🌳🐾 Great Outdoors Month is here! 🌞 Whether you're hitting the trails or enjoying your backyard, here are some tips to keep your pets safe and happy:
Hydration is Key: Always carry water and a bowl for your pet.
Paw Protection: Hot pavement can burn paws. Stick to grassy areas or use paw protectors.
Tick Check: After outdoor adventures, check your pet for ticks and use preventative treatments.
Enjoy the great outdoors with your furry friends safely! 🐶🐱 #GreatOutdoorsMonth #PetSafety

We were caught! 👀😹 This little Shrimp presented for a Cuterebra, which is a genus of bot flies that can infect an animal host. It was successfully removed in our care, and we’re happy to report that Shrimp is doing well now!
Ocean themed bandage on dog's paw
Tis' the summer season 🌊🐠🐙 This adorable patient, Finn, is a 1-year-old Bluetick Coonhound who presented for a sedated splint change to continue treating his left distal tibial fracture. Keeping the ocean-theme going, we had fun with his bandage change!
As we continue to update our facility to improve the quality of care your pets receive, our team is excited about their new kitchen area which was a bonus related to the overall renovations! These beautiful cabinets were installed in the new kitchen, making break time for our team members feel brand-new. 🍽
More updates to come!
How to entertain kitties? Bird watching! 🦜 We like to play videos of birds for our hospitalized cats, like Fernando here, to keep them distracted and less anxious about being in an unfamiliar environment.
Anyone else enjoying the snow today like VA Christina?! We hope everyone is having a great week so far, happy hump day! 💚
Here's the answer to Dr. Thomson's World Spay Day question:
An ovariectomy is the removal of the ovaries, which is commonly performed laparoscopically by a board certified surgeon (as seen in the video). An ovariohysterectomy is when the ovaries AND the uterus are removed, which is performed through a traditional spay with your pet's primary care vet.
Here's Dr. Thomson explaining the benefits of a laparoscopic ovariectomy!
Our ER team was all hands-on deck when an emergency C-Section presented to our hospital. Momma cat, Lollipop, arrived having difficulties during labor. She had previously broken her pelvis which was preventing her from properly birthing to her kittens.
ER Veterinarian Dr. Gavin immediately rushed into surgery and promptly handed the team two kittens that needed to be revived. After a long hour of CPR process (including but limited to chest compressions, mouth-to-mouth, flow-by oxygen, bulb syringe suction, stimulation, and multiple warming methods), Lollipop’s two kittens were showing signs of life and were successfully returned to their mother! Emotion filled the air from both our team and Lollipop when the kittens were reunited.
At this time of year, we find ourselves reflecting on all the things we're grateful for at our hospital & at Ethos. We'll be sharing some things we're #ThankfulFor over the next couple weeks.
#ThankfulFor our talented, fast-paced emergency team who provide their immediate care to critical patients in need.
Well-deserved head scratches for Rory girl! 🐈⬛ She did so well while hospitalized with us. Our team made sure she was comfortable during her stay and checked in on Rory with these head scratches - she couldn't get enough of them! If you listen closely, you hear her happy purring!
Even our pups need to have team meetings! 🐶 Here we have employee pets Madison, Gunther, and Ari discussing important topics such as treats, toys, and walks. They ended their successful meeting with a fun game of tag!
Who doesn’t love little kitty kisses as a midday pick-me-up?! This pretty lady, Kitty, had lots of love to give during her visit with our team – even after she received an E-collar (that doesn’t happen often)! We're glad to be there for Kitty, and we're glad Kitty was there for us with many kisses. 😊
