partnership forged in love.

I use the expression “forged,” because it represents the melting of our preconceived ideas of life and those of the horse, while homogenizing our opposing cultures, thus forming a similar and mutually understandable culture formed through Love.

Cheers to your journey.

PERSPECTIVE

I think the hardest thing to teach people working with horses is having the right perspective. A dictionary definition of perspective that I found on google is
"a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view."

Answering questions on my Facebook group this morning there were two completely different posts, asking questions about their horses, and I think that the questions cannot be answered without a change in the persons "attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view."

Both posts were ignoring where the horse was up to, and skipping ahead to what the human wanted, and then being concerned about the results.

It was almost like a man writing into an advice column saying "There's a girl I know, she won't talk to me, she just turns away when she sees me coming, and if I follow her and trying to hold hands with her she struggles and pulls away. How do I stop her from struggling when I try to hold hands with her?"

I know that sounds ridiculous, a man would have to be completely oblivious or suffer from "Social-emotional agnosia", also known as emotional agnosia or expressive agnosia, which is the inability to perceive facial expressions, body language, and voice intonation.

A person like that would make you not want to be around them, and so if you put yourself in your horse's shoes, it becomes quite apparent why they would act a certain way.

The principles of "work with the horse you have today", "don't go to bed angry" and "they need to know the answer before you ask the question" are a big part of STTDP and all of them rely on you reading your horse and not putting your wants in front of their needs.

That last sentence is the perspective change that's needed. In order for the relationship to grow, you need to put their needs first, and your wants come a distant second. It seems like that's backward, but that is the quickest way to get your wants met.

(Photo of a Barb stallion in Morocco last year. As he got relaxed enough to lay down the call to prayer came from the muezzin in the minaret of the mosque across the road, it was one of the most surreal moments of my life ).

There is something so freeing about switching the conversation from “another training horse, another month,” to “wow, I believe in you!”

It creates that separation that egotistical humans fall into and allows an opportunity to be mentally present and spark two way transformation.

I have found that I have to cut the number of in-training horses to nourish that culture at my barn.

Honor the horse and know your worth. God chose you for a reason.

I just got this pony who is as about as clean a slate as possible. I just smiled and thought, “This is going to be one of the coolest processes of my life.” Wiping away all my pre-existing methods and allowing God to direct my program. Imagine knowing that you are loved, honored, and respected all of your life?!?!? That changes atmospheres, communities, animals, and the land we stand on.

As an individual working towards developing a healthy relationship, one of our biggest goals is to demonstrate that the other being involved is safe. A willing horse comes only when they have enough evidence to deem the leader/individual safe.

Growing in these relationships is only possibly when we stretch our boundaries of safety. Help your horse grow by being a consistent, fair, and kind person. You’ll be surprised how much faster they will pick things up!

Finding ponies their best home is what we do! So excited for Duckie, formally White Lightning, and his journey with his new owner!

05/13/2020

Check out White Lightning! Thunder’s mustang cousin! Lightning is a 12 year old Green Mountain grey gelding out of Wyoming! He does great with quiet confidence and is super willing. He has a blemish on his rear right knee but doesn’t affect his soundness whatsoever. Nice thick legs and good big feet standing ~15.3 hands. He’s a kind horse but can be shy.
