Today is National Pet Obesity Awareness Day. Don't let your pet be a pig!๐Ÿท๐Ÿคฃ

Here are some tips to help keep your pet at a healthy weight:
1. Track their weight - Knowing your pet's current and ideal weight will help you to make sure that your pet is in a healthy weight range. Don't have a scale? You can stop in the clinic anytime for a free weigh in.

2. Double check serving sizes - Portion control can be challenging...especially when they give us those sad puppy dog eyes. To avoid overfeeding, stick to specific meal times and portions and keep track of what treats your pet is getting. Small treats and table scraps can add up to lots of extra calories for your furry friend.

3. Select the right food - Make sure that your pet is getting the correct food for their age, breed, health conditions, and lifestyle. Feel free to give us a call if you have questions about selecting the right food for your pet.

4. Keep them active - Exercise is not only good for their physical health, but also for their mental health.

We have been seeing an increase in cases of Parvo lately here in Laramie. If your puppy/dog is not fully vaccinated, we recommend avoiding high traffic dog areas such as dog parks. Canine parvovirus is easily spread by direct contact with infected dogs, contact with f***s (stool) from infected dogs, or contact with virus-contaminated surfaces. Young puppies are especially susceptible to canine parvovirus. Symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, and loss of appetite. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the clinic!
