Hello Coastal Family. Unfortunately our Tampa clinic will be closed for Friday, May 30th. We will be resuming normal operating hours on Saturday, May 31st. Our Largo location will still be open for its usual operating hours.

Mental health month is this month and we would like to spread the awareness of mental health in the veterinary field. In 2019, 1 in 6 veterinarians consider su***de at some point in their career. This is a big factor in veterinary medicine; not just veterinarians go through this so do the technicians, assistants, and receptionists.
There are 3 ways to lessen the bad mental health in veterinary medicine:
-Be patient with your vet team
-Trust your vet team
-Be kind to your vet team
Everyone goes through things and no matter if it’s at the vet or not, be kind to one another, it can go a long way❤️

happy veterinary receptionist week!!
We are so very thankful for our receptionists and all they do for us ❤️
Meet our receptionists: Opal (slide 1), Thea (slide 2), Guillermo (slide 3),and Kelly (slide 4)
-Opal favorite animal is cats. Opal chose veterinary medicine because she wanted a change and to work with animals only. She enjoys to see patients come in and feel better when they leave.
-Thea favorite animal is an Orca. Thea chose veterinary medicine because she grew up around all types of animals which lead her to develop a passion and desire to help and care for them in whatever way she can!
-Guillmero favorite animal is an otter. He chose veterinary medicine because he’s always felt that pets are family just as much as the people in our lives!
-All dogs are Kelly’s favorite. She chose veterinary medicine because she wants to make each pet and owner feel seen, heard and cared for. It's the best feeling ever when a pet comes in excited to see us!

Since dental cleaning month is over, it is good to continue to know the importance of dental cleanings all year round! 🦷
Dental cleanings are done by starting with the doctor doing a full dental examination then scaling the teeth and polishing afterwards, all while the pet is under general anesthesia. When scaling the teeth the plaque and tartar below and above the gum line will be removed. Polishing is done to finish the cleaning because it decreases the rate of plaque build up.
Tartar below the gum line causes the worst forms of periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is an infection and inflammation of the periodontium (tissue surrounding the tooth). This starts with gingivitis and if left untreated can spread deeper into the socket of the tooth causing pain and destroying the bone making the tooth become loose. If left untreated it can become a severe dental disease and the bacteria can get into the bloodstream to then affect the major organs like kidney, liver, and heart!
Continue to kiss your pets with confidence all year round! Dental cleanings are very important to the health of your pet. If you are concerned your dog has dental disease please bring them in for a consult with our doctor.🤍🐶
