It is with tremendous sadness that the Las Vegas Pet Sitter and Veterinary Technician community have lost a great member of our tribe. Susan Villella was well known as an intelligent, kind-hearted soul. Her death from a traffic accident on Labor Day morning has left a hole in all our hearts, of people and the hundreds of animals she cared for. She will be greatly missed, never forgotten.

Right now, about 35,000 people die from infection from antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the US annually.

Raw dog food can contain bacteria resistant to many strains of antibiotics, and those resistant genes may be able to transfer to humans.

🦆 If you visit a public pond that allows you to feed the ducks and geese, it is not ideal to feed bread. The lack of nutrients can cause “angel wing” in ducks and geese. Instead, offer the items listed below or you can buy a bag of Waterfowl Food at Tractor Supply.

FYI, more than chocolate, even anti-freeze, the SAGO PALM could be the most dangerous toxin to dogs (and cats). All parts - seeds, bark, leaves. If you have these in your home - oust them. In your yard, remove them.
This is a life threatening toxin that causes seizures, liver damage, and a 50% mortality rate. If you catch your dog eating them, induce vomiting ASAP and get your pet to the DVM immediately. 🤢

Hope you pet people are safe during this health crisis! Don’t forget that puppies still need their shots. More people at dog parks, shelters discharging early, financial troubles, difficulty getting appointments are contributing to a deadly situation. While you’re there, get your pets their Coronavirus vaccines, too (cats, FIP, dogs Corona).

Be aware of algae poisoning for your pets. Blue Green algae is actually a bacteria. Clean those water bowls, people!

Although commonly referred to as blue-green “algae,” these organisms are not plants. Rather, they are bacteria—cyanobacteria, to be precise. And they are deadly to dogs, cats, and other animals.
