Unfortunately, we have to announce a 2 week parvo quarantine. We should re open in 2 weeks, but we will keep yall updated!!!
We try our hardest to provide the best care for our animals, but unfortunately, because we are a public intake facility,with a large volume of intakes, we do get animals brought in that have unforeseeable issues. As some of you may know, parvo is highly contagious, non vaccinated dogs are extremely susceptible, and strays can carry it all over town. Because of this, no matter how well we sanitize our entire shelter, there is always a chance of it spreading quickly. We vaccinate all strays and owner surrenders as soon as the come in our door, but if they are already carrying it, vaccines will not help.
We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience this will cause. We understand that this can be a very stressful 2 weeks for our counties, as it is equally as stressful for us. But, this is why keeping your pets safe, and up to date on their vaccines is so important. We try our best to help all the animals that we intake, but sometimes that just isn’t enough. We hope you guys will be as understanding as possible, because sometimes, this is just not preventable. Again, we want to wholeheartedly apologize, as we know how hard this time will be for everyone!😢💔
If you could please donate dog food and bleach or any cleaning supplies, everything will be appreciated!! We will have to clean daily with bleach and we are feeding over 160 pounds of food a day!!
There will still be staff at the shelter to drop off donations or supplies, someone will meet you at the gate just call the shelter number:)
