Congratulations to Rip and owner Christopher McCall Rip passed the pinnacle event in the Hunting Retriever Club world, the 2024 Spring HRC International Grand. Rip ran at a very high and consistent level for 5 days to prove he’s one of the best hunting retrievers in the country. To say I’m proud of him is an understatement. For me personally and as a trainer, passing the Grand became a goal of mine when I bought my first lab over 15 years ago. There are so many people that I need to thank for their contribution to this and role they played in helping us get there. I will do this personally. To God Be The Glory and the best is yet to come

Kudos to client Ben Cox and his dog Bobby for killing it in Arkansas. Bobby picked up 70 ducks and geese and 10 different species! Their hunting group totaled over 140 geese and 80 ducks in four days. Good thing Bobby is a workhorse 😂 Congrats guys!

Happy 1st Birthday to Ms Ruby. Ruby is a very talented yellow lab female we have the pleasure of training. She has immense retrieving desire, very eager to please, intelligent and so, so sweet. Ruby earned her HRC Started title a few weeks back and will be working toward running AKC derbies in the spring/fall as well as continuing her hunt test accomplishments. She will have a very bright competition career but is ultimately going to become a well balanced hunting retriever. We are excited for her future. Thanks to Sloan Lloyd and family for partnering with us to help bring out the best in Ruby.

Congratulations to Nancy Evans and Noah for passing their Public Access Certification test. Thank you to Nancy in partnering with us for Obedience and prepping them for this important achievement. Noah and Nancy passed their exam with flying colors incurring not a single deduction. Noah will serve as a Diabetic Detection K9 (Native Retrievers doesn’t train dogs on detection or offer service certifications) and certainly has a very bright future.

Unfortunately our fall grand journey came to end after the 4th series yesterday afternoon. Ms Belle didn’t carry enough points to make it to todays final upland series. As disappointing as it is, I’m extremely proud of her performance and her effort in executing what was asked of her over the last 4 days. She has far exceeded our expectations as a family companion and hunting retriever and the best is still yet to come for her. Hopefully we will get another crack at the grand in the spring of 2024. If not, we are hoping she’ll have puppies on the ground. Huge thanks to @5.9_braden for trusting us with Belle and being a part of our Native Family

We are officially checked in to the 2023 HRC Fall International Grand in Kevil, KY. We have drawn a water series first so good thing our farm in Southern Illinois allowed us to get some last minute lining, handling and marking drills in. Congratulations to Native Retrievers Working Nine to Five “Dolly” and her owner Christopher McCall Dolly went 4/4 in seasoned to earn her title and will be moving on to finished. Dolly is beautiful, super sweet and one of the most affectionate females we’ve trained. She’s the complete package and will produce some wonderful pups in the future

Congratulations to Belle. It’s only a few years late but she has officially been awarded all of her championship titles. Congratulations HRCH Mahons Belle. One thing I have come to learn over my years of dog training and handling is there is never a perfect dog. However, Ms Belle is as close as they come. She is beautiful, well mannered, has the best disposition, steady but has strong drive, very talented in the field and one of the best team players we have had. She’s so well balanced that she is our standard for each new retriever student. Thanks to @5.9_braden for trusting us, our process and allowing us to be a part of your journey. Along with achieving her Hunting Retriever Champion Title, Belle has competed in several Super Retriever Series events, is one pass away from obtaining her AKC Master title and will be competing in the 2023 Fall International Grand in Kevil, KY this October. The best is still yet to come

Tealy is a female boykin we have had the pleasure of training. She is the sweetest, most affectionate girl we have ever had. She’s really come a long way in her training and is loving her job. She’s a pretty talented girl too!

I know a few girls who are pumped about it being the freakin weekend!

Welcome Tucker, too! He’s the second Male Boykin pup named Tucker we have had in the past year. We like to call him “squirt”. He’s got a lot of pep in his step and is well on his way to becoming a balanced pet and hunting dog. We have so much fun working with him.
