It’s National Cuddle Day!

The boys are cuddling with Buster.

Today is the day to cuddle with your pet(s).

It’s been said that cuddling relieves stress and help your heart rate settle down if you are stressed.

Since you are cuddling with your pet, take a sniff of his/her breath….is it tolerable?

WHOA!!!

Axel, what are you going to do with that knife?

I caught Axel going into the kennel area with a switch blade! He said it’s ok…I have to do something to…for Teagan.

I followed him into the kennel area while Rascal pushed a box in front of Teagan’s kennel.

Apparently the Amazon driver dropped off a box for her, it had 2 fluffy toy balls, that constantly squeak!

Even though Teagan played catch with the holey balls outside, her human felt bad that she forgot toys for Teagan to sleep with.

PSA - This weekend is New Years Eve!

Axel is getting a couple dogs ready for fireworks this weekend.

Brix & Hanks are getting elf prepared because the kennel always has fireworks set off over head.

If you live in an area where fireworks are legal to be set off, make sure you are prepared.

I’ll bet you, you will have/hear fireworks on
Fri (29 Dec), Sat (30 Dec), and Sun (31 Dec).

If your pet(s) get stressed out by loud noises, make sure your tranquilizers are filled and ready. If you set up a certain area in the house for your pet to hide in, get a move on!

You only have a couple days.

Since the Noelle & the boys wanted a snack break today, I told them I would take over the noon time turn out.

When I came back, they were sitting in a little pow-wow discussing every dog boarding this holiday.

As you can see, Kel always is into the Oreos, Axel is sucking on a candy cane, Noelle has her hands in some M&M’s…notice the writing on them? (Great gift from a nice couple.)

Then…Rascal is hitting the keyboard texting to Santa!

Hope each and every one of you is either enjoying the day with friends & family, your pets, or if you are alone - I hope you keep your chin up and enjoy yourself how you choose.

Traditional Ornament stories -

Gizmo brought a handmade traditional spider ornament with a written story behind it.

For many generations certain holiday ornaments are hung on the trees.

I remember having a silver spiderweb with a spider in the middle of it, hung on my family’s tree. I never knew the story behind it until today.

We also used to hang a pickle on the tree.

There are many different stories of each ornament, but seem to be a tradition in some families.

AXEL! What are you doing? 🫣

Guess what happens when Axel sings the same verse of a song over and over….

As Axel was turning the 3 dachshunds out for potty break, he kept singing, “good tying we bring to you and your kin” over and over.

You know, the We Wish You a Merry Christmas song, I did notice Axel carrying a roll of red ribbon too.

As Axel was TYING the ribbon around Duke’s feet, he kept singing…”good tying we bring…”.

No Axel! It’s ‘tidings’ not ‘tying.’

The look on his face when he found out the words are ‘tidings’ not ‘tying’. 😝

2fer today -

It’s National Gingerbread House Day & Poinsettia Day.

First of all, real poinsettia plants are toxic to dogs/cats. If you have any in the house, please be aware of this.

Second, the boys thought they could build this gingerbread house with no problems.

I think this is going to take a lot longer than they hoped. It’s been 45 minutes since they opened the box. This is how far they gotten.

Zoey is trying to help, but she can’t read the directions with Kel, Rascal has totally given up and made himself a gingerbread house, Axel is getting tired doing all the heavy lifting.

We’ve all been busy with a full kennel the past couple weeks. Noelle has been bugging me to take the Thanksgiving decor down so we can put the Christmas decor out.

She finally started today, she asked the boys to help her take thanksgiving down and box items, they said they’d help her.

She got all the thanksgiving items boxed and and brought the Christmas items out.

She got alot done, but was getting irritated with the boys. She stopped setting decor out to find the boys.

They have been playing Tic Tac Toe with Sawyer for 45 minutes!

Noelle just shook her head and said something about having to do all the take down and put up decor by herself. She even rolled her eyes at me. 😳

Anyone else have the same issue at home? Are you the only one who puts decor out and have to take it down?

