Welcome to our newest extern, Kennedy!

Kennedy, originally from Mobile, Alabama, developed her love for animals at a young age, influenced by her experience growing up with pets and the inspiration from her mother, who is a nurse. Her first pets, a Jack Russell named Kobe and a Maltese named Cam, further solidified her passion for animals and medicine, leading her to decide early on that she wanted to become a veterinarian.

Kennedy worked as a veterinary assistant at a clinic during her studies at Auburn University in Montgomery, Alabama. She also volunteered at various local shelters.

She is currently attending Purdue University, with an expected graduation date in 2026. This externship marks her first, and she is eager to gain as much hands-on experience as possible. She looks forward to shadowing multiple doctors, observing their interactions with clients, and witnessing surgeries.

In her spare time, Kennedy enjoys listening to gospel music, exercising, and spending time with her pets: Kobe and Kam, an English bulldog named Cash, another English bulldog named Clover, a cat named Reece, and her nephew, a pot-bellied pig named Kevin.

Kennedy's motivation stems from her family. As a first-generation college student and the first in her family to earn a bachelor's degree, she is also on track to become the first doctor in her family. She is also excited about contributing to the diversity within the veterinary field.

Welcome to our newest extern, Ariel!

Originally from Ohio, Ariel grew up in a household brimming with a variety of pets, including dogs, geckos, turtles, scorpions, finches, parrots, cats, and fish. Her family's collective love for animals, shared by her parents and older brother, ignited Ariel's own passion for animal care.

Initially, Ariel envisioned a future in music, as she played the saxophone and had a deep appreciation for the art. However, she realized that her love for music was more of a cherished hobby than a career path. This epiphany came during her senior year of high school, leading her to pursue veterinary medicine.

Ariel began her journey into veterinary medicine by shadowing a local vet clinic during high school. She continued to build her experience in undergrad at West Virginia University, where she volunteered at a 24-hour emergency and general practice wellness center. This center was attached to an avian rehabilitation facility, giving her invaluable experience working with raptors and songbirds.

This externship marks Ariel's first visit to Las Vegas, and she is eager to experience the city. She plans to stay at the Bellagio, visit its conservatory, explore the strip, and take trips to the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park.

During the externship, Ariel aims to enhance her skills in ultrasound and radiology.

In her free time, she enjoys hiking, rock climbing, spending time with friends, relaxing by the pool, and spending time with her cats, Denver and Tokyo, and her Doberman, Sylvia.

Ariel's long-term goals include improving client-doctor communication and focusing on wildlife conservation. She dreams of opening her own wildlife rehabilitation center and has a personal goal of being able to retire her mother.

Welcome to our newest extern, Juliann!

Originally from Orange County, California, Juliann's love for animals began at a young age, nurtured by her experiences growing up with pets. One of her earliest memories involves finding an abandoned baby bird in her backyard, which she nursed back to health and released when it was ready to thrive on its own. This experience not only solidified her passion for animal care but also set her on a path toward veterinary medicine.

Her journey began in high school, where she participated in a career development program that included shadowing veterinarians. During her senior year, she interned at a local hospital and also volunteered at the animal shelter.

Juliann pursued an undergraduate degree in Animal Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she graduated in 2020. Her education included numerous animal-based classes that provided hands-on experience with farm animals, dogs, and cats. During her junior year, she participated in a community trip to Peru, where she observed and assisted with pet care in underserved communities. Her undergraduate years were also marked by extensive research and internships at the Humane Society. Juliann is currently attending the University of Glasgow Veterinary School in Glasgow Scotland, with an expected graduation date in 2026.

Although she has visited Las Vegas before, she is excited to explore its natural surroundings, including its hiking trails.

During her externship, Juliann looks forward to working in a high-volume hospital, which will be the largest she has experienced so far. She is eager to improve her surgical and clinical skills, particularly in placing IV and urinary catheters, and to see how cases in Las Vegas differ from those in other places.

