I don’t usually post things like this on my page but I have been busy today dealing with damage control and walking to the end of my road for updates about Brook Rd and getting rides into town to run important errands etc so I haven’t been able to personally contact all my Friday Daycare pups’ humans.
Brook Rd is passable now but is rough. It definitely will be more difficult for cars than trucks. It is raining again so not sure what the road condition will be by morning so use caution. I recommend checking the road before you just drive down it.
My driveway is not fixed and will probably be worked on tomorrow if all goes well. I will be here and will not be closed for anyone that chooses or needs to bring their dog. I will be at the end of the driveway to greet you and walk your dog up.
You are welcome to call me before you venture out in the morning for any updates I may have.
Thank you and sorry for the late update or any inconveniences.

So that everyone knows there is a cough going around the North Country that was thought to be kennel cough but could possibly be this infectious upper respiratory disease. My daycare will remain open for my current daycare dogs but I will not be introducing any new dogs into the daycare until I feel it is safe. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thank you.

It has been a couple of weeks since I featured one of the dogs that is part of the daycare family but I haven’t forgotten.

“Cinder” Greene started coming to Paws-a-tive Training for training as a puppy in 2018. She was shy and not very brave around other dogs so her human parents and I introduced her to daycare in 2019 to help social her. She was very dramatic at first when another dog bumped into her, her feelings were hurt and she would cry as if she were injured. My dog , Zeph, protected her and he became her best friend. She was never very far from him.
Cinder will be 5 years old in June and is no longer afraid of the other dogs. She has become very social with the other dogs and is no longer low dog on the totem pole. Zeph is still her best friend and she loves to be were he is. She is one of the dogs that doesn’t like the cold so you can find her inside with Zeph and Piper on a cold winter day. She is sweet and loves people especially children and people special to her.

Meet R***r. She will be 6 years old in two days. She started daycare in 2017.
She is a high energy girl and helps me with other high energy dogs since she plays well with them and can keep up with them when some of the other dogs can’t. She also is good with the low energy dogs. She loves toys and you will often find her carrying a toy in her mouth or playing with the other dogs with toys. Most of the time she is on the move but will nap when inside with her friends.
She is obedient and will put herself in a time out (in a crate with the door open) when she thinks she is in trouble or when a human comes to pick up their dog from daycare.
🦴Happy Birthday, R***r girl🐾

This is Aggie. She is 6 1/2 years old. When she started daycare in 2017 she immediately bonded with my dog, Zeph, but was scared and unsure of a Great Dane named Teddy that was in daycare. Her human parents saw that Teddy was a gentle giant so they brought her for several small visits so she could get use to Teddy. Teddy ended up being one of her favorite playmates along with Zeph.
Zeph would definitely like Aggie to play more than herd the other dogs or goats. Aggie can also be seen herding the dogs to their people’s cars at pick up time. Aggie likes to be were the action is and it is not very often she is resting unless everyone else is resting too.
Aggie is no longer scared of the other dogs and is often one of the first dogs to greet a new dog.
All of Aggie’s dog daycare family wants me to mention and say thank you to Aggie’s human parents because her mom always brings them really good treats.

Meet “Piper” Routhier. Piper started daycare in 2015. She is 8 almost 9 years old.
Piper and my dog do not like the cold and you can often find them sitting on something outside. Piper also likes standing up on the tires to get off the ground. Piper and Zeph are the first ones to ask to go inside and often in the winter you will find them side by side on the couch while the rest of us are still outside.
In the summer you will often find her sprawled out in the sun.
Piper is the alpha female on days she is in daycare. She is a fair alpha but if a dog crosses the line with her or me she will quickly put them in their place and is ready to back me up if she thinks I need help.
She is affectionate and will try to climb in your lap when given the chance.

This week meet “Kimber” Kenison. Kimber is 9 years old and has been part of the daycare family the longest now. She started daycare in 2014 when she was just a puppy. She is the peacemaker of the daycare. She likes her routines and loves playing fetch with balls. She also was very instrumental in helping me socialize my dog, Zeph. When I got him at 3 months of age he was very shy and timid. He was afraid of other dogs and would hide or snap at the dogs. Kimber’s human parents agreed to let me use Kimber to help get him through this. Kimber was very patient with him and eventually he started to play with her. She is still very patient and tolerant of him and the other daycare dogs.

I am not good at posting on Paws-a-tive Training FB page so I have decided to introduce the daycare dogs to everyone by posting one dog a week. This week I am doing a tribute to “Whopper” Gilbert who went over the rain bridge last Friday at the age of 13. I met Whopper when he was 9 weeks old when his humans starting training with him. He started at daycare at the bottom of the pack and worked his way up to alpha dog. He was a great alpha. Always fair to the others dogs and very welcoming to the puppies. He is greatly miss by me and the four legged and two legged Paws-a-tive Training family.
