🎓𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒖𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑪𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒆!🎓

Meet Callie: the 2.5-year-old mini poodle who officially 𝑐𝑟𝑢𝑠ℎ𝑒𝑑 it at her obedience graduation today! 💥🐩

Her amazing parents, Baylee and Robbie, first reached out after being referred by a former client (thank you SO much to those of you who continue to refer us; it’s the biggest compliment we could ever receive!). At our consultation, they shared their hopes for Callie and their challenges: she had no impulse control, walked terribly on a leash, had selective hearing when it came to commands, and no recall whatsoever. More than just wanting a well-trained dog, they genuinely wanted to 𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑑 her, to build a happier, easier, more connected relationship.

From the very start, Baylee and Robbie were all-in. They were patient, asked thoughtful questions, and always went above and beyond with their homework. Every bit of feedback I offered was absorbed and applied with care and consistency. Their commitment transformed not just Callie’s behavior, but their whole dynamic as a family.

Fast forward a few months, and WOW. Callie now moves flawlessly in heel, both on and off leash. Her recall is sharp, her obedience is consistent, and she’s become a dream to be around. Best of all, she has more freedom and adventures than ever before, because she’s earned them through trust and communication.

Watching this trio go from struggling to thriving has been such a joy; and while I’ll miss our weekly meet-ups, I’m so thankful to have met these three and to have made new friends in the process. 💛

Here’s to Callie and all the exciting journeys ahead — I can't wait to see the texts and photos of her living her best life!

✨I Don’t Care If Your Dog Is Friendly✨

Yep, the title is blunt, because it needs to be.

As a professional dog trainer, I work with all kinds of dogs: puppies, seniors, reactive dogs, dogs with bite histories, dogs fresh out of the shelter, dogs just starting their training journey… and everything in between. A huge part of training is true socialization—not just letting dogs play together. Real socialization means exposing dogs to the world: people, textures, sounds, environments, and situations—all while maintaining structure and focus.

That means I’m out in public with dogs who are learning how to navigate the world. Sometimes we’re working through fear. Sometimes aggression. Sometimes impulse control. And sometimes, we’re just trying to get through the day without a setback.

And I’m not the only one. There are pet owners everywhere trying to responsibly manage their dogs, too. Maybe they just adopted a nervous dog from the shelter. Maybe they’re trying to build confidence in a reactive dog. Maybe they’re doing the best they can with what they’ve learned from YouTube videos and forums.

What none of us need is someone letting their dog drag them across the park or trail saying, “It’s okay! My dog is friendly!”

Let me be clear:

I don’t care if your dog is friendly.

Because maybe mine isn’t ready.
Maybe my dog is recovering from illness or injury.
Maybe my dog is dog-aggressive.
Maybe we’re having a tough training day.
Maybe your dog is having a day and you don’t know it yet.
Maybe what you call “friendly” is actually leash reactivity you haven’t recognized.

Whatever the reason, when your dog invades our space without permission, you take control of a situation you have no right to control, and it’s my job (or the handler’s job) to pick up the pieces after the fallout.

Even if your dog truly is friendly, that still doesn’t give you or your dog the right to greet whoever they want. You didn’t get a dog so it could be best friends with every stranger or strange dog it meets. You got a dog for you, your family, and the life you want to build together.

From a training and ownership perspective, your dog’s friendliness isn’t relevant if you aren’t being respectful of space and boundaries. Every interaction is a learning opportunity, for your dog and mine.

So please:
✅ Control your dog.
✅ Ask for permission.
✅ Respect personal space.

You worked hard to make your dog friendly, and that’s wonderful. That effort is seen and appreciated. But being friendly doesn’t mean being entitled.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

🎓𝑭𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒆—𝑬𝒚𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑵𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝑳𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍!🐾

👋🏻Meet Randi, Michael, baby Hadi, and their sweet German Shepherd pup, Bailey!

As brand-new parents adjusting to life with a newborn, Randi and Michael were also navigating the excitement and challenges of raising a young puppy. After the heartbreaking loss of their beloved dog just before baby Hadi’s birth, they dreamed of their daughter growing up alongside a loyal German Shepherd — and Bailey was the ✨perfect addition✨ to their family.

