✨Whisker Wisdom Wednesday✨

Did you know that black dogs have one of the lowest chances of being adopted?

Black dogs are often associated with misfortune making them less appealing than lighter colored dogs. They also tend to be harder to photograph making it more challenging to read facial expressions and less appealing in social media posts. While these dogs may be viewed as boring and less unique, we can guarantee their personalities are anything but that.

Sweet "Licorice" understands this statistic all too well as she has been waiting almost a year for someone to give her a chance. Little "Eve" is slowly learning what it is like to be overlooked as she has been waiting since Christmas.

We will now be offering a Pet Food Pantry! Our mission with the LCAC Food Pantry is to provide assistance to those in need of food for their pets during difficult times. This program is only available for those residing in Lapeer County.

Due to continued issues with our Blessing Box, we have decided to shift over to this new program. The Blessing Box will still be available for non food items as supplies allow.

Please visit the form if you or someone you know is in need.

** Our ability to assist relies solely on donations and supply may not always be available **

‼️ IN NEED OF A FOSTER HOME ‼️

Meet Lena 🐾

Lena is a 2-3 year old, female (spay scheduled 2/18), Shepherd mix. Lena is shy at first but warms up once she gets to know you. She walks well on leash and is potty-trained. Unfortunately, Lena has been having some minor medical concerns. She is very overwhelmed in the shelter environment and has been having what our vet believes are stress-induced focal seizures. We are searching for a foster at this time that can provide a quiet, relaxed home and can monitor her more closely. Our goal is to see if this is truly just something that is brought on by stress, or if it's going to continue outside of the shelter environment.

If you think your home would be a good fit for her, please fill out our foster application: https://forms.gle/evX7FUMSXPQtUvz57