In her spare time, Juliann enjoys staying home and spending time with her family and friends, watching movies, hiking, and practicing Pilates or yoga with her sister. She is also an avid reader and traveler. She cherishes moments with her dog Lily and her three turtles, Verne, Franklin, and Crush.

Her self-motivation and clear vision for her future in veterinary medicine have driven her to this point. She hopes to inspire others by demonstrating that achieving your dreams is possible with hard work, resilience, and perseverance, despite the challenges.

Welcome to our newest extern, Allison!

Allison grew up in California, where her love for animals was sparked by the variety of pets in her household including a dog, a hamster, and many fish. She often visited the zoo and the park to feed the geese with her Dad. This all fueled her love for animals which eventually turned into a career.

She volunteered at a low-cost clinic that treated exotic animals and wildlife. She also worked with Vets for Pets of Homeless Owners, helping at-risk owners with their pets. During the summers, she gained invaluable experience working with a mobile vet, aiding elderly and sick pet owners who couldn't transport their animals.

A pivotal moment in her journey was witnessing the emotional and challenging aspects of veterinary care when she had to inform a pet owner about the unexpected death of their dog. This experience was eye-opening for Allison. It emphasized that in vet med, you need to focus on both pet care and client care, and it's important to find a balance between the two.

Allisonā€™s educational journey took her to Moberly Area Community College in Missouri, but she later moved back to California to spend time with her dad, eventually following him to Texas. She completed her undergraduate degree in biology and biochemistry at West Texas A&M University, graduating in 2020. She is currently attending The University of Tennessee Knoxvilleā€™s College of Veterinary Medicine, with an expected graduation of 2025.

This is Allisonā€™s first time in Las Vegas as an adult and she is looking forward to going hiking and shopping.

During the externship, Allison is eager to understand the local clientele, enhance her surgical and imaging skills.

In her free time, Allison enjoys spending time with her cat Oscar, playing video games, painting, and organizing.

Allison aims to improve client-doctor communication and is motivated by the desire to prove to herself that she can excel in the veterinary field.

Welcome to our newest extern, Amanda!

Amanda, originally from California, has called Colorado home since 2004. Surrounded by animals from a young ageā€”cats, dogs, and even farm animals from her grandmother's farmā€”Amanda's early interactions with these animals ignited a lifelong passion for animal care that has blossomed into a career.

Amanda's pivotal moment came in 2012 while she was in Korea. She adopted a dog and faced numerous challenges to bring it back to the United States, including obtaining a health certificate and navigating through extensive paperwork without speaking Korean. The exceptional care and attention the Korean vet provided to her dog despite the language barrier between her and the doctor, left a lasting impression on Amanda.

Upon returning to the United States, Amanda began working at a dog daycare as a dog handler. Her dedication and focus on animal care led to her promotion to dog handler supervisor. She then embarked on her undergraduate studies at Metropolitan State University of Denver while volunteering at a spay and neuter clinic. In 2015, she was offered a job at the clinic as an assistant and eventually became the internship coordinator, responsible for hospital tours, training, and assessments.

Amanda graduated from Metropolitan State University in 2020 and is currently pursuing her veterinary degree at Colorado State Universityā€™s School of Veterinary Medicine, with an expected graduation in 2026.

Amanda has visited Las Vegas before but is looking forward to exploring attractions like Meow Wolf at Area 15 and the Sphere.

In her spare time, Amanda enjoys walking around the lake with her husband and daughter, visiting the library, spending time with her ten year old cat named Sparkle and an eight year old schnauzer named Trevor, and watching movies and TV shows, with "Sh**un" being her current favorite.

Amanda faced significant pushback about pursuing a career in veterinary medicine while being a mother, but her daughter has been her biggest motivator. Amanda perseveres through challenges with the goal of showing her daughter that it's important to follow one's heart, regardless of others' opinions

Welcome to our newest extern, Connor!

Connor, primarily raised in Paris, Tennessee, was deeply influenced by his father, a practicing veterinarian. Connorā€™s inherent passion for animals and community service led him to consider a career in veterinary medicine.