Hwy. 205 update for those of you coming in the near future.

The new concreted lanes are now open.

There is a crossover just north of the kennels where you will get back onto the new lanes on the opposite side of 205.

The new lanes being used now are right in front of the kennels.

If you are boarding anytime around the Christmas holiday, please read this.

I have sent messages /texts to most of you.

Just want to make sure the dogs have updated their Bordetella vaccine or nasal before boarding. If they are current within a year of boarding, that’s ok. If not, please get it atleast 2 weeks before boarding.

I have and will be taking extra precautions this year because of the respiratory outbreak in the northwest & northeast. It isn’t in our area, that I have heard yet, but please make sure the dogs are current on any flu and Bordetella vaccines that your vet feels is needed.

Also, bring proof of the vaccines with you when dropping off for boarding or you can message/text a photo of the vet receipt with the dates given.

Axel had the job of noon turnout today.

He started off well with the 1st couple groups, got alittle fresh with the next few groups, and was just being a smartass while turning Hoss and his housemate out.

Hoss walked out of his kennel, ran out the door, started barking and chasing the calves as they were eating hay…like he always does.

Axel had enough! He told Hoss to, “Be quiet, the neighbors are napping, stop barking at the calves!”

Axel closed the gate to the yard and went in to freshen Hoss & Hank’s water before bringing the 2 dogs back inside.

It was taking a lot longer than it should, so I went out to make sure everything was ok.

Seems as though Hoss had HAD ENOUGH!

He trapped Axel under the water bucket.

In honor of National Dice Day & Cookie Day -

The boys talked Molly into a game of dice. She didn’t know how to play, so the boys made up special rules for her today.

Since she rolled a 5, and Axel rolled a 4, Molly got to start the dice game.

The boys wanted to use Oreo cookies instead of chips to keep score. But, when it came time to deal out the cookies, the boys & Molly noticed that Kel ate ALL the cookies!

Poor little boy, he’s going to have a tummy issue later today.

Molly helped out by carrying the empty Oreo wrapper inside to throw away.

The boys know these 2 puppies are very rambunctious. They don’t have an ‘OFF’ switch.

When Axel & Rascal told me they were going to take the puppies out for a walk today, I had to grab the camera. (I knew this wouldn’t be good!)

Gabbi (purple leash attached to Axel) & Mason (beige leash attached to Rascal) are very energetic puppies. It’s even hard for me to grab them when it’s time for them to come in from outside time.

Yes Axel & Rascal do their own stunts.

No, they weren’t harmed in the making of this post.

The boys have been waiting patiently (since Halloween) to start putting up holiday decorations in the kennel.

Axel & Rascal had help from Rocky, putting lighted garland on Gracie’s crate.

Gracie was excited, but since it took the boys so long to put the lights up, she went in for a nap.

Reintroduction before all the daily fun starts!

Noelle is the 1st elf that appeared at the kennels in Dec 2015. She had a lot of fun with the dogs and she did many chores at the kennels. But with the 3 boys, Noelle has taken to working the desk, she’s earned the break.

On the morning of 29 Nov 2019, there was a pile of 3 boxes that were left at the front door of the kennels. A note with the 3 boxes addressed to Noelle.

Santa asked her to train the boys and find homes for them after they matured.

Well, the boys are still here! They have matured and have gotten degrees in 3 different subjects.

Axel was the most playful and needed a lot of ‘Straight & narrow’. He ended up with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Rascal is the artsy fartsy one and he got his degree in Nutritional Science.

Kel was the easiest to train. He did everything correct & never back talked to Noelle. He has a degree in Clinical Laboratory Science.

So, for those of you who don’t know the story about the elves, there you go.

Putting this post up makes me realize that going into my 9th year of elf photos… this is why I have a hard time coming up with more situations to put them in.

But, keep watching, I’ll try and think of something each day until 2 Jan 2024.

We collected 3,586$ this year!

Each year we collect cash and then Susie’s group goes shopping, divides up the items, boxes the items, and delivers to all the families. (That all happened today!)

