Meet our Lakeview family! This is post #3 of our new facebook series: Meet the Lakeview Team & their pets! We will be featuring 2 awesome team members once a month for you to get to know a little better!

•ALL ABOUT THE TEAM MEMBER•
1.) What is your name?
MarDee

2.)What is your position at Lakeview?
Licensed Veterinarian Technician/ Surgery Team leader

3.) How many years have you been working at Lakeview?
28 years

4.) What made you want to join the vet med industry?
Being raised on a small farm in Lycippus PA I always had a love for Animals, and caring for their wellbeing. I also had a thirst for knowledge, and combining the two just seemed like a great career

5.) (For The techs that have been here 10+ years only) How has the Vet Med world changed since starting your career?
The Vet Med industry as well as things here at Lakeview have really changed. The practice moved from pen and ink files to becoming completely paperless. The diagnostics that we offer have changed abundantly as well. From Hand dipped rads to the digital ones, and the ability to ultrasound. Blood & Urine Chemistries went from being sent to a reference lab to being completed in house. Monitoring Surgical patients went from human auscultation of the heart and respiratory rate and capillary refill times(the time it takes for the gums to return to a pink color after applying pressure to it. this helps assess your pet's circulatory system) to having a pulse ox,ECG, and automatic blood pressure systems built into the monitor. We used to use gravity fed IV lines, but now we have fluid pumps to help regulate fluid therapy administrations. Medication and anesthesia have also made vast improvements, and enable longer, more comfortable, and complete lives for our furry companions.

6.) What is your favorite thing about your job?
MarDees Favorite thing about her job is always having another layer to go, another problem to solve, and not having any sameness to the day.

7.) What are some of your favorite things to do on your days off?
MarDee Enjoys studying about herbal remedies, and wild crafting with different herbs/ fauna that grow around her home,Brierhill. She also enjoy cooking, and trying new recipes on my Husband Rob. She also enjoys relaxing with yoga, and taking care of all of her critters at home!

•ALL ABOUT THE PETS! •
1.) What is your Pet(s) name and Breed?
MarDee has Cinch who is an unregistered paint, Maggie a pony, 2 barn cats Sansa, and Arya, a flock of 7 black australorp chickens, and a dog named Mimzey

2.) How old are your pets?
Cinch is 23 or 24 years old. Maggie is 29 years old. Both Sansa and Arya are about 8 years old. The chickens range from 4 months to 3 years old. Mimzey is 15-16 years old.

3.) What is something you love doing with your pets?
MarDee loves sitting and watching her pets interact with eachother, and her. She also like trail riding Cinch when the weather is nice, and having little Maggie pull us on the sled if we have enough snow on the ground.

4.) Are any of your pets Rescue’s?
Mimzey is the only rescue we have. She was found by one of my co-worker’s husbands when he was at an out of state motocross race. He could not locate her owner, or family. Therefore he brought her home. Due to them already having 3 dogs, and our unfortunate recent passing of our Malamute we brought Mimzey home to Brierhill.

UPDATE 7/16/24: The two women responsible for the smash and grab burglaries in our parking lot were arrested in Ohio. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING ONLINE PHARMACIES AND PRESCRIPTIONS:

Unfortunately, corporate online pharmacies have been becoming increasingly more difficult for us to deal with and handle. Our employees are spending countless hours dealing with script approvals and correcting the pharmacies mistakes. Corporate online pharmacies are notorious for selling counterfeit and expired products putting your pets health at risk! We have now made the decision that we will no longer approve any online pharmacy requests via phone, fax, email, or online. If you would like to purchase any prescription products through a corporate online pharmacy we will be providing handwritten prescriptions only. These scripts can then be mail or picked up at our office. If you are in need a handwritten prescription please allow 2-3 business days for the prescription to be written and signed by the prescribing doctor. It will then be your responsibility to send them to the online pharmacy of your choosing. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but it is in the best interest of your pets health.
THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO OUR ONLINE PHARMACY OR LOCAL PHARMACIES! Our online pharmacy is stocked with all the products that your pet may need at competitive prices with fast shipping, It is supplied by a trusted supplier and backed by us! Please check it out if you haven’t. Click the link below to start exploring. All prescription requests through our pharmacy will be approved online and will be shipped directly to your address.
Please reach out to the office if you have any questions during this transition!
