Alrighty, let's reinstate the Dog of the Month!

For February(we dropped the ball for January 😅): Introducing Remi boy! Remi is an 8-year old fixed purebred Aussie with the vocal cords of some type of angel I’m sure 😂. He’s got the energy of a puppy and gets loud when you don’t understand the rules of fetch! Although he’s a talker, Remi is a highly trainable pup who’s more than eager to learn. He loves car rides and will sit pretty in the passenger seat. This handsome boy was surrendered with his sister Jade, who found a home last week. They had to be separated after Remi kept pushing Jade out of her food bowl, then became nippy. He’s dog selective but through proper introductions, he could be a great add on to a home with a fur baby in it. I wouldn’t recommend cats or rodents, please be mindful of his breed. He’s a herding dog, he’s going to try to stay busy so enrichments is highly recommended. If you can get past his quirks, Remi is quite the dog, he’s potty trained, leash trained, knows basic commands, and is well established to grooming. He’s also microchipped and UTD on vaccines. We’ll make our rounds for individual appreciations but just in case, thank you to everyone who’s already shared and donated. Just in 2 days we’ve had several people help out and you guys have made such a difference. Enjoy this video of Ms. Gia running with a brand new toy! Good afternoon! As the new year approaches, we wanted to reach out to our community again and see if there’s any way we could get some help. As much as we hate to ask, we are struggling with vet bills. We’ve lost a few dogs and gained a few more, so the cycle never slows down or ends as we all know. We need help getting our babies vetted and taken care of. We have seniors that we want to make comfortable for however long they have left. We’re always in need of towels and blankets (preferably blankets with no stuffing inside). We managed to get every house with their own portable heaters in time for the cold days we had, now we’re just running low on bedding and funds.

We have absolutely no space available and tried our best to take in as many as we could. We have new houses under construction and the Carter Crew is working hard to get these pups taken care of. We have custom calendars featuring all of our rescues including some of our boarders! ATHENA -

Athena was surrendered by a very sweet lady who had two young kids and 2 additional dogs (a small breed and another bully breed). Athena was said to do extremely well with the children, great temperament, just a hefty girl who doesn’t know how strong she is! She’s house trained, does very well on a leash, listens to commands, LOVES SWIMMING, very food motivated, great at playing fetch, and is a lover girl. She’s skeptical with strangers at first, but once introduced properly she does very good with people. We were told she played nice with the other bully breed, they both were able to handle themselves but never got into any serious fights.

She went after her previous owners smaller dog when being handed a treat. She doesn’t seem to be bothered by dogs her size, she hasn’t shown any aggression towards other dogs here at the rescue when she is behind a fence. She gets excited to see you and jumps at you pretty persistently, but is a very fast and eager learner. If you’d like to meet Athena or have any further questions, feel free to call the rescue and speak with the owner.

CALABAZA UPDATE

With careful consideration, we decided to rename Calabaza. We appreciate everyone’s beautiful name suggestions! Everyone say hi to Roscoe! He’s such a sweet boy! Absolutely melts when you pet him. He’s strong enough to run now! He got his first burst of energy this morning and we couldn’t be more happy to see him stretch out.

CALABAZA UPDATE

Goodmorning! Calabaza had his first night at Carters Canine Condos. He did so good! He didn’t rip any blankets or his couch apart, no signs of kennel stress, no potty messes and he’s eating great. He greeted me this morning with his tail wagging and I was so excited to catch his adorable smirk! Let’s all keep him in our thoughts and hope he stays as happy as he is. Still waiting on heartworm treatment to get straightened out. I’ll post updates as we got them. Say hi Mr. Calabaza!
