Consider that even temperatures in the 70s can result in scorching hot asphalt in direct sunlight.

To ensure the pavement is safe for your dog to walk on, perform the 7 second rule: Press the back of your hand on the asphalt for seven seconds. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your dog.

To safely walk your dog in the heat of summer:
✅ Take early morning and evening walks when the direct sun isn't as strong
✅ Walk them in shaded areas
✅ Use a set of booties to protect their paws
