❄️ DO NOT COUNT ON THE COLD TO KILL PARASITES! 🪱 🚨

Drum roll please… 🥁 New Friends Friday!! We’ve got a sweet group!

❄️Our sweet friend. “Nora” is here to say, even though the snow is SO MUCH FUN for some of our furry friends, here are a few safety precautions to keep in mind:
💙Check the paws: Check your dog’s paws frequently for signs of cold-weather injury or damage, such as cracked or bleeding paw pads. During a walk, a sudden lameness may be due to an injury or may be due to ice accumulation between his/her toes. You may be able to reduce the chance of iceball accumulation by clipping the hair between your dog’s toes.
💙Play dress-up: If your dog has a short coat or seems bothered by the cold weather, consider a sweater or dog coat. Have several on hand, so you can use a dry sweater or coat each time your dog goes outside. Wet sweaters or coats can actually make your dog colder. Some pet owners also use booties to protect their dog’s feet; if you choose to use them, make sure they fit properly.
💙Wipe down: During walks, your dog’s feet, legs and belly may pick up de-icing products, antifreeze, or other chemicals that could be toxic. When you get back inside, wipe down (or wash) your pet’s feet, legs and belly to remove these chemicals and reduce the risk that your dog will be poisoned after (s)he licks them off of his/her feet or fur. Consider using pet-safe de-icers on your property to protect your pets and the others in your neighborhood.

❤️💚Long but important post.💚❤️

Holidays are here and company is over. 🎄
Please keep people food away from pets, and instruct everyone else to do the same.
If you want to share holiday treats with your pets, make or buy treats formulated just for them.

✅ The following people foods are especially dangerous for pets:
🚨 Chocolate is an essential part of holidays for many people, but it is toxic to dogs and cats. It's safest to consider all chocolate off limits for pets, even though the harm it can cause varies based on the type of chocolate, the size of your pet, and the amount eaten.
🚨 Other sweets and baked goods also should be kept out of reach. Not only are they often too rich for pets; they may contain the artificial sweetener xylitol, which has been linked to liver failure and death in dogs.
🚨Table scraps – including gravy, sauces, dressing, and meat or poultry fat or skin – should be kept away from pets.
During the holidays, when our own diets tend toward extra-rich foods, table scraps can be especially hard for pets to digest and can cause pancreatitis.
🚨Bones can cause choking or intestinal blockage.
🚨Plus, many foods that are healthy for people are poisonous to pets, including onions, raisins, and grapes.
🚨Unbaked yeast dough can cause problems for pets, including painful gas and potentially dangerous bloating.

☎️ Quick action can save lives!
Signs that your pet may have eaten something they shouldn't include sudden behavior changes, depression, pain, loss of appetite, vomiting, or diarrhea.
🥼🩺If your pet has any of these signs, call your veterinarian or nearest veterinary emergency clinic immediately.
You may also want to call the ASPCA Poison Control Center (888-426-4435) or the Pet Poison Helpline (855-764-7661); note that a fee may apply.

🎄🐾 We all have a photo of our cat in the Christmas tree or know someone that does! 🤦🏻‍♀️
We’d like to share these precautions to help keep your Holidays safe. ❤️

✅ Tinsel, ribbons, wreaths, and other decorative materials can be tempting for pets to play with and eat.
These items whether swallowed in whole or in part can cause choking or intestinal blockage and serious damage!
✅Water additives for Christmas trees can be hazardous to your pets if swallowed.
Avoid adding anything to the water for your tree if you have pets in the house.
Call us with any concerns or if your pet is needing to be seen due to their curiosity getting the better of them. 🥼🩺
