A Home 4 Spot Animal Rescue

A Home 4 Spot Animal Rescue A Home 4 Spot Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) who rescue animals, treat, rehabilitate and re-home. Typically, our medical runs about $5,000-$10,000 a month.

A Home 4 Spot is comprised of many volunteers throughout Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas and other outlining areas that take in abused, neglected, medical needs and at risk dogs in their homes to start the rehabilitation process to heal our dogs inside out. Our objective is simple in that we treat, socialize and re-home dogs to homes that we closely evaluate making sure that each dog continu

es to thrive in their new home. We currently operate at thrift store located at 4324 N Decatur and Craig where people can donate slightly used which we are able to sell and in return gives us the ability to help more dogs. These last few years have been extremely hard for charities like ourselves and we have really seen the affects. We hate to turn any dog away and would love to save them all, so any amount whether it be $1.00 to $100.00, helps us maintain our goal to help self sustain our costs and eventually grow our rescue to its biggest potential possible. More times than not, we will help a family who simply cannot afford medical treatment on a dog but without donations, we are not able to continue helping those in need. Our rescue provides training, medical care to our dogs, and education to the public. Our training just doesn't involve the dogs, but the humans associated with the dogs. If we can help an owner find a solution to keep their pet and it is in the best interest for the pet to stay with the owner, then we work closely with these individuals and formulate plans to achieve this. Sometimes it is just as simple as the food they eat and sometimes it involves dog trainers to work closely with the dogs to encourage socialization, acceptable behavior in public and the home. Each volunteer that we accept into A Home 4 Spot is given an application to fill out on our website- www.ahome4spot.com and is required to receive periodic home checks as well as each volunteer must agree to transport the animal to the vet care facility as needed and attend at least two adoption events a month. If for some reason this is not able to happen, we have other volunteers that can help with transport and handle the dog during the events. The goal is to provide a safe, warm home with lots of love to reverse the dog’s outlook on life. most weekends we hold events, mostly at Petsmart - 2140 N Rainbow and Lake Mead, but on occasion we are invited to different establishments that support our work and just want to give us extra exposure. None of our foster parents are paid, however we do provide food and the basic care items for our dogs so volunteers have the tools to successfully care for the placed dog in their home. Because we are a non-profit, we rely on fundraising and charity donations to help us with the biggest expense, our medical. We provide all the shots, microchip, and the spay or neuter plus any additional treatment needed. Our typical adoption fees range from $300 upward to $600.00. This really just depends on the dog's medical needs, the age of the dog, the training needed and of course the breed of the dog. When we reference breed of the dog, it is simply because we encourage people to understand that certain dogs are extremely high maintenance and require more than just routine care so an increase in the adoption cost gives us somewhat of a guideline that this family could afford the needs of the dog with less chance of a return or a "dump". Every family considering adopting a dog goes through a complete thorough process. It begins with a search on our site or other related sites such as Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet or maybe they have seen one of our dogs at an event or a blast on social media. They can inquire many ways. One would be via email, another by phone, by filling out an interest applications on our website and lastly they can also attend our events to meet and greet the dog they are drawn too. We have a very thorough application process that includes a rather lengthy questionnaire, a thorough home check and sometimes several visits and/or play dates. We are in absolutely no hurry to ever place any of our dogs, in fact we believe that finding the right fit for all parties concerned might take more than just a meet and greet and home check. Because of this, our return rate is extremely lower than per say establishments such as kill shelters. Our volunteers are trained and given the right tools to help them determine whether or not the home is the perfect match. Even though our efforts are valiant in this process, we still receive from time to time dogs back into the rescue and we are proud to say that we keep the commitment to the families we adopt out too as well as continue our relationship with them forever.

Dog of the Day: Meet Jake 🦴

Meet Jake! Jake is a year and half year old Shepherd and weighs around 65lbs. He loves food and will help himself to anything within his reach that is not under lock and key: a bag of potatoes, pizza, … etc. Jake was a rescue from a previous home where he was found abandoned in the street in July of 2023. Jake is currently not around any other pets, but he was around other dogs in the previous home. Jake is very sweet and loving, but full of energy. Jake requires constant attention from his humans or other pet interaction. Jake is house broken, and can use a doggie door. Jake is currently a “chewer" and needs to be kept busy and active. He is a super smart boy and does understand some simple commands like: sit and stay. If you're interested in meeting this handsome boy please fill out an application on our website.

Meet Prada. This special needs girl is a 3 and half year old female English bulldog. She has bowel issues and will need a patient home that can help her live her everyday life. We worked with the specialist to help get her ready for her forever home.