👉🏻At just 11 weeks old, Bailey began her foundational obedience training. With sleep-deprived nights and the busy life of new parenthood, Randi and Michael knew early structure was key. After their consult with Allison, they signed up for Titan K9’s Foundational Obedience program. Four weeks later, Bailey has built a beautiful training foundation, and her family is overjoyed with her progress.

🙌🏻We’re excited to share that this dedicated family is planning to continue Bailey’s journey in our Advanced Obedience program this August with Allison, ready to take her skills to the next level!

We’re so proud of how far they’ve come and can’t wait to see what’s next for Bailey and her growing family!🐾🌻

🎓 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐋𝐚𝐛!

🐕‍🦺 Meet Merica and her wonderful family, the Miskos! At just 1 year old, Merica was full of love and energy—but also full of challenges. She pulled hard on the leash, got overly excited around other dogs, and didn’t want to listen when she was amped up.

The Miskos, experienced Lab owners, were used to high-energy pups, but Merica brought a whole new level of s***k. Allison first met them at Tractor Supply while they were shopping for a harness to help with her pulling. After a quick demo of an alternative tool and a chat about Titan K9 Dog Training, they followed up the next day, thrilled to report their walk had gone smoother than ever!

They scheduled a ✨free consult✨, where Allison laid out a plan to help Merica become more focused, manageable, and enjoyable for the whole family. At first, they were unsure if it was possible, especially since Merica’s strength had made walks nearly impossible for the wife to handle. But with some clear guidance and consistent practice, that all changed.

👉🏻Within just a week, Merica began showing huge improvements. With purposeful work and just a few minutes of training a day, she started listening, focusing, and channeling her energy more productively. Now, her once-stressful walks are calm, and enjoyable—AND— yes, mom is proudly holding the leash on her own.

👉🏻By graduation, the Miskos were no longer overwhelmed; they were confident, connected, and proud of their well-behaved pup. They’re even considering adding a second Lab to the family!

We’re so proud of Merica and the Miskos for their dedication, teamwork, and trust in the process. A piece of Allison will always be with them, and if needed again they know she’s just a phone call away! 🐾🌟

By the time you reach out to us, you’ve usually hit a breaking point.
Your dog is somewhere between 8 months & 9 years old (a typical range we see), and while we may not be the first trainer you’ve called—we’re the last. The dog is charging the front door, nipping at guests or kids, pulling you down the street on walks, counter surfing, stealing food, barking non-stop, and demanding your constant attention. Maybe daycare made things worse. Maybe you’ve tried training before and nothing stuck. Your dog is in overdrive—and your sanity is walking out the door right along with them.

✨So we begin. You’re all in. The first week or two, you’re energized, hopeful, ready to get to work. But soon you hit that moment we know is coming: 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚.

Not just for your dog—𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪.👈🏻

You’re being asked to do things that challenge/change your routine, your habits, even your emotions. Kennel training. Proper leash handling. Switching to hand feeding. Maybe using tools like the e-collar, slip leash or prong, with purpose and clarity. Establishing real structure. Being intentional with every interaction. Suddenly, training isn’t just an “extra thing” to do—𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙮𝙡𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙛𝙩. And that shift is hard.

Why? Because for most people, the life they built with their dog was rooted in love—but also in comfort. Many of the choices you made felt good in the moment: letting the dog on the couch, avoiding the crate because they “looked sad,” skipping the structured walk because the day was too busy. But those choices, while understandable, often weren’t made for the dog’s long-term well-being. They were made based 𝘰𝘯 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵.

☝🏻𝙉𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙚’𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩.

We're not just training your dog—𝘸𝘦'𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶. Teaching you how to communicate more clearly, lead more confidently, and live more intentionally with your dog. You’re learning how to guide, correct, reward, redirect, and anticipate. You're learning how to be firm, yet fair, learning how to read your dog, and how to create a life that works 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶.💪🏻

That’s why dog training is hard.
𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙗𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙤𝙡 "𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙠"—𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣.

💫We’re asking for consistency. For patience. For follow-through when your dog pushes back, and for clarity when you’re unsure. We’re asking you to step up as a leader—not by being harsh, but by being structured, reliable, and calm. And while your dog learns to stop doing things just because they want to and start doing things because they want to please you—you’re learning to lead in a way that builds trust, not tension.