This is our 7th year of helping 20 families.

👉🏼 November is Epilepsy Awareness Month -

Not only do humans suffer from epilepsy, but dogs & cats do too.

If you have been lucky enough not having an animal that has seizures, please look through this article. It’s basic information may help you if you ever are around a dog or cat that shows signs of having a seizure. Not all seizures are that noticeable, but knowing the signs can help.

Those of you that have dogs or cats with epilepsy, hopefully you keep a record of the seizures and are on top of the blood work schedules.

If you have any information or ideas that might help someone with an animal that has epilepsy, please comment.

Not looking for medications, just things you’ve learned or go through when your dog or cat has a seizure.

Final day of Prisoner Pippa Saga (for this year).

The Parole Panel brought forth clear written conditions in Prisoner Pippa’s detention hearing.

Under Texas Family Code Section 54.01(a), Prisoner Pippa must refrain from the use of social media and abide to the restraining order given to Princess Coco.

Prisoner Pippa’s In-home parole officer is under strict guidelines for the next 8 months. Judge Trapper does NOT want to see Pippa in her juvenile center or courtroom for the 8 month timeline.

Court is in session!

Since being arrested, having her Initial Appearance…which didn’t go so well, there was no need for an Arrangement because Prisoner Pippa failed to make a plea and waived her rights to an attorney.

The trial today was held with no jury, Judge Trapper chose to determine Pippa’s guilt by use of the overwhelming evidence brought before her. Bringing candy and offering a coffee mug didn’t help Judge Trapper’s decision.

Since Pippa has a lengthy list of prior offenses, she will not get off easy.

The victim, ‘Princess Coco’, is considered elderly in the eyes of this court, that being stated Judge Trapper has determined that Pippa’s offense is charged as a 2nd degree felony!

Because of the way Pippa knows and vaguely associates with Princess Coco, the judge has granted Coco a protective order which prohibits Pippa from contacting and/or going near her.

Pippa will wait on her release….whenever her parole officer decides to pick her up.

October is National Bullying Awareness Month

Prisoner Pippa Saga is fun and giggles, but on a serious note, the awareness of bullying is what this month is about.

If you have even been bullied, either to your face or cyber, it does effect you. How you deal with the particular bully sometimes is hard and other times just standing up to them helps.

I have added a great website for information if you or someone you know is effected by a bully.

Please, let’s try and be kind and respectful toward eachother.

Apparently Prisoner Pippa traded her neighboring inmate time outside for his iPhone.

During rounds this morning, the boys caught Pippa texting Coco!

The reason Pippa is currently incarcerated is because she was caught cyber bullying another girl dog named Coco.

Those of you that don’t know, the use of technology to commit crimes as cyber bullying is breaking the Texas Electronic Communications Act of 2001.

Pippa is waiting her court date with Judge Trapper on Monday, 1 Nov.

Prisoner Pippa Saga!

Pippa was taken into custody by her own housemate, Rookie Officer Clooney, and brought into the kennels for incarceration last night.

Officer Clooney had Pippa under in-house surveillance since another dog called the police and made a formal complaint about Pippa. This female (we will call her ‘Coco’) made a complaint that Pippa was harassing her and bullying her online.

Once Prisoner Pippa was booked, evidence was brought forward, all her devices were confiscated, she then picked the lock on Judge Trapper’s chambers where the judge was napping.

Judge Trapper was not happy by the forceable entry into her chambers and told the boys to take Pippa away.

As Pippa was being escorted back to her kennel, Judge Trapper decided to forego Pippa’s arraignment and had Pippa detained until further notice. Axel grabbed his camera and took Pippa’s mugshot.

Hopefully Judge Trapper will go through the evidence and come up with a basic charge on the cyber bullying.

In honor of National Pumpkin Day -

I’ve changed today’s title to, Pup-kin Day!

This is my first time trying to make a pumpkin from a dog’s paw print. It actually worked better upside down.

‘Bella’ had arts & crafts day for Pup-kin Day, it is an artistic rendering of a pumpkin from her front paw.

