Happy 4th of July, Laramie! A few tips for pet owners today.
Keep a collar and ID tags on all pets. This is your pet's ticket home.
Make sure all microchips are properly registered. The shelter will search to the end of the earth to find who that pet belongs to, but a properly registered chip makes it easy for everyone!
If your pet is prone to have issues with loud noise, secure them in a room for containment. If you have an air conditioner, or fan, turn that on for white noise. A radio is also helpful.
If the vet has given your pet drugs to calm them, make sure to give said drugs at the proper time for maximum effect.

If all else fails and your pet gets loose, make your first call to the animal shelter, 307-721-5385 so staff can identify pets that come in over this long weekend.

Girl Scout troop #1169 made goodie bags for our adoptable dogs and cats. They had toys, treats and information about caring for the pet. ( they also took pity on starving Animal Control officers with a donation of cookies!) Thank you for thinking about all of us!

Scruffy Saturday? We didn't get Fuzzy Friday posted yesterday so you get scruffy Saturday.

Dispatcher Blevens went to the animal shelter and met 2 of their adoptable pets.

Toby! I am a very social boy who loves attention. I am a mature adult possibly around 8 years old and already neutered. I will be microchipped and vaccinated upon adoption.

Trixie is a sweet 3-4 year old Chihuahua. She bonds tightly to the people she picks, and will tolerate everyone else. She is mostly housebroken, and has been able to co-habitate with other dogs and cats successfully. Trixie does have epilepsy, but is doing well on her medications. She will need those medications for the rest of her life. Trixie is already spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations.

The Laramie Animal Shelter has a barn cat program. Some of our cats aren't social to people, but also aren't safe to stay in the place they were. So, we're happy to work with our rural community in helping them with rodent control by providing them with some of our spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped friends with a chip on their shoulder. Here's a sample of some of our current barn cat candidates. You can also see our current list of adoptable animals on our website at https://www.adoptapet.com/shelter/86898-laramie-animal-shelter-laramie-wyoming

We get to celebrate our week with some pretty fantastic people!

We would like to thank our dispatchers and animal control officers during their appreciation weeks.
Your hard work does not go unnoticed. Thank you for your dedication to your professions, your sacrifice, giving up holidays and family events. You deserve so much more than a week for the unseen efforts and underappreciated work that you do for your community. Thank you for all you do!

Check out Fay at the animal shelter available for adoption!
