Thank you, thank you, thank you to the students, families, and staff from the Xavier Catholic School for doing a donation drive for us! We were blown away when the bus full of 7th graders showed up with all of these goodies for the pets. You all are amazing and we are tremendously grateful!

We apologize for getting so behind on all of our thank yous, but your generosity this holiday season truly blew us away. ❤

First, thank you to everyone who participated in our Reverse Advent Calendar drive in December!! We had the best time unpacking your totes as they came in and we at times felt bad for our sweet Amazon drivers who came to visit us daily with so! many! goodies! Unfortunately, Amazon has made it kind of tough to thank everyone who donates off of our wishlist privately (which we are working on), but just know that we appreciate each and every donation so, so much even though we don’t get to tell you in person! We got to start the new year off with peace of mind and fully stocked shelves because of you! ❤

A big and continued thank you to Justin and crew at 11Worth Station BrewHouse-- we have had the best time putting on events with you and we are excited for all of the events to come! Some other big shout outs and thank yous that we would like to scream from the rooftops are to Dave and the crew from Island Spice Jamaican Restaurant, Tammy and the Lynnmark Mercantile team, Cari and all of the humans at First City Creatives, and last but not least, to Sharon and all of the ranch hands at Roverwood Ranch! Another MASSIVE thank you to Dr. Simon and the fabulous people at Pleasant Valley Veterinary Clinic who have taken such good care of our animals who needed to see them. These guys are all such incredible people and we are so glad to call you all our friends. The support you show to us and more importantly to the pets here is something we don't take for granted. ❤

We also want to thank our friends at 10th Ave Liquor and Tiffany Andrews - State Farm Insurance Agent for hosting Angel Trees for us this year (and also for their continued support year-round!) Every pet in our care received something special from Santa Paws this year! Many toys have been heavily played with and so many treats have been happily eaten!

Lastly, a huge thank you to YOU! Thank you for liking, for sharing, for tagging your friends, and interacting with us online. From sharing our adoptable pets, supporting all of our fundraisers, and helping us out when we need you the most.. it's nearly impossible for us to convey our gratitude in its entirety. ❤ We don't want to leave anyone out here but to every class, every scout troop, every business, every single person, couple, or family who contributed to us in some way at some point in time– We thank you so, so much for your love, for your kindness, and for your support. 2024 was tough, but we are excited to see what 2025 will have in store!

Did someone say small, yappy, and fluffy?! Meet Quartz! We want to start this off by clarifying that in Quartz' case, an in-person meet and greet is required before your adoption application is able to be approved. She can be a bit fickle with new people and it takes her a little bit to warm up to strangers, but Quartz is an absolute lover girl once she knows that she can trust you! She's a smaller girl and this world can be big and scary– so we can't blame her for being nervous! This girl came to us after having to be live-trapped shortly before the worst of the storm rolled in on January 4th. She was absolutely covered in matting, full of burrs, and we even found a few buggies and thorns hidden under all of it. She is only about 3 years old and she truly has so much love to give (even though it might take some extra time to earn that love!) Quartz has done okay with cats and other dogs so far, but she doesn’t really love it when they come near her food bowl while she is in her kennel. This is something that will likely get better with time and a bit of human help, it just hasn't quite clicked for her yet that everything in her bowl is hers to keep and she doesn’t have to compete for it! She spent the day at the desk with us yesterday and absolutely loved it! However, she did insist on having her own chair the whole time.. so , if you work from home and need some company, she would make a great co-worker! Overall, Quartz is just a great girl who deserves an equally great home! ❤

Pop, pop, hooray! It’s January 19th which means it's National Popcorn Day! 🍿🐾 Celebrating Popcorn Day is one of our favorite yearly traditions if you couldn't tell! At this point, it's safe to say we have a few popcorn catching professionals on our hands… and some who just tried their best! (When life throws popcorn your way, we all hope to be Petey... but sometimes we’re Trinket. 😂)

Every quarter, Dillons sends us a check through the Community Rewards Program. The Leavenworth County Humane Society, Inc. will be closed to the public from Saturday, January 18th through Monday, January 20th. Being closed an extra day before a Federal Holiday gives our staff and volunteers the chance to get some extra cleaning done and spend extra time with all of the pets! We will continue to be available to our animal control and law enforcement partners during this time, as always.

As we understand, this is modeled on the people version of urgent care. Walk-in, no appointment needed, NOT an Emergency Room or trauma center. Extremely helpful for people with pets who need to see a vet for diagnosis / treatment without waiting for an appointment! Thank you, Dr. Lightfoot & team.
