Guess what?

The Parrot Posse fairy bird-people waved a magic wand(code for: world their butts off to get donations to help birds in need!)and sent the birds of SWEAR an awesome new elegant flight cage, and...Stainless foraging buckets!!!

I wanted to post a thank you, and that we had recieved these special gifts and are so thankful for all you do. I'll post more pics when I fill the buckets & hang them too!❤️

Once again at the forefront of assisting with yet another big siezure of birds, Posse sure could use our help with donations right now if you have a couple $$$ to spare. Some of our new (and returning) parrots went for a medical intake exam. Did you know it is important for parrots to receive proper veterinary care, including regular exams and blood work? Parrots are excellent at hiding illness, and exams can help keep your bird healthy or even prevent disease. Be sure to find a veterinarian who specializes in birds. Need help locating a vet? We received an urgent call from our vet for a bird in need of blood donation. We quickly rounded up 3 green cheeks plus one volunteer brought 3 of her personal birds. We at SWEAR are grateful to help our fellow flock members. Wings up for a speedy recovery to our friend. Thanks to Lone Mountain Animal Hospital for continued care of such special birds.

✨️✨️ADOPTION ANNOUNCEMENT ✨️✨️
Duck is a special bird and known by many volunteers. She is a sweet tempered parrot who was in search of someone who would adore her forever. Enter Michelle. Michelle and Duck met and I think they both saw hearts and stars. We loved getting updates and pictures. Duck is a wonderful fit into their family and they have officially adopted her! Their 2 year old even signed the adoption form ❤️. We are so happy for the Viall family and Duck!! She has truly found her home. Congratulations to all!

Steve and Angie, Sprocket's parents, came back to visit birds over the weekend. They fell in love with not one....not two....but THREE birds! Papa and Angie adore each other and will have many fun days ahead. Amazons Harley and Doogie stole Steve's heart and we all decided he is officially owned by them. We wish the three birds all the best as they start their adventure with their new family. Congratulations to all!

Our lovely sweet girl, "V" has found her people & has been adopted!!!

V has had a bit of a journey to find exactly where she is supposed to be, but she ended up with awesome parronts! Congratulations to Andrea & Alex Mortimore(and her new brother-conure Boo!)on your adoption on V, now named "Scout"!

❤️Hachi has exploded into a sweet bird and her personality is shining. She adores her mama! We are so happy for the Mills family and Hachi!

🧡Sprocket is well-known around SWEAR and took to both Steve and Angie. He is showing his singing talents and starting to open up more; and they are working with him and loving him 100%. We are so happy for Sprocket and his family!

Give a big party celebration for these two as they start their happily ever afters!

A huge THANK YOU to The Parrot Posse for the brand new cage they sent to us.
This weekend was a crazy whirlwind of 8 intakes in 24 hrs, and this little cutie went to her foster home in a brand new cage, with a load of toys from Posse too!

Pardon our pause ⏸️ SWEAR volunteers assisted in taking in EIGHT parrots in the past 24 hours. We also have a numerous parrots entering in to and returning to rescue withing the next few weeks. We are 100% volunteer run and appreciate your patience as we navigate responses. Today is #GivingTuesday and we hope you will consider our parrots in SWEAR. Several months ago, the rescue was a victim of major fraud that involved our PayPal account, which we are STILL trying to resolve. Because of the fraud(which we have been fighting to resolve since JUNE!) we are not able to participate specifically in Giving Tuesday because of ongoing issues with that account, which is the facilitator of this amazing fundraising event! Although we will not benefit from any promotional donations of GT, donations can still be made to us using the donate link on our webpage www.swearlv.org/donate or directly through Zelle or Venmo. Donations can also be made directly to our local veterinary office ( where the funds will remain on account to aid the care of the birds). Please enjoy a 2024 highlight reel!

Birds, like people, have music preferences. So when one of our volunteers starts the day with 80s rock, Molly just HAS to jam out. Nirvana and "head banging" while shouting "UH-HUH-" kept the birds (and us) entertained during breakfast rounds. Molly is ready to rock your world and looking for her forever home.

Feathered Friday Feature: FREDDIE Freddie is a well-known DuCorps Cockatoo in SWEAR. He is still young at about 10 years old. You can always see him trying to get your attention with his killer dance moves. Freddie, like many cockatoos, has lots of playful energy and is looking for someone who can spend lots of out of cage time with him. He loves, loves, loves to play with his toys! When he finds a special someone. He turns into a puddle of white smoosh. Freddie has been patiently waiting with SWEAR almost 2 years! Freddie needs a family that will be patient with him and understands his cockatoo-ness. If you think Freddie would make a good family member, fill out an application at www.swearlv.org

Our Story

SouthWest Exotic Avian Rescue (SWEAR) is a 501(c)3 foster-home-based parrot rescue and re-homing organization in Las Vegas, Nevada. We work to help birds that can no longer stay in their current situation and place them in caring foster homes until we match them with permanent homes. We provide every bird with veterinary care, housing, enrichment, food, and behavior analysis/training. Requirements for foster/adopt are listed on our website. Potential foster/adoptive homes must submit an application at www.swearlv.org and then follow through with a home visit by one of our volunteers. Depending on the species, we require a 30 day trial foster period before a bird can be permanently adopted.

Our priority is always the birds and their welfare!