Pumpkin Day is to celebrate the orange food item that is all about Hallow😍n!

Not only can you carve a pumpkin, smash a pumpkin, cook and/or bake a pumpkin, but you can feed your dog pumpkin too. And it’s good for them. Below is an article that explains what your dog can benefit from by eating pumpkin.

You’ll have to excuse me, I’m going to scrape Bella’s pumpkin out and roast the seeds.

Don’t forget!

Just a couple more weeks. Deadline for collecting cash is Sunday, 12 Nov.

We have collected 1,420.00$ so far. Would like to try and get some more. I know it’s easy to think about donating, you get busy and forget, time runs out, and you try and donate next year.

It’s that time of year again!

This is the 6th year collecting cash for Thanksgiving Dinners. Those of you who have donated before, heads up!

Those of you new to this collection, Susie McCoslin and I collect cash for families we get from a local nonprofit that the kennel donates to all year. This specific collection will go toward purchasing food for local families that need a hand for Thanksgiving dinner.

I have already collected 560$ from customers that have asked to give to the dinners. Thank you again.

I will be collecting until 12 Nov, then I hand the envelope over to Susie and she puts a shopping list together once she talks with the families and finds out any specifics like ham or turkey, allergies, and number of people in the family.

Last year we collected 2,508$ that went to 20 family dinners for Thanksgiving.

The new kennel signs are up!!!

Big thanks to the old man, I did help, just hard to take photos of myself while digging holes with the manual post hole digger (PHD), stirring concrete mix, using the level, drilling holes with the drill engine, and tightening up the bolts.

I took my ideas and artwork into a local sign company. They worked with me and did a great job! Located in Wylie if you need any signage. Their link is below.

Today is National Make A Dog’s Day -

Today is set up to let you know that adopting, fostering, or donating to a local animal non profit organization will absolutely help make a dog’s day.

That’s my que to let you know about these 2 dogs that are looking for a new home.

The black dog, Monkey, and the red dog, Koffee, are staying at the kennels because their human has passed away. I have boarded them for a few years off & on.

It would be great if they could stay together. If you know someone that has a fenced yard, patience for dogs that need guidance, and willing to keep a daily disciplined routine, please let them know about these 2.

In honor of Global Cat Day -

Even though this is a dog boarding facility, there are 3 cats that reside here.

Most of you know about Judge Trapper, the fluffy grey & white one, she was caught on the property in a live trap in 2016.

Trina, a tortoise, was brought to me because a customer found her in the garage, she was afraid her dogs would kill her. She arrived in 2018.

Hanny was also caught in a live trap on the property in 2020, after being left on the side of 205 dumped out of a pickup truck. Hanny actually lives here, but visits the nextdoor neighbors often.

Annular solar eclipse day

‘Xena’ had hers, but ‘Poopy’ didn’t. Xena didn’t want to share with Poopy either.

I know a few of you were right in the path, Dallas will be in the path for the eclipse on 8 April 2024, so if you like this kind of event get some glasses.

In honor of National M&M’s Day -

I couldn’t let today go without a plug for M&M’s candies.

Not only are M&M’s the best chocolate candy, they come in many flavors, different themes, you can customize them, and they have the cutest characters that represent the brand.

‘Mamba’ has had enough of Axel’s attitude and has contained him in the best thing she could find.

Those of you who know alittle about me, Peanut M&M’s are an hourly treat. 😆 There are always big empty containers around. (If you need any, let me know.)

WAHOO!

The new driveway entrance is open!!!

After the crew swept the new 28’ wide concrete apron, I put up colored flags on each side of the entrance. They aren’t on 205, but as close legally as I could get. The crew is framing for the new sidewalks. (Which is sooo not needed here.) One of the old kennel signs is facing 205, the new signs will be set up soon.

The entrance you used to use is gone. The new entrance is about 80’ south of the old one.

How you like it, supposedly when it’s all done, there should be a divide in 205 at the new entrance with a left turn lane coming from the north.
