To determine if infection is present we perform an ‘ear cytology' at the time of your pet's appointment. This involves getting a sample from the affected ear(s) using a q tip, spreading the sample on a slide, and looking at that slide under the microscope. Based on what is seen on the ear cytology, the doctor can better determine which course of treatment to use.

The best thing to do if you think your pet may have an ear infection is to email or call in to schedule an appointment with a doctor.
