We are a small no-kill rescue with the audacity to think we can change the world. We are a 501c3, non-profit organization.

We aim to impact the severe overpopulation problem in the south by not only rescuing animals, but also helping through educating the public, community outreach, foster networks, and transport programs. Our building is being remodeled but we aren't letting that slow us down! We are actively saving animals thanks to a network of local foster families. Since we are small and we cannot take every anim

al in need (as much as that breaks our hearts) we focus on the more desperate cases - animals starving in the streets, sick, mangy, or injured animals. We have big goals, big dreams, and hope sincerely that you will help us make a difference for all of us. Mailing Address:

Good morning! Please meet Jennings he will be part of the SCAR family soon. Jennings and the Board would like to Thank everyone for all your help and support!! SCAR has been blessed in so many ways but as we told you earlier in the year we are having to survive on much less due to donations being way down. We hate to ask again but if you can please donate it would be much appreciated. SCAR is running low on funds and we have staff, utility bills and vets bills to pay. All rescues right now are in a bind and there are puppies and kittens falling from the sky and not enough space for any of us to help them all. The calls come 24/7 a day!! We are beyond capacity at the moment due to so many needing help and transports not really moving right now. Without your help we cannot continue to move forward!!!

Kofun has been with us since he was 3 months old and only knows shelter life. He dreams of the day he will get to find out what it's like to live with a family where he can REALLY stretch those long legs of his. We want to give him a really good reason to wear his party hat, so come see him!

Back at the end of July, we took in this teeny kitty that was about 2/3 weeks old. Staff fell in love, and he was deemed the office cat. He was bottle fed for most of his time with us and was the sweetest little guy. Unfortunately, Spike got sick Tuesday morning. Staff did all the could to get him better, but unfortunately he crossed the bridge this morning. We love you and already miss you Spike! ❤️

Marvin is the sweetest, goofiest boy we've got. He's been with us for most of his life, he came to us when he was about 6 months old. His mom recently got adopted (Maggie), and we would love for it to be his turn next!

UPDATE: Momma and all puppies are safe!! Thanks to SCAR Staff and Stephanie Walters who not only got in touch with us but helped catch the 3 left early this morning.
Momma is so tired but doesn't want to sleep. These babies are all in a mess. There are no words for the ticks and fleas they have. Their ears are covered on the inside too. They are so bad we are waiting to hear from Vet if there is anything different than what we use we can use on them because they are so small and this is so bad. We are desperate for puppy food - it will need to be for small breed because they are so small. SCAR has also run behind all year on donations and we know everyone is strapped but if you can help with these babies we would appreciate it greatly!!!! They are going to require a lot to get them ready for adoption. Please know it will take time to get them ready for adoption. The puppies have not been handled until now so they are scared to death. We really really need your help!!!!

We have momma and one puppy - the other 3 are to light to be trapped. Staff and the lady who contacted us will keep an eye out and they will be checking the area regularly to try to and catch the other three. Pray we can get them

What a smoke show!! Smokey is a beautiful lab/pit/heeler mix and is only a year old. He is SUPER sweet and is patiently waiting for his forever home.

Sweet Spencer has been here since 2019. As you can see, he loves to play and gets the zoomies quite often. He's a little scared of strangers, but once you meet him, he loves you!

🐾 Before dawn two days in a row we were hard at work prepping for transport and loading animals. 🥱 Once everyone was settled in we hit the road for Starkville! Homeward Bound accepted 7 unwanted puppies this morning and is sending them up north to receiving shelters that have adopters waiting! While transports have slowed way down, we’re grateful for the chance to do this. Even if we are listening to the melodious sounds of puppy temper tantrums for hours. 🎶 A snippet of the song they graced us with is attached. ☺️ We also made this same trip yesterday to take advantage of the vet schools spay/neuter clinic. We get animals sterilized and the students get to practice higher numbers of surgeries earlier in their careers. It’s a win for all and we couldn’t be more grateful. Our partners make such an impact in the scope of what we’re able to do. Huge thanks for MSU CVM’s Shelter Medicine Program and Homeward Bound for doing their best to help animals across the state.
