Bernie is doing well he got his tubes out today and he is healing nicely. Cha cha the Chinese beautiful chicken passed away in the night and I have no clue why. She was eating well and walking all over the place. I got a notice from the folks who adopted Eddie that he was the victim of a freak accident and he passed away. It has not been the greatest of days.

Bernie's appetite is good. Actually it hasn't faltered. He has been taking his antibiotics and his pain pills with no problems whatsoever. He's been eating his breakfast and dinner with no problems. He's been clear-eyed and getting up to go outside and do his business. The first night home from the vet he slept on a pallet next to my bed, but the second night he chose a crate with the other dogs and he has not changed his mind since. I have a wonderful antibiotic spray that I sort of missed over him and his drains are doing well. It was an expensive surgery but the vet at highway 78 veterinarian did a good job. I do have to give her credit for that. And she did her best from what I could see to come down on the price as much as possible after I begged and explained and pleaded. I am grateful to Dr Muhoho for her efforts to take care of Bernie. They wouldn't even let me take him home until he had come out of anesthesia enough to make her happy that he was okay.

Had to bring one of my sanctuary seniors, Bernie, to hwy78 vet today. Bad neck injury. He got into it with a younger dog. It was going to be more, but i basically begged so the bill is 1500 for sedation and stitches. My regular vet is closed until monday. Please help. Any amount is appreciated. Im picking him up so pics to follow. I hate asking but the $900 spent on the dumped senior poodle boy Romeo cleaned out our back up. Ive had 2 neuters since then also. Found tied to a pole in a WPB Park. Of course this baby is scared😪. Able to be looped and walked but did not like being muzzled in clinic for processing 😭

This stunning looking girl was found tied to a pole in a park in WPB.

Behaviors Observed: Very fearful, thrashing and continued signs of FAS.

Clinic staff reported that she was easily loop leashed and took her for a walk. They walked her to the clinic for processing but she was reactive to being muzzled and she thrashes when her face is touched.

Volunteer Notes: Friendly yet frightened. Volunteer was able to pet her a little bit.
She would rather be in the kennel versus the yard.

Request to Rescues: This beautiful girl needs urgent rescue due to her very fearful behavior. She will need a loving home with someone who can give her lots of time, space and TLC as she decompresses and learns to be with people. She may need to work with a professional trainer on her social skills prior to being in an adoption program. Due her behavior here, she is sadly not a candidate for our public adoption program.

One of my rescue dogs who got adopted lost his mom last year. Her boyfriend's family{?} kept Dasher. Somehow he ended up in the Plano shelter as a stray. They traced his chip to Dallas Animal Shelter and ME. {His chip did not xfr properly to FiNano.} they called me. I sent them 6 pages of proof including his chip number, screenshots of his adopter's application, and his petstablished file. They went ahead and returned him to the person who allowed him to get loose. now that's not to say I wouldn't have gone ahead and placed him back with them because he knows them and he is a senior. however y'all need to be aware that Plano has decided they don't have to follow rules and they're just going to adopt the dog out to whomever they want. forget about the fact that I am the one who spent money on that dog and adopted him out very carefully. and it's in the adoption contract that the dog has to be returned to the rescue if the owner should pass away. y'all better be careful dealing with Plano Animal services because they don't deal on the level. I'm so angry I can't even tell you. and I had to file a public information act request to get the adopter's name and number for a dog who is mine.

Cammie was an"unadoptable" dog we had in the rescue. Among her issues was her love of treats, ALL the treats, and her unwillingness to share. Colleen and Cort came all the way from Iowa to meet her and rescue her. She hasn't completely gotten over all her quirks but after lots of love and good care she's doing way better and coming up on 7 years in her forever home. Don't you love folks who give the hard ones a chance? Don't you love when it works out? Does she have the sweetest little face ever? ♥️

Buy your pure bred dog from a pet store? Here are the mamas on their way to be bred....again! Dog breeding is big business for the Amish and the conditions these dogs live in are horrific. These poor dogs were shaking uncontrollably. Stop buying dogs from stores. Stop buying dogs off the internet. If you can’t visit where your puppy is coming from then you are supporting puppy mills. Stop being part of the problem and Adopt....Don't Shop.

They have bright spirits!

I love having Victor and Sassy in for the evening. They needed a little bit more of a personal connection than we've had in a little while so I brought them in for the night again. They like graham crackers but they don't get them except for as a treat. I've had Victor steal the entire cracker from my hand lol. I cover the bed with a blanket to protect my comforter but they will hang out on the bed with me all night. It definitely reestablishes our relationship. Ducks are awesome.