At first, it feels like a lot.
But soon, that "new normal" starts to feel good.
You see progress. You feel more capable. Your dog is calmer, more focused, more connected. And suddenly, the life you thought was slipping away is replaced by one that’s even better.

𝙔𝙚𝙨, 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙗𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙙. 𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙞𝙨.
And we’ll be with you every step of the way—coaching, encouraging, and helping you build the partnership you’ve always wanted with your dog.🐾🌻

✨𝙁𝙞𝙭 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙤𝙤𝙩, 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣✨

That growl? That bark? That lunge? Those aren’t the 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘴—they're symptoms. What’s really going on is often insecurity, anxiety, frustration, or poor emotional regulation.

When your dog barks excessively, pulls and reacts on leash, or growls at guests—it’s not just about the behavior you see. It’s about the 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 behind it. And if we only correct the behavior without understanding the emotion driving it, we’re putting a lid on a pot that’s about to boil over.

👉🏻Think of it like an Instant Pot with the lid not sealed right. The pressure builds and builds—until it eventually explodes. There’s even a TV show where that happens, and it’s catastrophic. Dogs are the same way. You can suppress a behavior through correction, but if you never show the dog 𝘩𝘰𝘸 to feel differently, or what to do instead, that pressure doesn’t go away. It just gets redirected—sometimes toward the trigger, and sometimes toward you.

Reactivity, for example, isn’t a “barking problem.” It’s a response. If we focus only on silencing the bark, we miss the chance to help the dog regulate their emotions and view the trigger in a new light.

☝🏻Now, can you have a dog with poor behavior that’s more superficial— where they just need clarity, structure, and to be shown what is and isn’t acceptable through obedience? Absolutely. That happens. But in general, especially with the cases we see today, that’s usually the exception—not the norm. Most of the time, the issues are deeper, and the solutions require more than surface-level obedience.

🌟Lasting change comes when we help our dogs think about & process information we deliver clearly while helping them be more confident and capable of handling the world around them. Our job isn’t just to say “𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩”—it’s to say “𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙙𝙤 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙙.”

𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩: 𝙋𝙝𝙤𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙭

Congratulations to Phoenix and her incredible family on completing their training journey with us — and a huge round of applause for passing her Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test!

👉🏻Phoenix is a one-year-old Golden Retriever who came to us after her family explored several training routes — from DIY efforts and group puppy classes to in-home sessions with various trainers and training styles. They did everything they could, truly investing in what they believed were the right methods and the right people. Unfortunately, despite their best intentions, those approaches unintentionally created demand behaviors that escalated into some serious challenges.

𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙, 𝙋𝙝𝙤𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙭 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙤𝙨:

❌Lunging at people and other dogs
❌Mom couldn't walk her alone
❌Biting and ripping the child’s clothes
❌Destroying the home, including eating/digging the walls
❌Throwing herself against the crate when let out in excitement
❌Zero impulse control or structure

So, we hit the ground running. We laid a foundation of impulse control, structure, and clear boundaries — starting with the crate and management strategies when direct training wasn’t possible.

𝙁𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚, 𝙬𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙚𝙙:

✅Door manners and the place command - learning its okay to do "nothing"
✅Structured heel and long-range recall
✅Training in high-distraction environments like stores and parks
✅Appropriate outlets for her drive
✅A lifestyle rooted in clear communication and calm leadership

🌟Phoenix places herself in the home when she needs to settle
🌟The family’s pr***en is actively working with her — and doing a great job!
🌟She no longer acts on impulse, but waits for direction
🌟She's thriving within the boundaries that used to feel impossible

And the cherry on top? This rockstar girl nailed her CGC test and will be working toward her therapy dog certification over the next few months — using her new skills to give back and bring comfort to others in need. We couldn’t be prouder of her transformation, and of the dedication, patience, and love her family poured into every step of the journey.

Thank you for trusting me to be part of your journey — whether I was the third, fourth, or somewhere in between… I’m honored to be the FINAL trainer who helped bring it all together.

𝙎𝙤 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙒𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙖 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣… 🐾

Showing up to a Golden Retriever consultation lately has me on my toes. More often than not, it's for aggression or severe behavioral issues—and usually, the owner has no idea what type of Golden they actually have.