Prada has butterfly spine or Bulldog spine, a small defect in her lower spine that affects her ability to know when she needs to go potty. She has mild incontinence and currently wears a diaper to help manage. Prada is on a special diet to help her bowels work well. She does great with other dogs and loves to play like all puppies do. Food and toy’s motivative her. She loves to play in the water and loves the pool. She’s super cuddly and loves to snuggle under the covers with her foster mommy. She currently sleeps at night in her crate and takes naps when mom is away. She needs a home that is around most of the day because she needs her diaper changed like a toddler does. Prada is such a lover and super sweet with a sprinkling of bulldog sass. No small animals or young children please.

For additional info or to meet her, please text Diana at 702-239-7986. Please fill out an adoption interest form on our website as well. Thank you!

Meet Ally (Alee). We call her Al. Ally is a Jack Russell mix. Her paperwork says she’s 16, but we think she could be a few years younger. She was left at the shelter, probably when her human died or became ill. Ally spent most of her life dealing with severe food and skin allergies, which we have under control with Apoquel. She’s kinda a grumpy lady when it comes to other dogs- she tolerates mild mannered, small CALM ones. She is pretty bossy and barks at them a lot to pipe down- she IS the Fun Police. Ally does love her human though and will follow them and stay close by. She doesn’t like to be picked up, but is a great jumper. She loves to cuddle on the bed or on a lap. Al would do best in a home without small children or cats. She is hard of hearing and startles easily, and that can upset her. Al is housetrained with a dog door and walks well with a harness. She does get excited seeing other dogs on walks. Ally doesn’t mind a bath, but trimming nails or using a dryer of any kind freaks her out. Car rides are stressful for her, but if you can pet her on the ride, she feels much safer. She is not a shedder. Ally really needs a soft place to relax for the rest of her days. If you need a buddy to chill with, maybe she can be your girl! If you're interested in fostering or adopting this sweet senior girl please fill out an app.

Dog of the Day: Meet Joey

Meet Joey! Joey is a sweet man. He needs a patient and quiet home where he can be himself and just enjoy his days. He isn't big on playing or being cuddly, but he does love his people.
He’s not really into toys. But then again boarding changes some pups and they don’t feel free to be themselves. A foster home would make a huge difference for a pup like this. He really needs someone to show him what love is again.

He will let you pick him up without issues. He does fine in a kennel and can be a little whinny but he stops quickly. He is potty trained, neutered, microchipped, and utd on vaccines. A home with no other dogs, children, or cats is preferred. Someone who just wants a companion around and will let this guy get comfortable in his surroundings. If you're interested in fostering or adopting, please fill out an application.

Meet the crew of guineas we have for adoption! If you are adopting a single male to pair with another boar, please be prepared to have 2 separate cages. Before inquiring, please do some basic research to make sure you have room and time for a guinea. Make sure you understand dietary needs as well. Guineas are considered “exotic” pets, and not all vets will take them. Vetting can be required unexpectedly and can be expensive. Guineas should not be the sole responsibility of a child. We are more than happy to help if you have questions before and after adoption! Before adopting, you will need to provide pictures of your set up and answer some questions. There is an adoption fee as well. We only adopt to adults. Please don’t have your child text us. If you are interested in meeting and adopting a Guinea or two, want to see more pics, or have a question, please text us at (702)366-6391.

Meet Sloan! He is an 11 month old shepherd mix and is a sweet boy full of life and energy. This guy was found abandoned and on survival mode in the desert along with another dog (Ditch). He loves playing with other dogs and gets along with them well – whether it is a 105-pound Great Dane or a 4-pound Yorkie. He spends hours at a time running and playing enjoying life. Sloan is very active and knows how to use the doggie door to get in and out. He already knows sit and is working on shake. He is extremely loving but is also very independent – courageous and loyal. Sloan would do great in a house with other dogs, or with an active owner who can take him on walks or to the park. A yard is a must for this breed. Please fill out an adoption application on our website and we will get back to you.

Meet Dexter!

This adorable 13 week puppy is half Frenchie and half mystery pup! We do know he is 100% good boy though!
Dexter is extremely timid when meeting new people and dogs and needs a little time to warm up but once he realizes he’s safe, he is all puppy! He gets along with big and small dogs and even cats once he is feeling comfortable in his environment. He is working on potty training and being comfortable on a leash and will need a calm patient household to help him learn. We do require adopters to have another social dog in the home as he seems to come out of his shell with other animals.

