Venus needs a hero!
UPDATE: Venus has been adopted! 😍
Venus is facing chronic medical issues, and she needs a hero to step up for her! Don’t be deceived by her tough exterior and grey muzzle—she’s still got lots of love to share! When Venus arrived at the shelter in November, her skin was flaky and infected with Demodex mites. She also has a dry eye condition, with her eyelid irritating her eye. With medication we’ve been able to manage her demodex infection, and she’s improving - her fur is starting to grow back. While her eye condition has shown improvement with treatment, she needs to see an ophthalmologist. Venus is an absolute gem. At 7 years old and 56 lbs she’s as sweet as they come. As soon as you take her out of her kennel, she’s prancing happily by your side, ready for an adventure. Venus knows sit and paw, and she’s so gentle when she takes her treats. Venus is available for adoption or transfer to a paw partner. Her adoption fee is waived. The Animal Foundation will cover the cost of her initial consultation with an ophthalmologist at Eye Care for Animals on Thursday, January 9, to ensure she receives the care she needs. If you decide to adopt her, you’ll just need to take her to the appointment. If you’re interested in adopting her, please come to the shelter. Her ID# is A1347987.

In October 2020, Alessandra’s dog, Coco Chanel, was stolen in Las Vegas.
Despite the heartbreak, Alessandra never gave up hope, keeping Coco’s microchip information up to date and praying for her safe return.
When Coco arrived at The Animal Foundation one day, our team scanned her for a microchip. It traced back to Alessandra, who now lives in Northern California.
When we called, Alessandra was overwhelmed with emotion.
“I almost dropped the phone. I knew it was about Coco. I was freaking out crying before I even answered the phone,” she shared. “I caught the first flight to Vegas at 6 the next morning.”
The reunion was pure joy, and the two are now back in California making up for lost time.
“She just turned 10. She’s very loving and likes to cuddle and likes to sleep in bed with you. She’s the same Coco she’s always been,” Alessandra said.

Sky is a sweet angel baby!
This 3-year-old, 82 lb girl is the perfect combination of affectionate and laid-back, always down for some cuddle time.
But don’t be fooled- she loves to play, too! Sky enjoys going to dog playgroup at the shelter. Her other favorite activities? Chasing rope toys, going for walks, and being your cuddle buddy.
Sky is already a pro at sit, shake, and down. She’s also food-motivated so teaching her more tricks would be easy.
Plus, she’s a “potty dog” at the shelter, which means she waits to go outside, so she’s likely housebroken.
Sky is available to adopt or foster, and her ID# is A1337792. Come meet her and fall in love!
