A Home 4 Spot Animal Rescue

A Home 4 Spot Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) who rescue animals, treat, rehabilitate and re-home. Typically, our medical runs about $5,000-$10,000 a month.

A Home 4 Spot is comprised of many volunteers throughout Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas and other outlining areas that take in abused, neglected, medical needs and at risk dogs in their homes to start the rehabilitation process to heal our dogs inside out. Our objective is simple in that we treat, socialize and re-home dogs to homes that we closely evaluate making sure that each dog continu

es to thrive in their new home. We currently operate at thrift store located at 4324 N Decatur and Craig where people can donate slightly used which we are able to sell and in return gives us the ability to help more dogs. These last few years have been extremely hard for charities like ourselves and we have really seen the affects. We hate to turn any dog away and would love to save them all, so any amount whether it be $1.00 to $100.00, helps us maintain our goal to help self sustain our costs and eventually grow our rescue to its biggest potential possible. More times than not, we will help a family who simply cannot afford medical treatment on a dog but without donations, we are not able to continue helping those in need. Our rescue provides training, medical care to our dogs, and education to the public. Our training just doesn't involve the dogs, but the humans associated with the dogs. If we can help an owner find a solution to keep their pet and it is in the best interest for the pet to stay with the owner, then we work closely with these individuals and formulate plans to achieve this. Sometimes it is just as simple as the food they eat and sometimes it involves dog trainers to work closely with the dogs to encourage socialization, acceptable behavior in public and the home. Each volunteer that we accept into A Home 4 Spot is given an application to fill out on our website- www.ahome4spot.com and is required to receive periodic home checks as well as each volunteer must agree to transport the animal to the vet care facility as needed and attend at least two adoption events a month. If for some reason this is not able to happen, we have other volunteers that can help with transport and handle the dog during the events. The goal is to provide a safe, warm home with lots of love to reverse the dog’s outlook on life. most weekends we hold events, mostly at Petsmart - 2140 N Rainbow and Lake Mead, but on occasion we are invited to different establishments that support our work and just want to give us extra exposure. None of our foster parents are paid, however we do provide food and the basic care items for our dogs so volunteers have the tools to successfully care for the placed dog in their home. Because we are a non-profit, we rely on fundraising and charity donations to help us with the biggest expense, our medical. We provide all the shots, microchip, and the spay or neuter plus any additional treatment needed. Our typical adoption fees range from $300 upward to $600.00. This really just depends on the dog's medical needs, the age of the dog, the training needed and of course the breed of the dog. When we reference breed of the dog, it is simply because we encourage people to understand that certain dogs are extremely high maintenance and require more than just routine care so an increase in the adoption cost gives us somewhat of a guideline that this family could afford the needs of the dog with less chance of a return or a "dump". Every family considering adopting a dog goes through a complete thorough process. It begins with a search on our site or other related sites such as Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet or maybe they have seen one of our dogs at an event or a blast on social media. They can inquire many ways. One would be via email, another by phone, by filling out an interest applications on our website and lastly they can also attend our events to meet and greet the dog they are drawn too. We have a very thorough application process that includes a rather lengthy questionnaire, a thorough home check and sometimes several visits and/or play dates. We are in absolutely no hurry to ever place any of our dogs, in fact we believe that finding the right fit for all parties concerned might take more than just a meet and greet and home check. Because of this, our return rate is extremely lower than per say establishments such as kill shelters. Our volunteers are trained and given the right tools to help them determine whether or not the home is the perfect match. Even though our efforts are valiant in this process, we still receive from time to time dogs back into the rescue and we are proud to say that we keep the commitment to the families we adopt out too as well as continue our relationship with them forever.

Meet Jake! He is just shy of 2 years old and. Shepherd mix. This great dog needs someone who understands the breed. Jake is with the POP program at the Ladies State Prison and is doing amazing! Jake is dog friendly, potty trained, and treadmill trained. He does group walks daily with 24 other dogs and needs an active home to help with his energy needs. Hi, my friends call me "Bash" because I'm a bit bashful. I'm about 10yrs old, a Chihuahua mix weighing about 10 pounds. I'm anxious in some situations but I still show and receive affection and I can put my nervousness aside for some tasty treats! I wasn't doing well at the animal shelter, but luckily now I'm coming alive in a loving home. I took a day to warm up here, but since then I've enjoyed cuddling up next to my foster Dad for nap time. Sudden movements can startle me, but if you reach out slowly I'll gladly accept your best head rubs and belly scratches and will let you pick me up. Even though I get startled and skittish, I still haven't shown any aggression or even barked at anyone since I've been here. I'm new to walking on leashes, but I've improved quickly and will let you take me out to p*e when I give you the sign that I have to go out. I'm also learning how to sit on command. I've been eating in my crate and I'm working on spending more time alone in it, some days are better than others but I'm getting better. I've gotten a bit excited around dogs, so might be best if I'm the only doggo in the house for now. Recently neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped and ready for my forever home!

