During the month of December, we are spreading some paw-liday cheer by sharing heartwarming stories from our adopters and our community! 🧡

This past Thursday, we hosted our Deck the Paws event at Largo Central Park and had the best time taking photos of all of the pups and families 🎅📸

Thank you to everyone who attended (more photos to come!) You all helped us raise over $500 for our shelter 🥳

✨🐾 Spreading Paw-liday Cheer 🐾✨

During the month of December, we will be spreading some paw-liday cheer by sharing heartwarming stories from our adopters and our community! 🧡

Cassie (previously Murphy) was brought to SPCA Tampa Bay back in April with a leg injury. Our medical team determined that amputating her leg would give her the best chance at the happy, healthy life that she deserved! After her surgery, Cassie went into a foster home to recover and her foster parents knew instantly that she was going to be part of the family forever 🐶🐾

Having three legs never dampens Cassie's spirits nor stops her from running and playing like any other dog. Her two younger sisters, Ellie and June, may be larger than her, but she makes sure to keep them in line. Her family feels so lucky to have had the opportunity to foster and adopt this sweet girl, and they have made it their mission to ensure she is always surrounded by so much love (aka toys 🧸, treats 🦴, and tennis balls 🥎).

🦌 Want to adopt a reindeer for Christmas? 🦌

This sweet senior is named Blue! Blue is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy who enjoys the simple things in life like nice walks, peanut butter treats and ear rubs. In his previous home, he lived with other dogs as well as children of all ages. He also has experience with crate training!

Some of Blue's hobbies include swimming, snuggling and playing with his pup pals. If you think this gentle man could be the right fit for your family, stop by the shelter to meet him! He cannot wait to be a family dog again 🧡

Don't forget, Blue can be adopted for just $50 as a part of our Silver Bells Adoption Event. Today is the final day of this promotion!

Remember Ocean and Oz (now Lucy Lou and Ozzie)? These two felines were adopted from SPCA Tampa Bay in February 2024 and October 2019 and are now loving life together in their new home 😸 They spend their days exploring their screened-in porch and snuggling up in their cozy kitty beds. We could not be happier for these two!

🐾 Deck the Paws with SPCA Tampa Bay! 🐾

Join us at the Holiday Lights in Largo Central Park on Thursday, December 19! 🎄Featuring a special photo opportunity for you and your pups with Santa Claus 🎅 himself from 6-8pm!

This family-friendly annual tradition presented by the City of Largo features a truly spectacular holiday light display. Bring your pups to Largo Central Park for a holiday stroll through the beautiful lights ✨ and enjoy a variety of crafts 🎨 and activities for all ages, including a Ferris wheel 🎡 and carousel 🎠, a campfire 🔥, and delicious food 😋 Dogs are encouraged to attend this pet-friendly event, but must be on a leash at all times 🐕

Park admission is free! There is a suggested donation of $5 for dog photos with Santa, benefitting SPCA Tampa Bay 🐾

On Thursday, Dec. 12, City of Largo team members from various departments teamed up with SPCA Tampa Bay to create over 450 pet care packages for local pet owners in need. The packages, filled with food, treats, litter, and pet care resources, will be distributed to help furry friends and their families. Adoptable pups Molly and Scooby even stopped by to spread some tail-wagging joy! Thanks to all who helped make a paws-itive impact in our community. 🐾🐶🐱

🐾 Double Your Impact on Wildlife 🐾

SPCA Tampa Bay is dedicated to supporting the Tampa Bay community 365 days a year. Our shelter serves thousands of injured wild animals annually - animals just like this little opossum.

This young female Virginia Opossum came to our Wildlife Team in March with a swollen left paw. Radiographs did not reveal any breaks in the paw and the swelling was determined to be caused by an abscess. After lancing the abscess, our veterinarian placed a drain in the paw to ensure proper healing. The opossum stayed in rehab at our facility for about a month, allowing her plenty of time to recover. Once she reached an appropriate size and could climb and forage on her own, she was released back into the wild.

SPCA Tampa Bay is dedicated to supporting the Tampa Bay community 365 days a year. Our shelter serves thousands of homeless animals in need annually - animals just like Pepsi.

Pepsi was surrendered to us when his family was no longer able to afford his care. During his time at the shelter, Pepsi received treatment for his dental disease and upper respiratory infection as well as surgery to remove his ears which contained cancerous growths. After a smooth recovery, this sweet boy was quickly adopted and is now living a happy, healthy life with his new family.

We cannot do what we do without your help. Please consider making a donation to SPCA Tampa Bay to allow us to continue providing quality care to animals like Pepsi. 🐶 Give to help animals like Nyla 🐶

Nyla came to SPCA Tampa Bay limping and dragging her back leg. An old injury to the leg hadn’t healed properly and for Nyla, the best option was to remove the damaged limb. We did, and Nyla spent time in foster care, getting strong, and learning how to do “zoomies” on three legs.

Her foster mom said Nyla was a perfect guest. She spent much of the day relaxing close by to wherever her foster mom was working. Nyla returned to the shelter, ready to find her new family. And it didn’t take long for someone to fall in love with her happy spirit.

Today Nyla spends her days playing with her house-mate, watching the world go by in the window seat at the front of the house, and doing her zoomies, happy in her new home!

Elliot was surrendered to us after his family lost their home to Hurricane Milton. He was terrified when he first arrived and our team did everything we could to make him feel safe until he found a new home. Once adopted, it took Elliot no time at all to settle in with his new family and relax.