If you are interested in meeting Dexter, please fill out an adoption interest form on our website and the foster will get back to you shortly. Adoption fees and home checks apply.

11/15/2024

SHADOW is ready for the holidays and all this cuddly 2 year old sweetheart wants for Christmas is a family of her own finally!

Shadow does not mind living with cats and is very mellow and easygoing for her age. She does not need a large yard or tons of exercise, she prefers lounging on the couch with you chewing on bones and going on leisurely walks around the neighborhood.

Shadow is well mannered and non destructive inside the house and has no separation anxiety when left alone. She may get the zoomies once in a while and even play with toys if you get her going but her rare bursts of energy are mostly contained to getting excited and even jumping up once when her favorite human comes home from work and when it's time to eat. Shadow loooves food, she ll do tricks for just kibble and anything for treats.

Shadow loves dog friendly kids! She can be a little scared of new adult people and need a minute to warm up sometimes but nice kids, she’ll love right away.

Shadow knows Sit and Down and Wait and Stay and a few other tricks like Spin and Shake and Touch. Shadow’s favorite activity besides napping and eating is chewing on bones and kongs and work on food puzzles, she is Extremely food motivated.

Shadow is a little shy at first when meeting new people, she may even bark at strangers because she’s worried about them, but it just takes a few minutes and some treats to become her new best friend. She also gets scared at busy or new places, like at the groomer’s or the vet’s but will allow all handling and relax with some treats. Food and treats, always the way to this girl’s heart.

Shadow would do well being the only dog in the home but has lived with other dogs in foster care and done very well also, she prefers males usually but it depends. Meet and greets are required if she were to live with another dog. Shadow has enjoyed playing and running around with some of her foster siblings but not gotten along with others. As long as the other dogs are well balanced and easy going also and don’t try to take her food or chews away. Feeding separately is absolutely necessary as well as being separated for chew/treat times.

Currently Shadow is living with a cat in her foster home with no issues, they hang out together peacefully. She also goes to the dog park when it’s not super crowded and has made many doggie friends she plays with nicely.

Shadow is a 2 year old Akita mix, about 70 pounds, spayed, chipped and UTD on all shots. Please contact foster for any other questions at (714) 224-9432 and fill out an application on our website.

November is adopt a senior pet month!

🩵Meet Raymond🩵

Raymond is a young 10 year old chihuahua and weighs 12lbs. He is a super sweet boy who doesn't know he is a chihuahua because he hasn't barked at his foster moms house yet!. He is great on a leash and loves his walks and play time outside. Once it cools down he can enjoy more time like this. Raymond is potty trained and works from home with his foster mom. He goes potty every 3-4 hrs and has had no accidents in the house. She is working on crate training with him currently. He requests someone who is not gone for long hours. He gets along with dogs and seems mellow when around other dogs at this time. He is completely vetted, microchipped, and ready for you to meet him. Please fill out an application and we will get back to you shortly for a meet and greet.

Dog of the Day: Meet Teddy 🎈

Who doesn’t love a doodle?? Teddy is a neutered poodle mix (probably with terrier) that is full of energy and silliness. At around 2 years old and 15 pounds, he loves a basket of stuffed squeaky toys, walks in the park, and rides in the car. Teddy still acts like a puppy and can be mouthy, so we do not recommend young children, however he loves ALL people and gets along with other dogs (unless they are trying to steal his food). Teddy prefers playing with dogs his size and energy level. He can be a bit overwhelming for senior dogs though. Teddy is mostly house trained with a dog door. When Teddy first came in to rescue, he had a severe skin infection from untreated allergies. He will need to remain on Apoquel to prevent further issues, as well as be given medicated baths and ear cleanings once or twice a week. Our vet also recommends a hypoallergenic diet. As happy and easy going as Teddy is, he does have some separation anxiety and tends to be very loud; therefore, apartments will not work. He has a prey drive, so no cats, birds, or other critters should be in the home. If you would like to meet Teddy or get more information, please fill out an interest form on our website and his foster will reach out to you.

Meet Moose: He's a Male 8 week old mix. His mama is mix of Dane & Lab but we ar unsure what dad was. Like a typical puppy, he likes to play hard and nap hard. Moose prefers to watch and learn from his sister before braving a new adventure (aka the other side of the yard). He is already getting the hang of being on a schedule, using potty pads and going in the backyard to go potty. He sleeps through the night and has not been destructive, (although we have someone with him at all times). Moose is an amazing pup and will be a wonderful addition to any home.

If youre interested in meeting him please fill out an application on our website.
