One of our final Cats & Crafts of the year THIS Sunday! The class includes a 1-hour tutorial inside the Purrlor w/ the kitties and instructor Bea Bonanno. We will be making these adorable little leaf & acorn felt catnip toys which received an official seal of approval from cafe kitties.

Kitten Lady is coming to Lawrence! Hannah is an award-winning kitten rescuer, humane educator, and unwavering animal advocate who has dedicated her life to protecting the tiniest and most vulnerable felines. She is also a NY Times best-selling author and founder of Orphan Kitten Club, a nonprofit which seeks to create a safer world for neonatal kittens and is a major supporter of Lawrence Humane Society.

Hannah will present a workshop on saving kittens, discuss her new book "Cats of the World," and answer questions from the audience. This event will take place at The Granada Theater on Wednesday, October 30th, 6-8pm. Registration is required. Here is the link: https://give.classy.org/kittenladyLHS

We just picked up our copy of "Cats of the World" at Raven Book Store for our little library at the cafe and we LOVE it. Resident bookstore sweetheart, Sammy, was nice enough to pose for us. 😊 So excited to see Hannah speak in person!

There will also be the KU Rock Chalk Block Party featuring Shaboozey on Friday evening. This is a FREE event on the 1000 block of Massachusetts in front of The Granada Theater. It begins at 5:30pm with music, games, kids activities and more. A Family Weekend Pep Rally will take place at approximately 7:30pm. 😊

We decided to throw a catnip tea party using Tabitha Twitchet, a custom blend made for cats & people by our friends at Brits - Purveyors of British goods. 😊 It's a combination of organic catnip, spearmint and rose petals and it's actually quite lovely. The kitties VERY much enjoyed the tea leaf sprinkles, but opted out of trying the tea itself even in cute tiny mugs. 😄 Our staff does enjoy the tea though. Note: If attempting at home, please make sure tea is completely cooled before giving to kitties. Although from our experiment, it seems they prefer the tea leaves straight up.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us in our first 5 months! We closed out 2023 with 70 adoptions. 🙌 🥰 We fall in love with every cat who comes through our doors so knowing they're home with their new families makes it all worth it. We'll continue to focus on kitties who may need extra help/time finding the right home. This includes seniors, special needs, bonded pairs, under socialized kittens, or just kitties who may not be thriving in a kennel all of which helps free up space for other cats at the shelter. While adoptions are one of our goals, our aim is to create a unique & fun environment that is beneficial for both cats & humans. Extra visibility of adoptable cats is an added bonus we hope will help cats & families find each other who may not have met otherwise. Every visitor helps our kitties by providing love & attention, but even just grabbing a drink helps us to continue with our mission. ☺️ Thank you all and we look forward to 2024 and beyond!