A heartbreaking incident involving his dog Bo, who tragically passed away, made him realize the importance of animals in people's lives. This led him to commit his career to helping others with their pets and especially those who may be suffering the loss of a pet.

Connor's exposure to the veterinary field has allowed him to gain experience with a variety of animals - from small pets to exotics and farm animals. He has also developed an understanding of the business side of veterinary medicine because of his father.

Connor attended Bethel University for three years before transferring to the University of Memphis, where he graduated in 2019. He spent time in Nashville, where he enrolled in a program and worked at a pre-selected veterinary hospital that catered to a large number of exotic animals. He also volunteered with Chain Free Knoxville, a program dedicated to building enclosures for chained animals.

This is his first visit to Las Vegas, and Connor is eager to explore the city, including watching a WNBA game, exploring the strip, and visiting Red Rock Canyon and Zion National Park. He's particularly excited about the externship, looking forward to observing orthopedic procedures, ultrasound and CT imaging, and learning from the multi-doctor practice.

In his free time, Connor enjoys basketball, hiking, tennis, video games, fishing, and camping. He currently does not have any pets but aspires to have a boxer and possibly a snake in the future. His greatest motivation is the prospect of loving his work every day, serving the community, and the potential opportunity of building a practice with his father.

Welcome to our newest extern, Brandon!

Brandon, a native of Seymour, Tennessee grew up in a home that was always brimming with life, housing four dogs, two cats, and seven horses.

His passion for veterinary medicine was not solely due to his love for animals, but also his deep fascination with the science and medicine.

His love for medicine made him unsure if his career path should be in human or veterinary medicine. His path became clear when he toured the University of Tennessee's College of Veterinary Medicine, where he was captivated by the wide range of procedures, which included anesthetizing lions and birds.

Further experiences shadowing in a clinic near his hometown sealed his decision. Witnessing a C-section on a French Bulldog and an amputation on a German Shepherd blew him away and strengthened his passion for veterinary medicine.

Brandon graduated from Georgetown College in 2022 and is currently attending the University of Tennessee Knoxvilleā€™s College of Veterinary Medicine, with an expected graduation date of May 2026.

During this externship, he is eager to work with doctors and explore diverse aspects of medical practice. He is excited to discuss cases with the doctors and expand his knowledge. This is Brandonā€™s first time in Las Vegas and he is excited to explore the strip, Fremont street, and the great outdoors at Zion National Park, Red Rock Canyon, and the Valley of Fire State Park.

Outside of his academic pursuits, Brandon is an outdoors enthusiast who enjoys hiking, camping, and fishing. He also played college football and started a business in athletic training. Currently, he shares his love with his chocolate lab, Dixie, and two horses, Charlie and Trigger.

A naturally curious person, Brandon is always eager to ask questions, learn new things, and share his knowledge with others. His parents' continuous support and his belief in making the most of life's opportunities are his greatest motivators.

Welcome to our newest extern, Linda!

Linda, originally from China, cultivated her love for animals while exploring the variety of animals at her grandfather's countryside home. After relocating to New York for high school, she volunteered at numerous ASPCAs, taking care of cats and walking dogs. Finding New York to be too cold, Linda migrated to California for her undergraduate studies where she graduated from UC Davis in 2022 with a degree in Animal Science.

During her time at UC Davis, she gained significant experience with animals, working with horses, beef cattle, and lab animals, and even assisting with surgeries. Her stint at an animal clinic solidified her desire to become a veterinarian, finding the interaction with clients rewarding.

Currently, Linda is pursuing her veterinary studies at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, with an expected graduation date in 2026.

During this externship, she is eager to learn from the team and observe the client interactions. She is particularly interested in understanding the hospital's approach to general practice, ER, and urgent care.

In her spare time, Linda enjoys watching movies, hiking, exploring new restaurants with her friends and husband, and spending quality time with her cat, Davis.

Driven by her passion to provide care for animals in need, Linda also aspires to contribute to diversifying the field of veterinary medicine. She firmly believes that increased diversity can significantly enhance client-doctor communication and overall patient care.
