Stinky Dog’s Salon Where Stinky Dogs Belong • Las Vegas, NM

02/11/2025

Good morning Stinkies!! I hope you’re having a wonderful start to your week so far. I’m so thankful to say that I’m already booking into May- yay! Thank you so much! Because I’m booked so far in advance, any cancellations will have to wait until my next available opening and that may be 2 months out. I ask for your continued patience when rescheduling your stinky dogs.

As always, the more notice you give me the better chance you have at rescheduling for my earliest appointment. No-call no-shows are always subject to my cancellation fee. This is my sole source of income and I require the opportunity to bring in a different client if you cannot make it. I have all my clients sign a waiver so that they’re aware of this and all of my other house policies. I appreciate you all- please give your dogs a treat for me!

Kisses and tail wags,

Dominique ♥️🐾

Can anyone help keep these kitties warm tonight?

Can anyone help keep these kitties warm tonight?

Update - OUR COMMUNITY IS AMAZING. 🥰
Within an hour or so of posting this, our cats were all placed in foster homes and will be warm and loved until we can fix the heating issues!
We are so grateful and cannot even begin to explain how in a awe we are of the people who stepped up to help with this.
The dog kennels are warm for the night and they have lots of blankets because we're a little extra amd want them to be snug as bugs!
It takes a village and we are so lucky to have one. 💕

URGENT:

Our shelter is currently without electricity and with no promise of when the power will be restored, we are trying to plan for the worst.

Our biggest problem is making sure our animals stay warm.

We may have a solution for our canine kennels but not for our cats.

We have 7 CATS who need urgent fosters for a couple of days max!

We will provide a kennel, litter, food, and all other supplies.

If you have a corner in your home where these cats can stay warm, please reach out asap!

We have the following cats who need shelter for the next few days:

-Binx and Lexi -adults - best friends who are super shy and scared
-Oogie Boogie - young adult - very shy but super sweet
-Clove - kitten - very talkative and curious
-Reptar- kitten - playful and goofy
- Butterball - adult - very scared but so sweet
-Gingerbread - senior - scared and shy but sweet

Please text us at 505-617-6047 if you can help!!

Hey Stinkies!

This isn’t dog related, but some of you may know I’m a musician as well as a dog groomer. I’ve been a soprano in the Madrigal Choir at NMHU since 2019. Dr. André Garcia-Nuthmann, professor and choral director, is retiring. For his farewell, this semester’s concert will feature an orchestra and professional singers in addition to our Madrigal Choir. We are performing Handel’s Messiah.

André has put his heart and soul into being a mentor and professor at NMHU and it would be such a joy to see our community come and support us and him for this concert.

Can’t wait to see you all there!

Hello Stinkies,

Please be advised that I keep my door locked while I work for a few reasons.

1.) I work alone and it’s safer for me to keep the door locked as there a lot of homeless people wandering by my building. I’ve had a few instances where people on substances have tried to enter or did enter my building asking for money and they did not leave until threatened with police.

2.) It’s safer for my dogs who free roam. One of the reasons I have success is I don’t lock my dogs in a kennel. I have a comfy chair for them to sit on and they’re able to get used to my salon at a pace they’re comfortable with. I cannot do this if the door opens and they’re at risk of running out the door.

3.) I don’t refuse dogs who have extreme fear or anxiety. Having a calm, quiet environment helps them relax and I cannot do that with people coming in and out. If I finally get a dog calm, someone banging on the door doesn’t help.

I keep my door locked to keep me and my dogs safe. It doesn’t mean to bang on my doors and windows if I don’t answer.

With that being said, I am booked until the end of the year and I’m not accepting new clients. Thank you to all my loyal clients who have kept me so busy. I wish I could accommodate all dogs that need my help, but I’m only one person.

Thank you,

Dominique

I had a very rude client today make me cry.

She was a client who rather than speaking with me about concerns, kept threatening to take her business away. For example, she wasn’t happy with the parking outside my building. When I told her I had little control because I was renting, that I had already addressed it with my landlord, she told me that I should hire a lawyer and take him to court and if I didn’t do that, I was putting my clients at risk for crossing the street.

My first morning client was a little late picking up her dog today. Her sweet, beautiful dog is very docile. I know all the dogs I work with and who is dog friendly. I try to time my clients to be spaced out, but things happen. Client’s dog was napping when my second client came in, and the napping dog went to go smell them. My second client got very upset. I understand if you’re nervous with a loose dog, but her go to was an angry comment about “terminating our relationship.”

Upon pickup, I tried to talk to her. I told her I wished she would have to talked to me, rather than threaten to leave the way she did. I told her it hurt my feelings because I truly love her dogs with all my heart. She doubled down and told me I put her dogs at risk. She stared at me as I cried and continued to bicker rather than solve the problem. She continued to tell me that she didn’t like how I run my business because I’m booked too far out. We ended on not good terms.

Then I got this text. I realized- some people want to fight no matter what. Their hearts lack gentleness, the ability to talk things through, or the desire to level with people human to human. And that is not my problem.

I needed this message today and I want to share it. Small business owners- what we do is hard. But guess what- for every customer that hurts your feelings and makes you cry- there are more that appreciate you and make you cry GOOD tears.

I love the dogs I groom. With all of my heart. That’s all that matters.

Dominique

🚨 BARKING NEWS!! 🚨

Can you believe it’s been almost 2 years that Stinky Dog’s Salon has been operating in a building?! It’s so exciting for me and I’m so thankful for all my clients and their beautiful, stinky dogs.

Within these two years, I have learned so much about how to run a business, how to improve my techniques and skills, and what our community needs. I’m proud to say I’m a board member of the AWC and put time and effort into helping our communities stinky dogs as well as my clients.

With that said, after reflecting on my time and the cost of materials, Stinky Dog’s Salon will have a price increase for big dogs starting October 1. This is for big dogs only! If you have a small dog under 40 lbs, the price increase will not affect you. In the amount of time it takes me to groom one big dog, I could groom 2-3 small dogs and my prices need to reflect that.

In addition, I will be implementing a $30 late fee if you’re more than 30 minutes late picking up your dog from their appointment.

Please take a look at my new prices below. Thank you for your loyalty and understanding!!

Tail wags and kisses,
Dominique ♥️🐾
