Many of you may have seen the post with the pleas for help from this wonderful lady in desperate search of her doggie Jayden. Jayden jumped out of her car window the other day when she stopped at Allsups. She searched for days, and would even park at Allsups for hours at a time praying her companion would show up. Today a Good Samaritan, Jordan, spotted Jayden and was able to reunite him with his owner. Unfortunately Jayden has multiple wounds and an injured back leg. He was rushed to Mosaic Animal Hospital in Santa Fe, because none of the local vets had openings. His bill is expected to be about $4,000 due to his leg may needing to be amputated. We are kindly asking for donations to help her cover the bill and get her very much loved companion medical treatment. If you wish to donate you can call Mosaic Animal Hospital directly and pay under “Jayden” bill. Or you can donate our Venmo and we will make payments to the vet. If you donate to our Venmo please comment it is for Jayden. Thank you for always supporting Animal Advocates.

A little over a week ago Monica and Ashley saw a post from a Good Samaritan, who was concerned about a momma dog and 3 puppies that had been dumped at the cemetery. Ashley and Monica headed out right away and asked ACO Ortega to also go out. After a couple hours out there, Ashley was able to catch one of the puppies, who ACO transported to the shelter. Monica, Lawrence and Laura set up a covered kennel to provide shelter. Monica and Lawrence fed the momma and 2 puppies daily trying to gain their trust. Today Monica, Lawrence, Ashley and ACO Ortega planned to attempt to rescue the doggies, and It was a successful rescue. They have been transported to the Animal Care Center (shelter) where they will be vetted. If you are interested in adopting any one of these beautiful dogs please call the shelter at 505-426-3289.
Please consider donating to Animal Advocates so we can continue our effort in helping animals in need. Venmo link is below and we also have an account to make deposits at Community First Bank. Thank you everyone for your continued support ❤️🐶🐱

On July 8th Monica received a plea for help for an elderly/disabled couple that had 20+ dogs to include a momma with 7 puppies and 2 pregnant females. We were told they had reached out for help from the county, and were told there was no help for them. This was too big of a situation for just Animal Advocates, therefore, Monica reached out to Jacque Aragon from AWC and Angel Romero (independent rescuer) for input and assistance. Monica went out daily to feed the dogs, and gain their trust in order to condition them to be rescued since many of these dogs were afraid of humans. She also found fosters/homes. Jacque was able to secure placements of a few dogs plus a momma and 7 puppies , and Amber Irons transported. AWC also neutered a dog from the pack and will help a couple more soon. Angel was also able to catch many of the dogs and transport to rescues to be adopted. Monica contacted CMM Lost Pet Recovery and Humane Trapping for help trapping the last 3 dogs. Monica lured the dogs into the trap with treats and they were secured. CMM, Ashley and Monica transported them into individual kennels and they are currently in foster care until they find their forever homes. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this rescue possible….it takes teamwork to help all the animals. This rescue took almost 3 months of everyday time and effort, feeding the dogs and gaining trust. Let’s not forget the food and treats that need to be purchased. Rescuing animals is much more than what people
realize. Because Animal Advocates operates solely on donations and our own money, we humbly ask you to consider making a donation. Any amount of money is greatly appreciated and helps us continue our efforts. Our Venmo link will be below and we also have an account at Community First Bank for deposits. We can also take cash or check 😊🐶🐱❤️

Desperately looking for a foster for this beauty.

