UPDATE: Peggy has been adopted!
Meet our longest resident: Peggy!
Peggy is a 2.5 year old Pit Bull mix who does well with other dogs and kids, but needs a home without cats. She loves going for walks, eating treats, and giving kisses! Her adoption fee has been paid.
For more info, visit www.fairhumane.org.
We'd like to shine our doggy spotlight on handsome Scout!
Scout is a 1 year old, 50 pound Pit Bull mix who was surrendered in December. He has been in foster care for the last few weeks to learn his basics and come out of his shell. He is a quick learner and will make a wonderful addition to his new family.
Here's what his foster had to say:
"Are you looking for a super smart, playful, eager-to-please, and longing-to-be-loved dog? Well, Scout is the dog for you. A family that is committed to giving him guidance and structure is exactly what he needs. Scout loves toys! A key to his contentment is having toys or balls accessible to him at all times. He loves to play with other dogs. He is amazing with cats. He is good with sturdy children. Scout knows Sit, lay, stay, go back, up, off, down, out, crate, heel and shake. He is crate trained and potty trained."
Scout will remain in foster care and can be met with an adoption application. To submit an application, visit www.fairhumane.org > Adopt A Pet > Adoption Application.
Meet our #DogOfTheWeek: Buckeye! Buckeye is an 8 month old Hound mix who was surrendered with his siblings in September. He is the last of his littermates waiting for a forever home, so he entered foster care to start working on some of his basic obedience. Turns out, he's a rockstar! 😍
Here's what Buckeye's foster family had to say:
"If you're looking for an energetic, goofy, and lovable dog, Buckeye is the dog for you. Buckeye is an amazing dog and he learns pretty quickly. He would thrive in the company of other dogs. He's potty trained but he may have a little trouble with being crated if alone. He's doing better now. Buckeye has a lot of energy, considering he's still a puppy. He loves being in nature and enjoys long walks, exploring parks, and soaking up the sunshine. He knows to sit, lay, high-five, shake, heel, break, up, and off. He loves being by his humans.
He is crated when we leave the house and at night. He is doing better now that he has another dog with him. He is housebroken and will pace back and forth if he has to use the bathroom. He is amazing for car rides! Buckeye is still jumpy with our younger kids but nothing too serious."
If you are interested in meeting Buckeye, you can submit an adoption application at www.fairhumane.org. Buckeye will remain in foster care and can be met with an approved application and scheduled meet and greet.
Meet our #CatOfTheWeek times 2! Check out our adorable sibling duo - Cutesy and Demure!
Cutesy and Demure are 4 month old kittens who came into our care when they were just a few weeks old. They were emaciated and spent a long time in foster care recovering. They have grown into the sweetest, funniest pair and are looking for a forever home together. They will make one lucky family so happy!
Cutesy and Demure are FIV positive but do not require any specialized care. Like any other cat, FIV positive cats just need regular vet visits, a healthy diet, and a low stress environment. They can safely live with other cats, including FIV negative cats. 😊
If you are interested in adopting Cutesy and Demure, an adoption application can be submitted at www.fairhumane.org
Merry Christmas Eve! 🎄The shelter dogs had some playtime today and got to pick out their own Christmas toys! 🥰
Most of these pups are recent arrivals to the shelter and have less than wonderful pasts, so it’ll be a work in progress to learn to play with toys. Rest assured, everyone also got lots of belly rubs and treats!
Iris is a 1 year old Hound mix and has been with us since August when she was seized during a neglect investigation. Can you believe she's had no interest? 😱 One of our wonderful fosters took her home for a few weeks and we've learned so much about her!
Iris is a very smart girl - check out everything she's picked up already! She is a quick learner and really looks to her person for direction. She is eager to please and loves spending time with her person. She has also gotten along well with the other dogs, cats, and kids in the home! Her foster has also learned that Iris is housebroken and crate trained. She is the complete package!
If you are interested in meeting Iris, an adoption application can be submitted at www.fairhumane.org. Since she is in foster care, meet and greets can be scheduled with an approved application and appointment.
