Yesterday I was at the dog park in the morning with my back toward the gate where the dogs come in. I was talking to someone. And there are three women looking at me and one is pointing to my leg. Well apparently this big dog no names mentioned peed on my pants and my sneaker and my sock. It was hysterical. How can one get mad about that. But as a joke this morning I took a garbage bag and cut the bottom off. So then I tucked the top of it all the way around in my pants and pushed the rest up. This way when the dog came in as a joke mind you I would pull it down for the mom to see and just to have a good laugh. It was funny. This evening I received a text from one of our park patrons. And he sent me a great idea for a costume thinking the dog would enjoy it and I myself would be protected.

Come get your calendars (did we mention they make great holiday gifts?), watch the Sabres game, bring your pups, and have a beverage.

The water will be shut off in the dog park on October 28th! We need to bring our own water for our dogs.

Laura is becoming a more frequent user of our dog park. She married Drew November 2023 coming up on their one year anniversary. She loves her job as a bridal consultant. In her leisure time she does enjoy reading, adult coloring books, and hiking. Her husband Drew is enjoys good horror and suspense movies. We're going to start with her dog Cherro. Cherro is a 1-year-old Shepherd lab basset hound mix. Cherro is short, sweet and sassy!
The brown cocker spaniel named Animo (Spanish for cheer up) has quite a detailed history. Laura and her husband Drew saw 14 lab puppies up for adoption at the SPCA and thought they were so cute. So they went to get one. When they got there they realized because they were so cute that they would be easily adopted. So they decided to look for a hard to place dog. The SPCA official introduced them to Animo stating that she is not going to survive in the SPCA. She actually started her road to adoption in the Greenville humane society. As a puppy she had been beaten by men. The result of beatings left her fearful of men. She had been returned multiple times to the humane society. They in turn decided to try 716 in an effort to find her an adoptive home. 716 did all they could for this dog but her medical needs were extreme They turned to the SPCA for assistance. The SPCA had more resources available to provide appropriate care. When she was at the SPCA she wasn't eating. Due to being crated for the first 2 years of life her growth was stunted. She was in need of several surgeries as she was eating her own f***l matter and laying in it. She needed to have teeth repaired and her skin was in poor shape. She was in need of bathing and antibiotics. She currently bathes every 10 days. Loud sounds make her very nervous. She will always have chronic issues with his teeth and skin. Animo is learning how to be a dog at the dog park. She is slowly making adjustments. Amino is slowly trusting of her dad Drew but feels much closer to her mom Laura.
Laura stated the grass in the park is beautiful. She believes everyone cares and looks out for all the dogs and each other. She truly enjoys her visits here.

Thank you for your suggestion. At this time we basically pick up the apples with our hands or people bring in their own grabbers to get the apples and whip them over the fence. Some people take them home because some of the apples are edible. If you'd like to bring a grabber in, they're only like $5 to pick one up and pick up apples with. That would be great. But thank you.

Our Story

We are a community of dog lovers, banding together to develop a dog park in Lancaster, NY. Our hope is to provide a self-sustaining, high quality recreational and safe location where dogs can be dogs off-leash, free to play and run.

We are partnering with Erie County Parks, Forestry & Recreation to create a dog park in an unused portion of Como Lake Park. The location is near the Office and Maintenance Buildings, close to the Bowen Road entrance of the park. Now we need to step up our fundraising efforts! The sooner we have the money to pay for fencing, gates, water hookup, liability insurance, decomposed granite, signage, etc., the sooner we will have an active dog park! Watch our page and website (www.lancasterdogpark.org) for the latest updates. Lancaster Unleashed, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3 )organization which means ALL your donations are tax deductible!
