Last week, our wonderful volunteer, Kandy, took Mia to visit the residents at Haciendas at Grace Village. They visit people at four buildings at the facility to share doggy love and joy.
🐾🧡🐾
Mia is a young adult we got recently from the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley. She is the sweetest short gal you'll ever meet! And she'll be going soon to our Southern New Mexico PAWS prison training program to learn obedience and other skills.
Also--our goal to greatly increase our APA Recurring Donor Heroes continues! Please sign up to support our work in this community in any amount your budget allows. We have about 260 recurring donors now--but for an organization that runs a facility caring for 100+ animals 24/7 with no type of secure government support--we rely on your consistent generosity. More fun from doggy play group day ... we are still seeking a foster home ASAP for the tallest boy--Toby. He is highly stressed being kenneled. He's a sweet, gentle giant. 🥰

Special thanks to Bernalillo County Animal Care and Resource Center for helping us save so many more feline lives this year! And thanks to all our wonderful transport volunteers who got them safely there for us so many times!! 🐾💖🐾

We truly need the consistent support of our community to rescue nonstop. We only rescue animals in Dona Ana County and will continue to do so as long as our shelter is overwhelmed and putting down savable animals. Becoming an APA Recurring Donor in any amount your budget allows is the BIGGEST way to contribute to our lifesaving mission. There are many ways to give; learn more here: https://apalascruces.org/become-a-recurring-donor/

Our doggies love playgroup day! The tallest guy is Toby, and he does not like being in a kennel at all. We would love to find him a foster home soon. And all these cuties are ready for a home. Most are graduates of our Southern New Mexico PAWS prison training program or set to go get trained. Toby recently graduated.

Goodnight from Jimbob! This litte trooper was already eager for breakfast this morning and acting like his ole, happy self. He's such a strong spirit!
He had major oral surgery yesterday where all his teeth were removed; neglect in care led to his jaw partially dissolving; he has a serious heart murmur; and he just got neutered at 10+ years old.
Talk about a little fighter!! We adore him!

We are super-full on our large dog side, and poor Toby is a very stressed guy in his kennel. We had a return today as well.
If anyone can give Toby a chance and foster him for a while, it would be a huge help. He's a big, shy, sweet guy who loves other dogs. He recently graduated from our Southern New Mexico PAWS prison training program.
Also available is the Doggy Day Out program to take dogs for outings for a few hours or home for a few days. ANY help for Toby is appreciated! And other dogs are available to foster as well. If you can help, please text our ED at 575-644-0505.

Our Mission and Vision for DAC

Our mission is to help Dona Ana County reach our No Kill goal to eliminate the unnecessary killing of companion animals via progressive & friendly animal-welfare programs and services. Our vision is that our efforts will help transform our community to improve the quality of life for companion animals and greatly reduce the number of abandoned and homeless animals impounded and killed at our municipal shelter.
