🌟 Meet MARY MALTBIE, PhD! 🌟

At Pet Lodge, we’re proud to be connected with amazing local professionals who share our love for dogs—like Mary Maltbie, PhD, a talented obedience trainer and the owner of Heel Dog Training Academy.

Mary’s journey into training began back in 1990 with her first golden retriever, a high-energy pup who inspired her to take her very first obedience class. What started as a way to help her own dog quickly grew into a lifelong passion—leading her to teach at dog clubs across the country, mentor with top trainers, and eventually launch her own business: Heel Dog Training Academy. 🐾

Over the years, Mary has trained and competed with her five golden retrievers—Pol, Random, Simi, Steel, and her current three-year-old, Holden. Together they’ve earned countless titles in obedience, rally, agility, and more. For Mary, the most rewarding part of her work is helping people discover just how smart and capable their dogs are, and watching the bond between dog and owner grow stronger every day.

When she’s not training, Mary enjoys working with her own dogs and capturing beautiful moments through her love of photography—often snapping pictures of people and their canine companions in action.
