Had an amazing time at OSU-CVM over the last two weeks, while continuing to build my knowledge and experience in Joint Replacements.

I want to extend a huge congratulations to Dr. Dyce and Kimberly for completing their 2,500th THR (Total Hip Replacement)!

Thank you to all — Dr. Dyce, Kimberly, the surgery residents, and the entire OSU staff for providing me with such a great experience.

¡Feliz Viernes!

¡Qué cierre de semana más especial! Ahora sí lo podemos gritar a los cuatro vientos y estoy super emocionado.

Logré una de mis metas más importantes — poder venir a mi 🇵🇷 y devolver un pedacito de mi y mi profesión a quién tanto me ha dado. Qué satisfacción se siente ser parte de la historia de tu isla.

Hace un mes hicimos el primer reemplazo de cadera en Puerto Rico en un perro llamado Caesar. En el vídeo abajo puedes ver la historia de este perro pionero.

Gracias a todos los que de una forma u otra fueron parte de este proceso exitoso.

Ever wondered what a Right Tibial Tuberosity Avulsion Fracture looks like? 👀 🆙

🐶 5 month old Intact Male Pitbull mix

This is a very common injury in puppies because the growth plate is a weaker area within the bone. Surgery is recommended over external coaptation to repair the fracture, when the tuberosity fragment is over the Tibia Plateau. For this puppy, the fracture was reduced and held in place with two pins.

Approximate healing time is 4-6 weeks. If this buddy behaves, he should be back to normal activity with no limitations after this time.

Interesting Case Friday 👨‍⚕️

Here you can see a Monteggia Fracture - Type I in a 50 pound Australian Shepherd that got in a fight with another dog.

We repaired it with a Biomedtrix I-Loc 4mm interlocking nail.