Now, this isn’t always a huge deal... unless we’re dealing with a field line dog whose intense drive and energy aren’t being met—or someone who bought a Golden hoping to hunt, only to realize they have a show-line pup without the drive or genetics to do the job.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙞𝙨: 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙚.

👇🏻Let’s break it down:👇🏻

🌟𝙁𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧🌟
🐾 Bred for hunting, field work, and high-drive tasks
🐾 Energy Level - Very high; needs structured outlets
🐾 Temperament - Driven, focused, independent
🐾 Size & Appearance - Leaner frame, shorter coat, foxier features
🐾 Daily Needs - Extensive physical and mental enrichment
🐾 Best Fit For - Active homes, working roles, sport/performance homes

🌟𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙇𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧🌟
🐾 Bred for conformation shows and companionship
🐾 Energy Level - Moderate to high; content with walks and play
🐾 Temperament - Calm, affectionate, people-oriented
🐾 Size & Appearance - Heavier build, blocky head, longer/thicker coat
🐾 Daily Needs - Daily activity, affection, engagement with family
Best Fit For - Families, therapy work, lower-demand lifestyles

⚠️ 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙫𝙨. 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨
These differences are generalizations, not hard rules. Yes, there are show-line Goldens that can work and thrive in field or sport environments. Likewise, some field-bred Goldens live beautifully as pets in active homes that meet their needs.

But generally speaking, mismatches between a dog’s genetic makeup and their lifestyle often lead to frustration, unwanted behaviors, and even rehoming. It’s not about whether the dog is “good” or “bad”—it’s about whether their needs are being met.

🎨 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙧?
There’s also a lot of confusion around coat color. Golden Retrievers can range from deep red to light cream—and color alone doesn’t determine quality. Just because your dog isn’t that burnt golden or a pale English Cream doesn’t mean they’re poorly bred.

✨𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚, 𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩, 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙪𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚-𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙙𝙚.✨

🔬 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧
Whether you’re rescuing or shopping, understanding a dog’s genetic background is key. If you’re buying, go beyond labels like "field" or "show"—look for ethical breeders who prioritize temperament, structure, health, and purpose.

Backyard breeders may advertise “working lines” or “cream imports,” but if they aren’t health testing, breeding to standard, or matching dogs appropriately, you could end up with a dog who struggles medically or behaviorally—and that’s hard on everyone.

If you're thinking about adding a Golden to your life, take time to learn about their line, their needs, and how they’ll fit into your lifestyle. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘮𝘦𝘥—𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦- 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘶𝘴! 𝘞𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱!

With structure, support, and the right information, you and your Golden can thrive together. 🐶❤️

Rory’s journey over the past year has been incredible and yesterday marked a huge milestone in his progress!

For those who remember, Rory came from a rescue situation that left him deeply fearful of people and dogs, leading to intense reactivity and fear-based aggression. When I first started working with him and his mom, Ronnie, I couldn’t get close to him for the first hour of our session. But through patience, structure, and trust, we made strides—by this past summer, he could be within 10-15 feet of my personal dog in a very controlled setting.

With a recent move, Ronnie was concerned about setbacks. Life changes can be tough on dogs, especially those with Rory’s background. After a few months apart, we met for a refresher session, and I knew he was ready for more intensive work.

Yesterday, Allison and I picked him up and headed straight to Peace Valley Park—a busy environment on a beautiful Sunday, perfect for the challenge.

This session focused on the heel command and more intense threshold work. Rory’s past training built confidence through environmental management and simple commands, but it was time to push further. He needed to learn he didn’t have to live in a constant state of fight or flight—he could exist calmly in the world. And he crushed it!

With clear, fair, and consistent communication, he handled being close to bikes, dogs, and people—situations that once triggered him. He showed zero aggression and, even when reactive dogs lunged near him, he remained neutral with appropriate threshold space. Another win? Allison was even able to work him!

We took plenty of photos and videos for Ronnie before heading back to teach her the new skills we’re layering in. What started as small goals—like simply walking him outside her home—has now evolved into visiting busy parks, and maybe even a dog-friendly restaurant or coffee shop one day.
