Whole Health Veterinary Care

Whole Health Veterinary Care Welcome to Whole Health Veterinary Care! Your new partner in caring for the health and wellbeing of your pets. No “cookie cutter” medicine here.

Whole Health Veterinary Care follows Dr. Christina Stancliff-Lubow’s philosophy on veterinary practice. During every medical evaluation, she identifies the best course of action utilizing gold standards within the profession and develops an initial treatment plan that leads to the best possible outcome. She then reviews, explains, & evaluates each phase/component of that plan with the client. Toge

ther they create a suitable course of action which best fits the medical needs of the pet and is feasible for the client. Final decisions are ultimately made by the client. She strives to relay the relevant medical and scientific information and invites her clients to make informed decisions about their pet’s care. Sometimes the available options are limited, other times they are vast. In the end it is a team effort between the medical staff and the client which guides all medical decisions. This casual and supportive atmosphere goes beyond client consultation. Whole Health Veterinary Care also utilizes low stress and Fear Free®™ techniques throughout the practice and in every aspect of our patients' medical care. This means we take steps to ensure that your pet’s experience with us is always as safe & comfortable as yours during each visit. Our mission is to provide high quality veterinary care to our patients. We strive to provide both medical and behavioral health services. We achieve this goal through effective communication with and responsible education of our clients. To us, high quality veterinary care follows the standards set forth by the national and state veterinary boards and species related associations. We also strive to meet these goals with compassion and care of our clients and their pets.

Owners should be advised that strict observance of good hand hygiene—including proper handwashing, maintaining clean and short fingernails, avoiding nail-biting, and avoiding scratching the perianal area—is the most effective means of preventing human pinworm infection and/or reinfection.

This eartipped cutie showed up outside of someone’s home meowing for help and holding up her back leg.

Seeing that she was injured and extremely skinny, the person who found her gave us a call. We went out to trap this kitty—but no trap was needed! She walked right up to the friendly ACLR volunteer for pets and even made a few biscuits. We whisked her away to our vet clinic in a comfy carrier.

What happened next: She is around 9 years old, weighs 5 pounds (!!!), and required a leg amputation because of the extent of the injury.

After a dental exam and X rays, our vet determined that she required a full mouth tooth extraction too. Her teeth were badly infected, likely contributing to her low weight.

This sweet girl began a quick recovery! She was ready to eat some dinner after her dental and leg surgery, and trusted us immediately. She purrs constantly and loves making biscuits. Clearly, she was not thriving outdoors—so she will be part of the ACLR family until she’s ready to find her forever home. ❣️

Acorns contain a toxic principle called gallotannin. In cows and horses who repeatedly ingest significant amounts, we have seen severe gastrointestinal irritation, depression and kidney damage. Dogs, however, generally do not forage on acorns as livestock do — and even if they do ingest several acorns, it is usually an acute (single) exposure, not a chronic situation. In these cases, we typically only see mild to moderate gastrointestinal upset, which can include vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal discomfort. However, there is also the potential for mechanical irritation (from the sharp fragmented pieces of acorn), and possible obstruction, should a large amount of acorn material become lodged in the GI tract.
