PLEASE SHARE! We are STILL looking for a home for Luna, even with his adoption fee being sponsored!

Luna is an approx. 4 year old, male cat. He has been with us since September of 2023. Luna came to us with reported bowel issues, but we did not observe any. Since being in our care, Luna has developed urinary issues. He is prone to crystals in his urine so he is now required to be on a special urinary care food for the rest of his life (We will be sending some food home with him!!!). He is doing so well on his new diet. He is very laid back and sweet! He loves belly rubs and to be pet. We often find him laying in the sun, belly up. He does fine with the other cats but isn't very playful. He just likes to hang out, especially in a window or on one of the perches in the office. He would make a great, quiet companion to keep someone company. Luna is fully vaccinated and neutered.

We need your help!

The heart and soul of ORCA's services to the community rests in the hands of an extraordinary group of individuals who answer the hotline everyday. Trained ORCA volunteers provide information and assistance to pet owners, non-pet owners and the general public, as well as to police, fire, and other emergency personnel with an animal problem. Armed with a detailed manual, these volunteers are able to provide the caller with the information they seek or refer the caller to the appropriate agency capable of handling the situation. You are able to do this all from your own home, since we are able to connect your personal number to our hotline, at no cost to you. Shifts are approx. 3-4 hours and you can do as many of a few a week as you'd like.

Meet Abigail!

Abigail came to us when she was dumped on our porch. Luckily, she was in good health and has been doing very well. Abigail has a lot of sass! She loves to let you know who’s boss. She is not aggressive just has an attitude. She still has a sweet side, and loves to sit on our laps and get lots of attention, on her terms of course. Abigail does very well with the other cats and loves to play and wrestle. Abigail is approx. 5 months old, fully vaccinated, and spayed.

ORCA'S primary goal is to rescue any ill, injured, or in-distress animal, in Lancaster County. They aim to rehabilitate these animals and find loving homes for them. They also provide information on animal-related problems through their Animal-Alert Hotline, 717-397-8922. It is our purpose to respond 24 hours a day to animal emergencies, and to provide support to police, fire, and other emergency personnel when they are dealing with situations that involve animals.

While they cannot rehabilitate wildlife, they do assist in capturing and transporting injured or sick wildlife to the closest certified wildlife rehabilitation center. In 2023, they responded to 550 emergency calls! They do not handle healthy stray animals nor take in surrendered animals.

Meet Winifred!

Winifred came yo us when she was found with her tail severed. Luckily, it was a clean break so she just needed a quick surgery to clean the wound so it didn’t get infected. Winifred is very sassy and spunky. She will tell the other cats who’s boss! She is not aggressive though. She also can very lovey with the office staff and loves to be pet and given attention. Winifred is approx. 1 year old, fully vaccinated and spayed.

Meet Bibi! She was picked up today, on Giving Tuesday!

Bibi was captured after her finder was very concerned about her eye, rightfully so! We were able to take her right to our vet this morning and get her into surgery to remove the bad eye. Everything went very well and she is now recovering and settling in at our office. We're so thankful for callers like Amy, who did all she could to find this girl some help.

Meet Willow!

Willow came to us when she was found with a severe upper respiratory infection and ear infection. The ear infection was caused by a polyp, which was removed in surgery. She was then treated with antibiotics and everything cleared up very well! She is now healthy and doing very well. Willow can be a little shy with humans at first, but warms up quickly. She loves to play, especially with her cat friends at the office. Willow is approx. 5 months old, fully vaccinated, and spayed.

We have an update to share on Gracie.

Gracie had surgery a few weeks ago to fix a broken leg and you all very generously donated to cover the entire cost of that surgery. The pin that fixed Gracie's leg was removed and everything looked great at her checkup a couple of weeks ago. Early last week one of out staff members found Gracie in distress and rushed her to Manheim Pike to be seen. Gracie was crashing and her condition was beyond anything the vets could do. They recommended letting Gracie go peacefully, to which we agreed.

Unfortunately it is unclear why this happened, but there is always risk with any surgery. Based on her symptoms, it could have been a blood clot. We are so devastated that after all she went through that we still lost her. She knew love in the short time we had her, and sometimes that is all we can do. 💔
