How to Groom a Schnauzer part 2, The Head
Summer travel season is rapidly approaching. How do you keep your dogs cool and safe in the car?
Pups at play 😊 so cute! Enjoy!
(And yes, we do have puppies who will be ready to go to their forever homes shortly)
Cleo & Finn pups (DOB 1/27/24)
Wednesday, 2/27/24 Video 3 of 3
Cleo’s babies continue improving their motor skills by playing and exploring the playpen (and any human toes or fingers they find!). Check out how much “real” food (puppy food & puppy formula mashed into a gruel) they are eating! They are still getting most of their calories nursing Mom, but these are HUGE developmental steps for these kids!
And yes, we do have puppies still available. Message us if you are interested. We do screen new “parents”, and always enjoy talking about Miniature Schnauzers! :-)
Cleo & Finn pups (DOB 1/27/24) Video 2 of 3
Tues, 2/26/24: Motor skills are improving by leaps & bounds! Just 24 hours since moved out of the nursery, and already they can follow Mom up into the sleeping area, or down to eat & play in the playpen!
For those who have asked, yes, we do have puppies still available. Message us if you are interested. We do screen new “parents”, and always enjoy talking about Miniature Schnauzers! :-)
Cleo & Finn pups (DOB 1/27/24) Puppy grow & learn so fast!! Cleo’s babies turned 4 weeks old on Sat. 2/24. This is a milestone birthday! Now walking (a little unsteady at times, but improving daily); they are ready to move out of the nursery (my bedroom, where I can check on them during the night) into bigger quarters- the playpen, AND start eating food! Check out these 3 video’s taken over the last 4 days at how they are learning, exploring & developing their motor skills by leaps & bounds! Video 1 = First day in the playpen 2/25
The only way Boris will drink at agility trials. Such a goofy boy. He is also the father of Echo’s puppies.
We have toddlers!! Echo’s cute Mr Green is determined to be first to get some people loving!
Oceans puppies playing 8 weeks old
Silly boy can’t figure out how to get a treat without putting down his favorite toy.
It’s a “way back Wednesday.” Enjoy this video from 6 years ago of Nyx’s 8 week old puppies being oh so clever. p.s. these guys are going to be aunts and uncles soon; their sister is going to have puppies. 🥳
PACH2-Jill asked me to explain this title.
PACH stands for Preferred Agility Champion. The 2 means it is the 2nd time Nyx has meet the requirements for this championship title. Agility championships take years to earn. There are two requirements, 20 double Q’s (Q stands for qualifying run, i.e. a perfect run.) and 750 speed points. Both requirements must be meet from the masters level. (Finn is 2 1/2 years old and has not made it into the master level yet.)
20 DOUBLE Q’s - At agility trials, dogs complete in several different events. The two major events are call Standard (the course in this video) and Jumpers With Weaves. To PACH, the dog must complete those two events perfectly (called a double Q or QQ) on the same day, 20 times. Nyx averages 1.5 of these perfect days for each 3 day trial. (This is a high QQ rate. I know many handlers who are happy with 1 QQ out of multiple weekends.)
750 SPEED POINTS - each course has a maximum course time based on the number of yards the dog must travel to complete the course. Speed points are calculated by finding the number of full seconds the dog has under course time. So if course time is 55 seconds and Nyx completes the course perfectly in 49.8 seconds, then she was 5.2 seconds under course time. 5.2 seconds is 5 full seconds, so she would have earned 5 speed points. Nyx averages 11 speed points per run. This is slower than most dogs. Nyx excels in consistency.
Nyx earned her first PACH in 19 agility trials (3 years). She earned her second PACH in 16 agility trials (2 years). This video is the last run Nyx needed to get her PACH2
