Im sure y'all been wondering and Doc underestimates just how much everyone follows this page, so he didnt think updates were necessary. Lol. How wrong he was.

The fall Doc had back in early October actually... well long story short, broke his back. Bilateral fractures of the sacrum. He worked a month with that broken back, each day worse than the one before. He had surgery to correct it last Wednesday Dec 3rd. As of right now, he is doing all he can to build up strength again. We expect he will be down rest of year. Yes I know that sounds absolutely awful except there is only 3 more weeks left of this year. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ 2025 has been a super rough year for Doc, and well, all of us really. Here is hoping 2026 treats Doc alot better.

I will update once we start scheduling again but for now, we sure appreciate your prayers and well wishes. Doc is doing all he can to get back at it.

If you anticipate needing medicine over the holiday, you need to contact me ASAP. I will not be handling requests or making orders Thanksgiving week. Its highly advisable if you have a horse you have banamine and bute on hand. There have been a high number of cases of colic lately with us and other area vets. With Doc down and vets in low supply and high demand, I strongly advise you keep a tube of banamine on hand.

I also highly advise getting a thermometer and learning to take a temp. It simply amazes me how many with animals have never felt the need. It is the first question we ask when you say your animal is sick. A basic digital from drug store works fine or we sell them here.

Well here we go again...

You may have noticed Doc moving little slower lately. He took a fall a few weeks back that has set him back pretty good. Instead of getting better... it only seems to get worse. Imaging and scans so far have not shown anything. We are waiting on results now from yesterday's MRI. So what does this mean??? Yep you guessed it. Doc is down and unable to work right now. When we know more ill update you but for now...

Dr Smith is unavailable until further notice. If you have an emergency or need care, please refer to other area veterinarians. Donna and I are still manning the office but will be adjusted hours for a bit so call ahead before making the trip to ensure we are there.

Additionally supply issued continue to plague us with numerous medicines on manufacture backorder. We will not be allowing you to "stock up" on meds. Some meds never seem to have an issue and others always are so... if we tell you know. There is a reason. We do out best to accommodate need and will continue to do so.

Thanks for reading. Ill be in touch as more info is available.

Honoring ALL Veterans today and always.

On Veteranโ€™s Day we honor all those who have served our country in war or peace โ€” dead or alive. Sergeant Reckless โ€“ a war horse for the Marines during the Korean War - gave everything she had. The mare carried both ammunition and wounded soldiers from the front lines. She was given two Purple Hearts along with many other military decorations for her service.

Sgt. Reckless was loved and respected by the Marines she served with and because of her amazing performance throughout the war, she was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Below is a tribute to Sgt. Reckless at Camp Pendleton in So Cal.
