πRoxy (A029945) came in as a stray from the Port Richey on January 13th. Wen she was brought in with another shepherd, we traced her microchip where the people hung up immediately when stated why we were calling. Sadly, Roxy has sat in our shelter since. Roxy, a beautiful black and tan shepherd, has been struggling since her arrival at the shelter. Unfortunately, Roxy's behavior has not shown significant improvement, and she is becoming increasingly anxious and fearful in the shelter environment. She has been lunging and displaying fear-aggressive behaviors in her kennel, which is a direct result of her overwhelming fear and lack of trust in new situations. Roxy's previous owner has been unresponsive. Roxy was ultimately left behind in the shelter, where her stress continues to build. Shelter life is taking a toll on her mental well-being, and without the proper support, she could continue to spiral further into anxiety. Roxy has shown kind behaviors when she isnβt shaking or trying to escape her kennel. She has been in playgroup where she is gentle and dainty with the other pups. Roxy needs a calm and understanding environment where she can decompress and begin to trust again. If you are a rescue with the capacity to help her, please act quickly. Roxyβs deadline is up January 30th at 5:30 PM. She is currently in need of a rescue transferβno direct adoptions from the shelter.

Good afternoon rescue partners,
π RUDY (A030172) is a 3-year-old, black and white Pitbull mix, and weighs 29 pounds. Rudy arrived as a sick and injured Stray from the Dade City area on January 22nd. Rudy was a sweet boy since the beginning and is a certified βwiggle buttβ. During his medical exam, they noticed puncture wounds on his front legs, head, and ears. Rudy is sweeter than sugar, gentle, and very loving. Rudy is hoping someone can give him the new life he desperately deserves with a quarantine commitment and rescue placement. Rudy is surprisingly heartworm negative, is now microchipped and up to date on his core vaccines. Rudy will be neutered prior to leaving the shelter.
We currently have a dog in our care that has been deemed βWounds of Unknown Originβ. This classification indicates that the dog has arrived in our care presenting wounds/bite marks/injuries inflicted by an unknown animal, therefore placing them at risk for potential Rabies exposure. Per state veterinary/health department guidelines, the dog would be required to quarantine at a Pasco veterinary clinic, under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian (period of time may vary). In order to do this, the dog would need a rescue commitment and guarantor to accept ownership and care during and after said quarantine. PCAS may provide references of Pasco veterinarians that participate in the WUO boarding program, in the event that a rescue can commit to any positive outcome/release from our shelter. If you can help our surv

π« Oliver (A027031) is a 7-year-old, blue and tan Pitbull mix, and weighs 57 pounds. Oliver first arrived as a stray from the New Port Richey area on September 25th. Oliver is truly a kind-hearted and gentle dog. When I've been with him, he has always been the affectionate and calm companion I know him to be, consistently showing warmth and trust.
βοΈHis behavior evaluation at the shelter shows all Aβs, a testament to his potential and well-mannered nature. However, over time, it has become clear that the shelter environment is taking a toll on him. Though Oliver has had positive interactions with staff, his behavior has become inconsistent, even with the same team members. He may respond differently to familiar faces from one day to the next, which is a sign of his growing stress and discomfort in the shelter setting.
Many staff members have seen his gentle nature firsthand, and we are deeply concerned that prolonged shelter life may continue to impact his emotional well-being. Oliver is neutered, up to date on all core vaccines, and heartworm positive. PCAS will sponsor heartworm treatment at an approved vet partner. Oliver MUST receive a rescue commitment OR a waived fee adoption no later than Thursday 12/12 by 5:30 pm.

We have two dogs in urgent need to leave our shelter. This deadline will remain open until 11/26/24. In the event that you can commit to one or both cases, please email [email protected] as soon as possible. Transport is available upon request. Thank you.
Johnny Appleseed (A028026): Johnny Appleseed is a tan male Pit Bull, he weighs 55 pounds and is estimated to be 7 years of age. Johnny arrived to the shelter as a stray from the New Port Richey area on 10/31/24. A caller found Johnny on her property, thin and in poor condition. Upon intake, Johnny was brought directly to the Medical department to address his unhealthy presentation. There, Medical determined that Johnny was suffering from severe skin and ear infections, and had a painful corneal ulceration. Treatments for all conditions were started. Weekes later, although we are happy to report that Johnny has gained weight and improved his body condition, and his skin is greatly improved, Johnnyβs eye is worse than ever. Our limited pharmacy is not enough for this pup, and he is extremely uncomfortable in our care. Johnny must report to a full service hospital, to have access to the treatments he needs. Johnny has been neutered, he is up to date on his core vaccines and preventions, and has received a microchip. Johnny has tested positive for heartworm disease, PCAS may sponsor treatment through a negotiated provider. Johnny is a sweet pup, h

π₯― GAGE (A027839) is a 2-year-old, black and tan beagle/lab mix, and weighs 63 pounds. Gage arrived at PCAS on 10/28 from the Dade City area as a hit by car dog. Gage had abrasions on his head, fractured teeth, and showing signs of little to no vision. All suspected to be secondary to head trauma from the accident. Gage has been nothing short of sweet, kind, and full of love since his arrival. He has moments of panic when he isnβt aware of his surrounding, but a comforting hand always calms him down quickly. While medical care is being provided by PCAS, Gage does require care beyond the capacity of the shelter such as specific medications or surgical procedures or the shelter environment is no longer appropriate for the medical care he needs. Gage is rescue only and will need a follow up at a full-service veterinarian regarding his medical concerns. PCAS will neuter once medically cleared. Gage is heartworm negative, up to date on all core vaccines, and microchipped. Gage MUST receive a rescue commitment by Monday, November 4th by 5pm.

Black Widow and Hawkeye are at Pasco County Animal Services !
These beautiful Great Pyrenees dogs were found as strays by wonderful Animal Advocates/ Rescuers.
As you can tell, they are a bonded pair and they are super sweet. They seem to be good with kids and are well behaved. They seem to be unaltered. They also have long nails and either have been Strays for a while or are neglected. What stories do they have to tell?
If possible, it would be wonderful and ideal to keep them together if there is an adopter who has a big heart for these two wonderful dogs.
However, we know times are hard and we would love to find them forever homes. We would actually like to find their owners if they are truly strays.
Rescues, please don't miss out on meeting these two dogs. They deserve a chance just like all the dogs do there.

UPDATE: NOW HAS NEW EUTHANASIA DEADLINE DATE
Bernard was given one laser treatment at our shelter thanks to an amazing volunteer. However, Bernards energy and kennel stress has made it nearly impossible to properly do the treatment without sedation. The treatment is also multiple rounds weekly. The treatment and recovery of the dog seems unremarkable. The shelter environment is no longer suitable to help this boy on his recovery journey and he needs help ASAP. His deadline has been extended until Thursday September 12th by 3pm. If you can help Bernard safely out of the shelter and give the medical care he needs, please email [email protected] as soon as possible. Thank you.

Wally. An energetic, fun loving, extremly stressed and shelter reactive dog is on deadline. His deadline is extended until TOMORROW (Tuesday August 27th by 5:30pm) he is available for rescue transfer OR a waived fee adoption. PCAS can offer a crate, remaining medications, training papers, a leash, collar, etc. to help ensure Wally will receive every chance he can.
He is stressed, depressed but so kind to his people π€ he has shown a dislike for dogs in our care. Being in a place surrounded by thing you hate and are afraid of is one of the worst things in the world. Wally didnβt ask to be here. Wally didnβt ask to be abandoned by whatever family he once had. Wally is just as deserving as any other dog here to a second chance π€
