Today is and we hope you will consider our parrots in SWEAR.

Several months ago, the rescue was a victim of major fraud that involved our PayPal account, which we are STILL trying to resolve. Because of the fraud(which we have been fighting to resolve since JUNE!) we are not able to participate specifically in Giving Tuesday because of ongoing issues with that account, which is the facilitator of this amazing fundraising event!
Although we will not benefit from any promotional donations of GT, donations can still be made to us using the donate link on our webpage www.swearlv.org/donate or directly through Zelle or Venmo. Donations can also be made directly to our local veterinary office ( where the funds will remain on account to aid the care of the birds).

❤️POGO HAS BEEN FOUND!!!❤️

First, we would like to give a huge THANK YOU to our amazing community of bird lovers for sharing & helping get the word out about Pogo!

Pogo was one of 5 birds that belonged to a woman who was in the news recently for being found deceased in a freezer. They do not yet have a cause of death, but they do have a suspect in custody.

When called out, Animal Control picked up her 2 dogs & three of the five birds. One other bird was found deceased at the scene, and Pogo was nowhere to be found. Metro needed to know her whereabouts as well, because no one but her owner had the right to remove her from the property(other than AC).

We put the post out asking for help, and you guys made it happen! Metro let me know this am, that Pogo had been "given" by the the suspects ex, to a family member. She was picked up from that person's home & is now safe with The Animal Foundation, hopefully soon to be under our wings (sorry, I just had to!)& rehabbing.

These birds have been through an incredible amount of stress over the last few weeks, if not months. We will keep you all updated, as things progress. Again, THANK YOU for helping get Pogo back with those who know & love her special little self!!!!

❌️⚠️PLEASE HELP FIND POGO!!!⚠️❌️

We are trying to find assist in finding Pogo (Blue & Gold macaw) with the permission of the Las Vegas Metro Police Dept.
There was a crime committed at the address where this bird & 4 others lived. We know where the other 4 birds are, but Pogo is missing!
Pogo is VERY identifiable, as she has scoliosis of her spine, and a very severe scissor beak, which requires her to have a special diet & regular maintenance/ trimming. The Detective in charge of the case feels she may have been sold or stolen by someone with access to the home.

I know that our bird community is huge, but we are a small world too. Let's spread the word & get Pogo home!!!

This is an active LVMPD investigation, and she is considered missing/stolen property at this point.

FRIDAY FEATHERED FEATURE: Angel

Angel is a beautiful Triton Cockatoo and, as most Cockatoos, she can be quite vocal. Angel is bilingual and speaks Spanish and English. When standing next to her cage she will whisper speak to you. She loves to be with people and likes to be part of whatever is going on. She is an active toy destroyer and plays in her cage when she is not out. Like all girls, she loves new toys! Her foster family says she is well behaved when out of her cage but prefers to perch on a person rather than a stand. Angel loves to dance and listen to music.

Angel would be a wonderful addition to anyone / family that has the time to devote to all that she needs. The best home is one with a small amount of birds. Angel has a tendency to prefer men. In her foster home, she loves the foster dad and brothers and not so much her foster mom. Multiple visits would be preferable for placement into a new foster to adopt home.

Birds, like people, have music preferences. So when one of our volunteers starts the day with 80s rock, Molly just HAS to jam out. Nirvana and "head banging" while shouting "UH-HUH-" kept the birds (and us) entertained during breakfast rounds. Molly is ready to rock your world and looking for her forever home.

Feathered Friday Feature: FREDDIE Freddie is a well-known DuCorps Cockatoo in SWEAR. He is still young at about 10 years old. You can always see him trying to get your attention with his killer dance moves. Freddie, like many cockatoos, has lots of playful energy and is looking for someone who can spend lots of out of cage time with him. He loves, loves, loves to play with his toys! When he finds a special someone. He turns into a puddle of white smoosh. Freddie has been patiently waiting with SWEAR almost 2 years! Freddie needs a family that will be patient with him and understands his cockatoo-ness. If you think Freddie would make a good family member, fill out an application at www.swearlv.org

We met some lovely Zupreem reps at SuperZoo who were kind enough to donate food to our parrots. Razzle was so excited she screamed and started dancing! Thank you so very much from all the monsters, I mean macaws, and cockatoos, and other parrots!

Our 3 dumped cockatiels are adjusting to life in SWEAR. Foster homes are a great way for parrots to have exposure to enrichment, be involved in daily activities, and be around other people and pets. These 3 are showing sweet and loving personalities!! They have started to play with toys and sing during the day. Enjoy the video update! Our Story

SouthWest Exotic Avian Rescue (SWEAR) is a 501(c)3 foster-home-based parrot rescue and re-homing organization in Las Vegas, Nevada. We work to help birds that can no longer stay in their current situation and place them in caring foster homes until we match them with permanent homes. We provide every bird with veterinary care, housing, enrichment, food, and behavior analysis/training. Requirements for foster/adopt are listed on our website. Potential foster/adoptive homes must submit an application at www.swearlv.org and then follow through with a home visit by one of our volunteers. Depending on the species, we require a 30 day trial foster period before a bird can be permanently adopted.

Our priority is always the birds and their welfare!
