Baby boy is doing amazing after his neuter surgeryāļøš heās a bit shy at first, but coming out of his shell. Heās very calm and quiet, just the opposite of his roommate Luna š¤£

His rectum area looks wonderful the last 24 hours. No swelling and no protrusionš„³ if this continues the next few days, that means no surgery is needed! If no surgery is needed, that means heād actually be available for adoption by this weekend š

New foster- meet Luna š
She was in the same foster home as Hagrid, but not related. She had a mom and siblings, who have all been adopted.

She also had a prolapsed rectum a few weeks ago and had a āpursestring surgeryā to correct it. This is where they place the rectum inside the body and secure with stitches. her little rear end is still reddish and swollen š„ŗ
.
Iāve switched the wet food to Royal Canin kitten mousse, which is very soft and easily digestible. Adding MiraLAX, which helps bring moisture to their colon. Also applying Animax ointment to reduce the anus swellingš³
.
Sheās a wild child, high energy and literally climbing up the walls š¤£ completely different personality than Hagrid. If she shows improvement in a few days, I can then start to take adoption applications for her.

New foster! Meet Hagrid š§āāļø

A month ago, he was found outside stuck to a glue trap š„ŗ They rushed to the rescue group, which immediately took him to the emergency vet šØāāļøHe was in the ICU for a few days recovering. He was dehydrated, lethargic, and near death ā¤ļøāš©¹

He made a full recovery in his foster home. He recently developed a prolapsed rectum. This is where the rectum protrudes out of the body. It can happen for many reasons.

Itās usually resolved by being placed back inside and suturing the area to secure. Commonly called āa purse stringā surgery. Heās scheduled for this surgery early next week.
.
The vet ran tests and determined he also had coccidia. Itās an internal parasite thatās easily treated. Heās on medication for a few more days. Boy, he just canāt get a breakā¦.

At 4.5 months old, Heās neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He does have a playmate from his previous foster home named Luna, a white Siamese female that will be spending a few more days with him in my foster home. Iāll make a separate post regarding her.

This teddy bear is so sweet and loving. Please donāt worry, Heāll get adopted very quickly!! @homewardboundcats is amazing at screening adopters, and finding the right homes! They just hit 150 adoptions last month alone, which is extraordinary and a wonderful achievement!

Black cats get adopted on a regular basis šāā¬ again, please donāt worry. Heāll be spoiled by many staff, volunteers and visitors at the adoption center until he finds the right home.
