The Axolotls are three inches long! That means that they are ready to join your homes 😊 Please see post below about what you need to be ready. We have dark colored (wild type and/or melanoid) and albino (some will likely be golden…they continue to get a gold color as they get older).

The axolotls are growing like crazy and are nearly ready to go to homes! I will post some current pictures and pricing information later today (competitive pricing!). But, if you want to welcome an axolotl (or two!) into your home, it is time to get their habitat ready. Briefly, this is what you need to be ready to care for your axolotl:
20 gallon long tank
Sponge filter with air pump
Sand for tank bottom (NOT gravel)
A place that axolotl can “hide” in tank
Frozen bloodworms
Appropriate water**

You can buy all of these supplies at your local aquarium store. If you are in/near Lawrence, KS, I highly suggest Pet World. They even sell pH-balanced, chlorine-free, water for an extremely affordable price that will help to ensure that your water is safe! You can use tap water that has had the chlorine removed as well (there are drops that you can buy at pet stores for this).

If you are new to aquatic animals (like we were!), your tank has to be "cycled" before you drop your axolotl in it. You can find information about this online, or again, your local store can help you to understand the process as well.