Meet Rocky, a sweet 5-year-old Poodle mix who’s a bit shy at first but warms up once he gets to know you. Rocky loves cuddling and will thrive with a patient person who understands his needs. He is both crate and potty trained, making him a well-behaved companion. Rocky is friendly with other dogs and people, but he’d do best in a home without young children.

Dog of the Day; Meet Jessie🩷

Jessie is currently in the PUPS ON PAROLE program where she is learning basic commands and socializing with people. Jessie is a 2 year old mix and is good with dogs and would prefer a home with a doggie friend to help build her confidence. We don't know her past but this sweet girl tends to freeze up and become scared when you touch her, so we are teaching her its okay to be loved. She is a sweet girl who needs a calm and quiet home. She is potty trained and crate trained. Jessie loves to go on long walks and is treat motivated. When she feels safe with you she will climb up on your lap and ask for pets. With some patience and time her personality will start to shine especially when she’s around other dogs. She’s house trained but may take a minute to learn your schedule due to her being nervous. Meet Dexter!

This adorable 3.5 month old puppy is half Frenchie and half mystery pup! We do know he is 100% good boy though!
Dexter is extremely timid when meeting new people and dogs and needs a little time to warm up but once he realizes he’s safe, he is all puppy! He gets along with big and small dogs and even cats once he is feeling comfortable in his environment. He is working on potty training and being comfortable on a leash and will need a calm patient household to help him learn. We do require adopters to have another social dog in the home as he seems to come out of his shell with other animals.

Bailey is a sweet 8 month old female terrier mix that has had a lot of changes in her short life. She is very timid and unsure about when in an unfamiliar environment and needs someone to give her stability and love. Bailey should go to a home with another friendly dog to help her gain some confidence. She is working on potty training and once she feels comfortable, she will come sit in your lap on her own terms. We are looking for a calm and quiet household for her to decompress in, teenagers and older kids would possibly be ok. A home with a very secure yard is a requirement because if she is scared, she will run or try and find a way to get out.

Start the year off with your new bestie! Teddy is a 1 year old male beagle mix that is looking for a real forever home. This sweet boy was being allowed to wander the streets alone because his previous family didn’t want him anymore. He was thin, dirty and scared. Now that he’s with us, Teddy is learning he’s safe. Teddy is working on his potty training. He was just neutered, so we are sure that will help his potty habits. He is great with humans of all sizes and enjoys being held and cuddled. Teddy has lots of energy! His favorite things besides food are stuffed toys and shoes (he doesn’t chew them, he just likes to steal them). Teddy is protective over food and treats with other dogs. Other than that, he does well with dogs of all sizes as long as he doesn’t feel threatened by them. As you might expect, Teddy has some separation anxiety from being put out to fend for himself. He will need someone patient to teach him he won’t be abandoned ever again. Apartments may not work for him

Dude is a loving 7 month old Texas Heeler (Australian shepherd and ACD) He is very small for his breed at just 19lbs. He is very friendly and loves to be pet. He is great with kids and other dogs. He has no interest in cats and doesn’t seem to pay any attention to them. He is very bonded with his sister Stormy who is also available for adoption and they’d love to stay together. Dude is house broken and can use a doggy door. He would do well in a home with other dogs, he does well with his foster siblings that are much larger. He is very small for his breed but uuwould still benefit from having a yard to run around in. He is still learning to walk on a leash and has no interest in dog toys. He is crate trained and loves treats !

Murphy’s mama is a Great Dane and Lab mix so we estimate him to be a large doggy when fully grown. He is currently 3.5 months old and just under 20 lbs. Murphy is a total sweetheart that loves to play with his brother and toys. He has lots of energy but can snuggle and chill when he’s ready to relax. He has mastered the doggie door and potties outside most of the time. He’s ready for his forever home where he can run and spend time outdoors. Meet the handsome Leo! Leo is a beagle mix breed, approx 5 -6 years old. Prob weighs about 30 lbs. He appears to be very smart, will sit on command, is potty trained, sits by the door and he is let out to do is business. Leo loves running and I have seen the zoomies. He does jump when he is excited, and will bark when he sees someone in the yard. Needs a home to let him run off his energy and prob no small children. Foster needed TODAY for Miracle! This beautiful Lab / Dane mama of 12 was severely neglected and emaciated when we pulled her from certain death at a high kill shelter in California. Unfortunately she developed an infection and is needing to be on antibiotics and her weight monitored until she is healthy enough to be spayed. We are looking for a committed foster to help her gain back her health and confidence, someone who is retired or works from home would be ideal. Miracle has most likely been an outside dog her entire life and is adjusting to living indoors. She just loves people and children and was a fantastic gentle mama to her babies and has displayed no reactivity to other dogs. We will do a proper dog introduction to anyone who has a current dog and is willing to foster to ensure it’s a good fit. He only weighs 1.3 lbs and his poor body has been thru so much in his short life first being diagnosed with 3 life threatening parasites then eye ulcers and now needing blood transfusions, we will not give up on him but we need your help and a miracle to save his life!
