Have we mentioned lately that we still have quite a few kittens looking for their forever homes?! These are just a few of them! All of these babies are under a year old and still as fun as can be! Be sure to check the captions on each photo for more information about each of these cuties! ❤🐾

Snow days are just for playing in and with the snow.. right?! Well, that’s what we use them for at LCHS, Inc. anyways! The dogs always LOVE getting to play in the snow and they’re still excited to see so much of it outside! (Well, most of them are.) The cats always miss out on all of the snowy fun, so we had to bring some inside for them to investigate too! 🐾❄️

Due to the inclement weather the Leavenworth County Humane Society, Inc. will be closed to the public on Tuesday, January 7th. We will continue to be available to our animal control and law enforcement partners during this time as always, and our necessary staff will be onsite to make sure the pets get taken care of (and get to play in all of this snow!)

Additionally, due to the road conditions the K-State crew and their mobile unit were unable to make it up to us for the planned surgery day. If you were supposed to pick up your kitten today after their spay or neuter procedure, please check your emails for more information!

January 3, 2009, Crystal drove in a snow storm to West Des Moines, IA to deliver Gidget to her new family. Before the re-launch, but after being licensed as a Rescue Network. Gidget was a sweet girl, and she SCORED big time with her new family. Ah memories.

What a month it's been! As we wrap up 2024, it's time to celebrate everyone who found their forever homes this December! We are so excited for all of these pets that get to start fresh in their new homes for the new year. 🐾❤️

Thank you to everyone who gave a pet their second chance this year! If you're still looking for a furry friend, there are still plenty more waiting to meet you in 2025!

A new Winter Reading is upon us! This winter we've partnered with Leavenworth County Humane Society, Inc. for the Pages for Paws & Purrs Reading Challenge. This kicks off Jan. 1st. and will run through Feb. 28th. Any age of reader can participate, and both print books and audiobooks work! Then, invite friends, family, co-workers to pledge any dollar amount they are comfortable with for each book you read or listen to during the challenge. The more you read, the more we raise for LCHS and their support of all of the dogs and cats in our community. We're so excited to be able to help them in their mission that we've partnered with fellow Leavenworth County libraries Basehor Community Library and Community Library too!

2025 is getting closer and closer! We know one of the most popular New Year's Resolutions is to read more, and we are ready to help you get motivated. In partnership with the Tonganoxie Public Library, Basehor Community Library, and Lansing Community Library, we are hosting our first Pages for Paws & Purrs Fundraiser! Readers can ask their friends and family to pledge a certain dollar amount per book read or a flat donation amount. You can even form teams with your friends, a book club, a church group, or a classroom! Here is how you can participate:

Step 1: Fill out our Google Form to get access to the pledge site, where you can log your progress and ask for donations. (If you choose to form a team, each member must fill out the Google Form!) Fill out that form here: https://tinyurl.com/hkx268yk

Step 2: Once you receive our confirmation email, you can log in to your own page! You will also get a sample message to share with friends and family to ask for pledges.

Step 3: Get those pledges! Donations can be made via your page on the website, but we can also accept cash at the Leavenworth County Humane Society

Step 4: Log the books you read, and have a great time!

🐾🎁 REVERSE ADVENT CALENDAR - DAY TWENTY-FOUR 🎁🐾

We are finally here–the last day of our Reverse Advent Calendar! Today for Day 24 it is Free Choice- so it is all up to you! We cannot emphasize enough how grateful we are for our amazing Leavenworth County community. Thanks in large part to you, our animals will have the items needed to make the shelter the best temporary home possible while they await their new families. You can drop off your tote and all its items on December 27th or 28th from 10AM - 5PM, or sometime during our open hours in the new year! And don’t worry if you feel like you missed a day, you can double check below or just bring what you have–we are forever appreciative of you no matter what! We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, or simply a wonderful winter season. ❤🐾🎁
