Lvvsc will be closed Christmas Eve starting at noon and on Christmas Day. For New Year’s we will be closed New Year’s Eve starting at noon and on New Year’s Day.

If emergency our VECC will be open 24 hours.

Here’s a little fun fact from our ophthalmology department about a common eye disease. Glaucoma has the potential to be a blinding, and irreversibly painful disease of the eye ion dogs, hallmarked by a high intra-ocular pressure. Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness and eye removals in dogs worldwide.

Glaucoma is a disease with undesirable outcomes from medical therapy alone, and early surgical interventions are linked with outcomes preserving vision for years longer than medical therapy alone. At LVVSC, we offer the latest in glaucoma therapy and there are multiple surgical options available.

Photo 1 demonstrates a glaucomatous eye, where the eye is swollen, irreversibly blind from damage to the optic nerve, and painful. Photo 2 demonstrates an Ahmed valve inside the eye, which selectively allows for fluid inside the eye to be released when the intra-ocular pressure rises too high.
