We've turned a little bit of a corner today. Bodie has gone in the last two weeks from being pretty assertive with pops, to being very respectful of him in his space. I think pops freaked him out once and he's figured out he's bigger he's more established but he's not aggressive. Nervousness makes Bodhi growl triggering a lot of adrenaline and then he'll lash out. Pops has been being awesome. Troubles would help very proud of him. Helping a very reactive dog takes patience and a trust that we've worked on for years. Now if only Wicket wouldn't run in and cause a ruckus from time to time. 😊

I got Bodhi a new toy. He loves it. But he didn't get the thank you part. Hence the "whaat?" look.

This morning started with a bit of a scare. My 2-year-old Jack Russell Poodle mix, Wicket, had a run-in with our new , Bodhi. Wicket got too close to Bodhi’s empty bowl, and Bodhi, who can be protective, startled him. No harm was done, but Wicket was feeling overwhelmed and did something unusual—he asked to come up on the bed and curled up on me, falling asleep.

Then, at around 4:30 am, Wicket tried to get down from the bed but slipped and went headfirst into the table shelf. He flipped and landed on the carpet, and then...he didn’t move. My heart stopped. Wicket’s eyes were open, he was breathing, but he was limp and unresponsive. After what felt like an eternity—about 5 minutes—he woke up, but he couldn’t stand. There was no sign of pain or anything broken, but he was disoriented when I took him outside, though all his “plumbing” was working fine.

With emergency vets more than an hour away, I called as soon as they opened. By the time we got there, Wicket was better but still not quite himself. The diagnosis? He knocked himself out cold and has a small concussion. He’s on Carprofen for a week, and tonight, he’s back to being Wicket. He didn’t even mind the extra pup cup at dinner.

As for me, I’m finally breathing again.

Slowly but going. Bodhi has some pretty severe resource behaviors. You have to understand he was left in his shed for 8 months and then spent 18 months in a shelter . Was surprised this morning when after 6 days he challenged me to give up a pillow this am. But backed down when I stood my ground and then ghosted him. Did not like Pops sitting next to me on the sofa but again eventually chilled.

On a huge up note, he seems to find Wicket's antics interesting and they have hung out through the crate . Who knew Wicket would be our first contact ambassador.

Wicket l, our new little ewok, is finding out being a puppy means , for the moment , limits are small and boundries need exploring, so its ok to drag you fluffy crate bed out, flip it over. And crash on it in the middle of the floor. He was very proud of himself.

And Pops has ascertive a little pack order over this pup. Its a good thing. Passing along the things he learned from Troubles and Chloe.

Introducing our newest family member, Dutton! 🐾 He's a resilient rescue, just over a year old, with a heartwarming story. Although his vision isn't perfect, his incredible nose leads the way. approves, but we're starting with two crates for a smooth transition.

Dutton's personality? Quirky, super friendly, and has more than a touch of Ewok charm with his barks and ewok-like noises. Sometimes he looks utterly confused. While he kinda knows his name, we've decided to call him Wicket, inspired by the Ewok that Princess Leia encounters on Endor.

Willemina is out of the shelter for about three weeks. Sweet, still pretty nervous about all the changes. But really tried hard today to get the basics of my techniques. Happy to say at 45 minutes of patience she got it. Look at someone when they say your new name. She's gonna be just fine.

I don't usually post photos of myself and my boy . Took a day trip with Barnaby and Kristina. She took sone nice photos. Pops, who can be quite reactive, was a champ.

Just a few pups. People often ask me what kind of dogs I work with, well the morning started off with a and an and ended up with a sweet and a mix . So yes I work with lots of dogs.

Pigeon is a recen rescue. Started out bringing way to much excitement when he met other dogs. But yesterday we did his third session in the dog park on a leash and he went from great to awesone. Gonna have a good social life going forward with a little human help.

It's been a year since I've seen Levi. Just needed a refresher. He's a super stock, short and sweet pup. Remembered his manner very quickly. One of Troubles favorite pups here is Abq. Mine too.

We've been watching William like a hawk since that guy stabbed him in the back. We're not exactly sure why he'd pay somebody to do that but he seems to be getting better and we're really hoping to get back out in our day trips sometime soon in a week or so.
