What is feline leukemia anyway? FelV is a virus that weakens a cat’s immune system and shortens a cat’s life expectancy but they CAN live normal lives! They deserve a normal life outside a cage and can be adopted into homes with other FelV cats, as it is contagious, but ONLY to other cats! Several of these kittens will be retested soon and may even eventually test negative! There are new medicines out there that these kittens are currently on that help lessen their viral load! Thanksgiving came for the Saving Sage dogs today! A gourmet meal of all dog-safe foods was prepared with the utmost love by Riley from Nubs the Pups Help assisting in meals, Carolina from Pawtitas andSara & Felipe from Tailsandpawsphotography. On the menu was plain turkey and ground beef, green beans, puréed apples, quinoa, and for dessert pumpkin puréed pup cups with whipped cream! AMMO’s story went viral, having resonated deeply with so many of you who felt the heartbreak that we did when we took him in. We have received more than 50 applications for him, from all over the country! As a result, we are pausing applications for him so that our very small group of volunteers can address as many as possible, so we greatly appreciate your patience. Given his age, we are prioritizing more local applicants as we never want him to be in limbo again. Our ability to take in animals with such heart wrenching backstories is contingent upon your generosity, so please consider donating to Ammo and the many other animals in our care. And finally, just because it will be our mission to find Ammo an incredible home, we want to shed light on the MANY other senior animals in our rescue (we have a 23 year-old cat named Tabitha💔) and in rescues EVERYWHERE. While they may not have gone viral, they all have similar, devastating stories and they need you! One of our sister rescues, DD's Senior Sanctuary is way over capacity, specifically catering to the most senior dogs in need. PLEASE! Open your heart to a senior! They deserve to live their remaining years sleeping on a lap or a bed in the sun.
