At BlueDog, our job and passion is keeping the dogs of The Andovers happy and healthy! We offer dog walking, private training and group classes at our training facilities.

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN CLASS! Do you want to get your dog CGC certified? With this certification, you open the door to opportunities like Therapy Dog training, a better experience at the groomers or vets, and having the confidence in knowing your dog is a well-rounded citizen!

This class works on all of the skills needed to pass your evaluation: accepting a friendly stranger, sitting politely for petting, walking on a loose leash, walking through a crowd, sit, downs, and stays, recall, passing other dogs on leash, supervised separation, and more!

Starting NEXT FRIDAY (January 12th) at 12pm at our Stadium Plaza location, you and your dog can begin working on all of these amazing skills! The 6 week class includes the evaluation during the last class! So there is a potential of you leaving the class CERTIFIED! Link to sign up is in the comments 🙂 Puppy pic for tax purposes.

Control Unleashed Skills at Work!

Wally’s mom, Lindsay, shared this amazing story with us about Wally’s visit to the groomers:

“Wally had a grooming appointment and he seemed pretty nervous when we got there with some whining/howling when we parked. We did breath work in the car and played some chair game and he got right into the rhythm of it. Then when we got to the door we did up/down and he did well with that too. I brought him inside and unexpectedly a small dog came right up to him and he was perfect - they greeted each other, all good social cues, I was amazed! So cool seeing the tools at work!”

Lindsay demonstrated amazing applications of the new skills her and Wally learned, and she took the time to incorporate them into a situation that could have been so much more stressful and overwhelming! It is always so rewarding hearing from our students and knowing that they’re truly utilizing the CU philosophies in their every day lives.

NEW CLASS ALERT!
Join us at our Snuffle Mat Making Event! This fun (people only) class is an opportunity to create a snuffle mat that you can take home to your dog! The class will take place on Friday, December 1st at 5:30 pm.
The price of the class includes instruction and all materials needed 🙂
Arrive anytime after 5:30 pm, instruction/snuffle mat making is from 6:00-7:30 pm. Light snacks will be provided 🥨🫗
Why should you want to make a snuffle mat?? Not only is the art of making a snuffle mat relaxing and engaging, the product is extremely beneficial to your dog! As an enrichment activity, snuffling allows your dog to use his nose to forage for hidden treats. "Snuffling" can decrease heart rate, provide decompression, give your pup something to do, and mentally stimulate them.

Holiday hours for this week! BlueDog will be closed for walking and training on Thanksgiving, 11/24. Walks are back on Friday, but closed for training. On Saturday, we are holding classes at Stadium Plaza only.

STUDENTS! Check your emails! We've changed the Wednesday night class schedule for 11/22 to accommodate for the holiday.

Congratulations to BlueDog owners/trainers Kim and Chris Palermo for their successes at a WCRL Rally trial this past weekend with dogs Walt, Jane, and Fern! By competing in dog sports, trainers must teach their dog to perform with precision, and also build a relationship that supports engagement and focus in a challenging environment with little to no food reinforcement. Essentially it teaches us to be better trainers! Not only that, but when trained using positive reinforcement, it's a great opportunity to build a happier relationship with our dogs.

Interested in trying out sports? We have two upcoming intro classes starting this Friday! Scent Work at 2pm and Rally Foundations at 3pm with trainer Diane Kurkjian.
