Yesterday it was late in the afternoon and he cried. He wanted to go out one more time but we were closing and I did not get him out. I thought about him all night. Housebroken, confused and lonely.
Poor Clark. No, thatโs not his given name. He had an owner who commented on his intake photo that he was 10 years old, but when asked for more information about him, crickets.
This happens all the timeโowned pets picked up as strays and never claimed. These former owners may have their reasons but it is the pet that ultimately suffers.
So now poor Clark at 10 years old sits at the overcrowded shelter hoping for a new family. It would have been nice to have a history to pass along and to assist us with finding his next best family. But that rarely happens.
Clark will eventually learn his new name, he will eventually forget his past, and he will eventually overcome his feeling of abandonment. We will do our best to help him along this new journey.
For now, we know he is a sweet, mild mannered, walks well on a leash, senior boy who is starting over.
