We designed Pet Health™ around one simple concept: you and your pet deserve to be treated like you are our only client. Our pet parents come to us because they are looking for more than traditional veterinary care — they want top-of-the line, individualized pet care. At Pet Health, we’re not an ordinary veterinary clinic — we’ve reinvented the veterinary experience for our pet parents and their pets by providing the most personalized and scientifically advanced integrative veterinary care in Las Vegas. We don’t strive to meet expectations — we strive to exceed them. We accomplish this by utilizing our five-star approach to pet care.
Dr. Mark Beerenstrauch, DVM (Dr. B) grew up in the small town of DeWitt, Nebraska. He graduated with a business management degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and then completed veterinary school at Kansas State University in 2004.
Dr. B has been practicing veterinary medicine in Las Vegas since he graduated, including working at and managing several veterinary practices. During that time he also hosted a radio show called “Pet Talk with Dr. B.”
After being frustrated with high-volume corporate medicine, Dr. B started Pet Health in 2014. He wanted Pet Health’s focus to be on the pet and pet parent—great customer service, more time for exams, and better communication. Some of Dr. B’s favorite authors are Jim Collins and Seth Godin, and you will notice their influence when you come into Pet Health.
Dr. B also has a passion for an integrative approach to veterinary medicine. He believes in presenting pet parents with multiple options, including those that are non-Western, as long as the treatments are based on scientific principles and reasoning.
He and his wife have five pets. Agnes and Imogene are wirehaired Dachshunds, and Babas is a one-eyed Pekingese. JB, a three-legged cat, lives at Dr. B’s house, and Mama Kitty has found a home at Pet Health.
Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Dr. Renee Lewis lived in Baton Rouge while attending LSU for undergraduate studies in animal science and then veterinary school.
After graduating in 2010, Dr. Lewis moved to Las Vegas to begin practicing small animal medicine at a large veterinary practice.
She joined the Pet Health staff in the fall of 2016. Dr. Lewis firmly believes in Pet Health’s core values and that this profession is about helping people through helping their pets. Her professional interests include internal medicine, dentistry, and small animal surgery.
Outside of the office, she enjoys hiking and visiting national parks (with a goal to visit all 58 in the United States someday), traveling, watching movies, local restaurants, and spending time with her pets, Hector (her Chihuahua-terrier mix) and Callie (her calico domestic shorthair).
Dr. Jessica Pizzillo is originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia. She earned her bachelor of science from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia Tech University.
Following veterinary school, Dr. Pizzillo completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn, New York. After seven years of practicing in Brooklyn, she moved to Las Vegas to escape the cold winters and to be closer to outdoor recreation. Dr. Pizzillo joined the Pet Health family in the spring of 2017.
She currently shares her home with Isabella (a perfectly sassy geriatric pitbull), Duncan (an adventurous cat and BFF to Isabella), and Lola (a robust feline who is a connoisseur of kibble and sunbathing). When Dr. Pizzillo is not working, she enjoys exploring hiking trails with Isabella, rock climbing, experimenting with vegan cooking, and sometimes just cuddling up on the couch with the mammals and a good book.
Dr. Denisse Aybar is originally from Rockville, Maryland. She attended the University of Maryland for her bachelor of science degree and then went to Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
After finishing veterinary school, she completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Advanced Veterinary Care Center in Lawndale, California. She then moved to southern Nevada where she has been practicing veterinary medicine ever since. Dr. Aybar joined the Pet Health staff in the spring of 2017.
Her professional interests include preventative and internal medicine as well as educating pet parents on their pet’s well-being. Outside of work, she enjoys going on hikes with MD, her Chihuahua-rat terrier mix, running, watching movies, and traveling.
