Charlie is finished with his board and train!
Charlie was with us for 3 weeks to work on basic obedience and manners. He had your typical issues like jumping on guests, wanting to play with every dog he saw on his walks, pulling on leash, and not coming when called. Charlie has been home for a few weeks now, and his owners tell us that he’s like a brand new dog!
Our board and trains are the perfect way to fast-track your dogs training. During their stay, they’ll live with their trainer the entire time! We offer 5 day weeks that allow your dog to come home on the weekends, or the typical 7 day week where your dog stays with us until they’re ready to go home. With consistent structure, multiple daily training sessions, and public training outings, you can be sure your dog will come back as a well mannered family member.

“When can I start training my puppy?”
Right now! Puppies are little sponges and they learn so fast. Charlotte is here for a board and train and has picked up on sit, down, and stay in just two days!
It’s much easier to help your puppy form good habits now, rather than trying to fix bad habits later on. Start your puppy off right by attending training classes as soon as possible!
Training your dog doesn’t have to take hours!
Incorporating short training sessions like this into daily activities with your dog will still yield big results. Riley is practicing staying on her bed while I get her food ready. This is a great exercise to work on impulse control and build longer duration for her “place” command.
The best part? It only adds 1.5 minutes to our feeding routine!
Riley working on the “place” command this afternoon!
Riley has an old injury that can make sitting or laying down for long periods of time uncomfortable for her. The “place” command gives us a way to tell Riley to stay somewhere while still giving her the freedom to move to a position that is comfortable for her.
At our first session, Finn pulled so hard on the leash that his nails were bleeding after just a few minutes. He was screaming because he wanted to go see my car, and was paying absolutely no mind to his owner.
Today was our third session with Finn. He was able to walk calmly by my car on the way out and back from our walk. His owner even reported that her kids were able to take the leash on their walk together earlier this week.
Finn gets to spend more time walking, and most importantly, more time hanging out with his family now.
Check out this clip from Riley’s loose leash walking session!
Would you believe this is her first time working outside? The volunteers at the shelter had mentioned she was pretty tough to walk on leash, and they weren’t kidding.
Within just two sessions so far, she’s made a total turnaround. Riley absolutely loves her walks, and now her handler (and new family!) can enjoy them with her too!
Nova makes the best little shopping partner!
She has plenty of applications in, and she’ll be meeting with a family this week! Thanks to everyone that shared her posts.
We’ve been spending the last few weeks really polishing up her obedience to make sure that her new family can take her anywhere.
Nova was trained through our FREE board and train program exclusively for shelter dogs. One of the biggest reasons that dogs are surrendered to shelters is due to behavior problems, and it’s another reason many dogs stay there longer than they should. We started offering this service to help dogs struggling with behavior problems that are otherwise highly adoptable.
This spot will be open once again when Nova goes to her forever home. If you’ve got a shelter pup in mind that you think might benefit from this program, let your shelter know and have them reach out to us!
Nova’s week two update!
She’s learning to sit, down, and stay on command. She came to us walking pretty good on the leash, but needed some work to learn to stay to one side. She’s also been started on polite greetings now that she has some basic obedience skills.
She loves being with her handler and loves to interact with anyone she sees. This is proving to make “stay” a big challenge for her. Nonetheless, she did great on this outing to the local Lowes!
Nova is still available through Orphans of the Storm (No Kill Animal Shelter)! She’d love an active home where she would get to run or hike regularly. Nova is incredibly friendly with people and other dogs. She’ll be ready to go once she completes her free board and train with us. Her new family will get two free lessons to make sure Nova’s skills transfer over. Reach out to Orphans if you’d like to apply to adopt Nova!
Nova had been here just over a week!
We’ve taken it pretty easy to make sure she has time to decompress and adjust to a home life, but she’s still made plenty of progress.
So far she has learned to sit and stay in the house. She has a GREAT “come” command already and responds about 70% of the time (seriously, this girl would love to be someone’s hiking buddy!). She’s also began the foundations of threshold training. Threshold training means Nova is learning to not run out of her cage, the house, or the car door without permission.
Nova will be available for adoption and will come with TWO free lessons to make sure all her awesome skills that she learns here transfer over to her new family. More videos in the comments of what she’s learned this week!
Maple is here for a board and train!
This is day two with us. We put a big emphasis on teaching fast, reliable “come” commands. She’s doing a fabulous job!
Oakley has been making huge progress! He loves to chase pretty much anything with wheels, and becomes very frustrated when he can’t get to them. This used to result in lots of barking and spinning. Today we hung out on this busy street corner for our session and he absolutely rocked it!
