It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Larry 🐾💔.
A week ago we noticed he wasn’t himself—losing weight, not eating as much, and growing quieter than usual. Concerned, we rushed him to North Valley Veterinary Center, where Dr. Ortega administered lab work and x-rays. The lab work revealed signs of potential kidney injury, but the results remained inconclusive. His x-rays were clear, but he had a lump in his abdomen, and their best guess was it was some p**p due to his lab work being normal.
Despite treatments like appetite stimulants, Larry’s health continued to decline and he had lost more than 20% of his weight over seven weeks. He was due to go to the vet on Sunday, but when I woke up on Saturday, he was cool to the touch and lethargic. I rushed him to the vet; his body temperature was 98.7 degrees suggesting a deeper issue. (A normal cat temp is 100.5-102.5.) After his examination, we discovered the "p**p" was still there and was most likely indicative of cancer. After careful discussions about his rapid decline, we made the heart-wrenching decision to end his suffering. Larry crossed the rainbow bridge just shy of his 9th birthday, which we would have celebrated on May 20th.
Larry brought so much joy to all who met him. His talkative nature, charm, and unforgettable personality warmed our hearts every single day. Today, we remember the resilience he showed and the love he gave so freely. His impact will be forever remembered, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone he touched. ❤️ We miss you and will always love you, little man.