As some of you know, we’ve been working on Leia’s case for around 2 years. Originally an elderly man with no loved ones, no next of kin, and no close relatives passed away. He left behind his two beloved dogs, a German Shepard named Murphy and a black female dog. Over time, squatters took over his home with his dogs still living on the property. Leia and her siblings were born from the black female dog just days after the elderly man had passed away. With nobody to care for any of the dogs, Leia and her siblings were raised with no human interaction and were essentially feral. Neighbors would often see the puppies fighting with each other and other animals for food, Murphy was aging so fast that his back legs stopped working and the house quickly began falling apart. After repeated calls and constant nagging, animal control went out and removed all but one dog, Leia. The elderly man’s trailer was illegally sold and ripped from the property leaving behind a ton of trash, debris, nails and furniture. Scared and alone, Leia took refuge under a shed on the property. As time would have it, she became pregnant her first time going into heat. Our group has worked tirelessly to come up with solutions for her. We’ve tried reaching out to the city multiple times asking for help for her. We were able to get her puppies to Colorado with the help of puppy line ladies but aside from that nobody has stepped up to take on this task. Ashley feeds Leia every single day. She’s worked with her enough to touch her and as feral as she is, she wouldn’t hurt anyone or anything. Neighbors watch out for her because she’s become a permanent resident on the west side. You can often find her near on the landfill looking lot waiting for Ashley’s car. We’re posting today to ask if anyone would be interested in fostering her. Leia desperately needs to be spayed as she is already in heat again. We’re confident she can shed her street dog persona and step into a life of love with a warm home to sleep in if someone would just give her a chance and open their home up to her. She’s gentle and patient despite her incredibly difficult beginning. She finds toys all over the west side and brings them to her safe place under the shed. Although she comes across as disattached, she’s a true survivor and has endured such a lonely and unfortunate start. As always, animal advocates will provide everything needed for her. We’re just looking for the right temp foster with the understanding that she’s a work in progress and the honesty that this may take some time before she’s adopted out. Donations to help with cases like Leia can be made below. Thank you all ❤️

This handsome guy would like to find his family and forever home. He is neutered and about 10 months old. He’s friendly but still a little timid with humans. He gets along with other dogs around him. He would make a great doggie if someone can give him a chance and patience to trust them ❤️🐶🐾

PUPDATE: BB found her forever home ❤️🥰

This is BB and she is a 1 year old long hair chihuahua. Unfortunately, her owner has fallen ill and can no longer care for her. She has her vaccines to include rabies shots, however, she is not spayed. She is a loving girl who gets along with other dogs and children, but she hasn’t been around cats. BB is also house trained to use pottie pads 🐶❤️

Animal Advocates tries to help animals and their humans in any way we can, and it’s usually to help with supplies, food, rehoming, and vet visits to heal dogs. However, when we come across a post like this we couldn’t turn away. Nova fell ill and had to be taken to the emergency vet and the bill to treat her was rather high. Nova’s prognosis did not end with hope for a road to recovery, but rather her humans were told it would be best to humanely euthanize her. With broken hearts they of course wanted to be there with her, and bring her home to bury, but would have to pay the bill in full before they could do that. nova’s owners paid half of the bill but were seeking help to pay the rest, and with each passing day Nova stayed there the bill increased. By no means are we trying to blame the vet as they have charges for their services. Animal Advocates knew we had to step in and help bring sweet Nova home to rest and paid the remaining balance. Rest peacefully Nova 😞
Nova’s family has allowed us to seek donations to replenish our funds since we work off solely off donations and our own money. This way we can keep helping other animals in need. Thank you to everyone who donates to our group and supports our efforts. Donations can be sent to our Venmo link below and we also have a bank account at Community First Bank 🐶🐱❤️

Sara Jo was called on this doggie that had a canister stuck on its head and needed help. Animal Advocates and community members began keeping an eye out for him but had not seen him. Yesterday Monica received a call that the dog was spotted, and needless to say Laura, Ashley, Monica, Reina, and a couple other community members immediately went to find and help him. Ashley and Laura crawled in the bushes and almost secured the dog, however he was scared, and went into the culvert. Officer Rodney Perea and ACO Leroy Ortega offered to step in and place a live trap at the site. Officer Ortega stayed near the trap for a few hours and was able to safely trap the dog, remove the canister, and transport him to the shelter. Thank you everyone who sprung into action to save this poor dog….it takes team work to make change 🐶🐱❤️
