😼 Attention, loyal human servants! 👑

Today is National Respect Your Cat Day, so tell us—how do you show your feline overlord the respect they obviously deserve? Do you:

🐾 Offer the comfiest spot on the couch (even if it means sitting on the floor)?
🐾 Open and close the door 47 times a day at their request?
🐾 Apologize profusely when you accidentally stop petting too soon?
🐾 Accept that 3 AM zoomies are just part of life?

Drop your funniest examples in the comments! Your cat demands it. 👇😹

🍀🐾St. Paw-trick’s Day Safety Tips! 🍀

Dogs: “I found a pot of gold!” 🏆
(The gold = an unattended plate of corned beef. Not safe, buddy!) 🚫🐶

Cats: “I caught a leprechaun!” 🧌
(Actually just knocked over a decorative gnome. Again.) 😼💨

Reminder: No green beer for pups, no sneaky table scraps for kitties, and definitely no wrestling leprechauns (real or imagined)! Stay safe and lucky, fur friends! 🍀💚

On K9 Veterans Day, we honor the courageous dogs who have served in the military and law enforcement, risking their lives to protect and save others. Here are a few legendary K9 heroes:

🔹 Sgt. Stubby – A WWI hero, Stubby was a stray who became the most decorated war dog in U.S. history. He warned soldiers of gas attacks, located wounded troops, and even captured a German spy!

🔹 Cairo – This Navy SEAL working dog was part of the elite team that took down Osama bin Laden in 2011. His keen detection skills and courage were invaluable to the mission.

🔹 Lucca – A Marine Corps bomb-detection dog, Lucca completed over 400 missions in Iraq and Afghanistan without losing a single soldier. She lost a leg in an explosion but remained a symbol of bravery.

🔹 Nemo A534 – A Vietnam War hero, Nemo defended his wounded handler against enemy forces, allowing him to get medical help. Despite being injured, Nemo refused to leave his post.

These incredible dogs and many others have served with unwavering loyalty and bravery. Let’s honor their legacy today! 🐕🎖️

🐱 10 Cat Facts That Prove They’re in Charge! 🐱

1️⃣ Cats can make over 100 different sounds—most of which are used to demand food. 🍗

2️⃣ Your cat thinks you’re just a big, dumb cat—not a human. That’s why they “train” you. 🤦‍♂️

3️⃣ A group of cats is called a clowder… but let’s be real, they’re just a tiny mafia. 😹

4️⃣ Cats sleep up to 16 hours a day—basically, they live the dream life. 💤

5️⃣ If your cat brings you a “gift” (like a dead mouse), they either love you… or think you’re bad at hunting. 🐭

6️⃣ Cats can run up to 30 mph—but only when it’s 3 AM and you’re sleeping. 🏃‍♂

7️⃣ Their purring isn’t just cute—it actually has healing powers! 🩷🐾

8️⃣ The oldest cat ever lived to be 38 years old—because clearly, they’re immortal. 🐱

9️⃣ A cat’s nose print is as unique as a human fingerprint—so no two snoots are the same! 👃

🔟 Your cat has probably forgotten their expensive toys but still plays with a random bottle cap. 🙄🎾

Yesterday was National Pig Day!

We no longer see pigs at our practice, but we still get questions about owning them!

✅ Pros:
✔ Highly intelligent and can be trained like a dog
✔ Affectionate and form strong bonds with their owners
✔ Hypoallergenic—great for people with pet allergies
✔ Clean animals that prefer designated potty areas
✔ Unique and fun companions with lots of personality

❌ Cons:
✖ Require a lot of space and outdoor time
✖ Can be stubborn and need consistent training
✖ Prone to obesity if not fed a proper diet
✖ Not legal in all areas—check local zoning laws!
✖ Long lifespan (15-20 years)—a big commitment

Also, please note there is no such thing as a "teacup" pig! Many so-called "teacup" pigs are actually just young potbellied pigs that will grow much larger than expected. A full-grown potbellied pig can weigh anywhere from 100 to 200 pounds (sometimes more!).

🌳 National Take a Walk in the Park Day is the perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy some fresh air with your furry friend!

🐕 Celebrate by exploring a new trail, visiting a local dog-friendly park, or simply strolling through your neighborhood. Bring along your dog’s favorite treats, a sturdy leash, and plenty of water to keep them hydrated. Take time to let them sniff and explore their surroundings—it’s not just exercise but also mental stimulation for them! You can even make it extra special by bringing a toy for a game of fetch or setting up a mini picnic with their favorite snacks.

☀️ However you choose to celebrate, it’s a great way to bond with your pup while soaking in the beauty of nature!

Dr. Augustus Nathaniel Lushington was one of the first African American veterinarians in the United States!

Born in Trinidad and Tobago, he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Pennsylvania in 1897, breaking barriers and setting the stage for future generations of Black veterinarians.

Settling in Lynchburg, Virginia, Dr. Lushington built a successful veterinary practice, specializing in livestock care, at a time when opportunities for African Americans in professional fields were extremely limited. Beyond his veterinary work, he was deeply involved in his community, serving as a federal meat inspector and advocating for education and social progress.

His legacy reminds us that passion, resilience, and a commitment to service can open doors and inspire change. Let’s honor Dr. Lushington’s trailblazing contributions to veterinary medicine and the path he paved for so many!

02/20/2025

Did you know that some intestinal parasites your pet can carry are zoonotic—meaning they can spread to humans? Parasites like roundworms, hookworms, and giardia can pose health risks, especially to children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

That’s why annual f***l testing is so important! By checking your pet’s stool for hidden parasites, we can:

✅ Protect your pet from discomfort and illness
✅ Prevent the spread of parasites to your family
✅ Keep your home environment safe and healthy

Even pets who appear perfectly healthy can carry parasites without showing symptoms. Regular screening ensures early detection and treatment!

Our Care Club Plans cover 2 f***l tests yearly! Drop off a stool sample twice a year—because a little prevention goes a long way in keeping everyone safe! 💙🐶🐱
